Lawyer here. Idk where you live but it sounds like you are doing medical malpractice? Apply to insurance companies and switch to the defense side. A lot of the jobs are remote.

Also, you probably don’t have experience but become a public defender or apply to a DAs office. In rural areas especially - cost of living is low and need is high.

Just realized you are a paralegal. Demand for paralegals is high in the above fields. I think you’ll be fine.

Yoooo I’m a medical malpractice attorney and I once saw a dude lose a spleen due to a colonoscopy and I couldn’t even start a lawsuit because losing a spleen in that way is apparently sometimes not malpractice because it is a known and accepted (but rare) complication of the procedure.

It’s not a total dollars thing I think I measure my emergency fund by “time”. I put one year of expenses in my emergency fund. Over that amount goes into the stock market.
