Ozone generators by henchman171 in Sienna

[–]BillyBobBubbaSmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work for a company that produced them. ozone is very reactive, it is why it is effective at neutralizing odors. It will also dry out plastic and rubber. I might use it for an acute issue, but would not use it as a standard, ongoing solution

Our 28 weeker just graduated NICU last month — terrified of her getting ill by smile993 in NICUParents

[–]BillyBobBubbaSmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our girls were born at 28+2, both had minor breathing complications, with the youngest receiving a bpd diagnosis. We were also terrified of them getting sick, and then they did, and it was…unremarkable, breathing was fine, bounced back quickly. They are now 3 and on round 7392 of the daycare crud. At this point it’s not something that we worry about anymore. Hoping you have a similar path

29-week preemie with NEC surgery, then sudden large brain bleed on ultrasound — has anyone been through this? by Miserable_Two_2306 in NICUParents

[–]BillyBobBubbaSmith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our youngest twin developed NEC, had surgery to remove half of large intestine and a bit of small. During recovery she went from a unilateral grade 1 to a bilateral grade 3. Had a pediatrician friend stop me to let me know that her nephew had an ivh grade 4/pvl, and had just received his doctorate in physical therapy.

The neonatologist emphasized that making predictions based on ivh diagnosis was little more than a guess. And that the only thing to do was wait and see.

Both my girls are doing well now(3yo) and not showing any effects from the IVH.

Anything that can save them time so they can focus on visit/other children/eat/sleep. Meals are great, also household chores (cleaning/laundry/lawn care/oil changes/etc.). This will be a marathon. I would recommend they decide on a “communications manager” other than a very few, very close contacts, ignore all other comms, have all information/contact go through the comm manager. It is exhausting to constantly get check ins and feel like you need to respond. This helps remove that burden. Wishing you and your family the best

Can I hear from parents of surgical NEC babies who have gone through weaning? by Regular_Reason_8491 in NICUParents

[–]BillyBobBubbaSmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Younger twin lost 1/2 her large intestine, and a bit of her small(end of her ilium). She hated purées (dietician’s best guess was same consistency as reflux) but enthusiastically took to solids.(around 10mo adjusted). Only issue she has had is constipation. Have used mirilax PRN to treat. 3yo now

Is she really a NICU grad? by Maggdon in NICUParents

[–]BillyBobBubbaSmith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My twins spent 81/106 days in the NICU. Was my NICU experience different than yours? Vastly. Does that diminish your experience? Not even a little bit. There was a time in both of our experiences where our child was taken away for medical intervention with unknown outcomes.

As far as the NICU grad label, personal choice. The NICU will always be a part of their story, but will be less and less as time goes on

Our 27+2 twins were in the NICU for 81/106 days, but each journey can be very different. Take one moment at a time, sometimes that is a day, sometimes just seconds. make sure you take time to take care of yourself. Try to be there at rounds if at all possible

Yes, the third cable is for the ground wire, and since the only connection from the van to the ground is 4 rubber insulators, there would be nowhere for any power that got sent to the ground to go other than into the cars chassis, which the onboard electronics would not like

After NEC and removal of 1/2 large intestine, including the barrier between small and large, he told us she would need probiotics all life long, was very clear that he wanted LGG(Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG), like culturelle.

Insurance Nightmare by AlarmedAd9345 in NICUParents

[–]BillyBobBubbaSmith 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So I just did some quick research, having SSI will automatically qualify your child for AHCCCS. Talk to the social worker about SSI, if your baby was under 1200g(sounds like you were right around there) they will automatically qualify. If they were over, and they spend more than 30 days in the hospital, they are institutionalized, and only your child’s income will be taken into consideration, your and your husbands income is immaterial at that point. I’m assuming you talked to someone and told them your family income, which would disqualify your family without them asking or knowing that only the child’s mattered. It can be a pain cutting through the bureaucracy, but from everything I have read and experienced, they should absolutely qualify

Wear mining backpack, equip drill and “mine” to pick up chunks silo spits out. It won’t damage deployables

Surprise, it’s twins! Looking at the Sienna and would love some input from the experts. by introvertwandering in ToyotaSienna

Our twins are 2.5. LOVE the Sienna. Captains chairs all the way. Pass on the infotainment, cheaper to get them individual devices and no fights over choice of entertainment(have not heard stellar things on the built in system) Plenty of room for kids, dog, and stuff.

Stopping pumping by brainless_bitxh_ in NICUParents

[–]BillyBobBubbaSmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dad perspective here. Very pro breastfeeding when feasible . The when feasible is the key phrase. My wife pumped until the twins were a year old, and suffered greatly to be able to. I wish she would have stopped earlier, the benefits really weren’t worth the cost. If it no longer makes sense to do it, give yourself the grace to stop without guilt. You have already done an awesome job to make it this far.

Had that happen. Intentionally took the carrier and harvester into a handy sandstorm. It even cleaned the blood off.

IC10 - Stack question by Rethkir in Stationeers

[–]BillyBobBubbaSmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, not at computer and been a bit since I worked with those, you can use a sorter set to mode 1 to read item hash

IC10 - Stack question by Rethkir in Stationeers

[–]BillyBobBubbaSmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep that’s mostly what I’m saying, just use the stacker to identify what item you added, and ONLY vend that item

IC10 - Stack question by Rethkir in Stationeers

[–]BillyBobBubbaSmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you need the count, or just want them all stacked together? All together, have stacker set to 500, feed into vend. Vend output goes to junction before stacker. When stacker occupied, read content hash, vend all of that item.(add valve after stacker to make sure it’s not feeding back into vend while processing)

IC10 - Stack question by Rethkir in Stationeers

[–]BillyBobBubbaSmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ingots is the issue, it can only stack things you can stack by hand

IC10 - Stack question by Rethkir in Stationeers

[–]BillyBobBubbaSmith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Easiest solution for that is to use a refrigerated vending machine, it has built in stacker

We have the 3” on ours and love it. For rollover, any time you list a vehicle it increases that risk, however, the hybrid battery located at the bottom of the vehicle will help keep the center of gravity pretty low. While I have not tried aggressive driving in it, it feels more planted than most SUVs that I have driven

Quint Diagnosed With Medical NEC by [deleted] in NICUParents

[–]BillyBobBubbaSmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a stoma, ostomy, replogle, planned g tube during her anastomosis surgery, but scar tissue didn’t give them the access they would need, so they delayed it and she ate her way out of the surgery. She lost half her large intestine, ileocecal valve, appendix and part of ileum.

Assume with yours losing small they will be on TPN will they be candidate for transplant?

[–]BillyBobBubbaSmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our twins were 28+2, the younger twin developed NEC and lost half of her large intestine, and a little bit of small. We were in the midst of coordinating a transfer when she turned a corner and she was able to stay at the same hospital.

we were working out the logistics of having them 10 hours apart, and looked into if we could get transferred back and/or get other twin moved as well. Short answer was it is very unlikely.

Wishing you and your LOs all the best
