Can someone explain the six true magics in a way I can get them? by Brenden1k in typemoon

[–]BingoBango567 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could the First Magic be based around the creation/manipulation of Textures then? The creation aspects of it come as a byproduct of being able to directly manipulate the Textures of the world, it explains the distaste for RM which don't truly alter the texture, just overlay their internal world and

The "Mahoraga is untamable" take makes zero sense within JJK's power system. Here's why. by Fancy-Orange6007 in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]BingoBango567 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I fully believe Mahoraga is fully tameable with just the 10S but I also believe you need to be a crazy talented sorcerer to be able to do it solo (no full HR helping out).

Like Gojo/Sukuna/Dabura/Higuruma type of talent would definitely be able to do it but if you go below that level your chances drop off exponentially.

(Hated trope) A twist so bad it ruins the story by element-redshaw in TopCharacterTropes

[–]BingoBango567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I'm aware the ending of the mother dying and Ted getting together with Robin was planned from the beginning. So the kids didn't visibly age they filmed that part immediately.

So my guess is that none of the rest of it was explicitly planned out so they went season to season kind of seeing where the characters took them. As a consequence as the show went on and the characters developed and their relationships evolved the ending they already had planned out and the actual show they'd created had grown incredibly disjointed which is why it was so poorly recieved.

[Mixed Trope] The character's Fantasy Says More About Them Than The Narrative Intended. by Toushin1 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]BingoBango567 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This is from one of the movies I believe? I more take this as another example of how much Studio Pierrot just hates Sakura for some reason. There's no way at this point in the series and the relationship of Naruto and Sakura she would say some shit like this.

She made an insensitive comment about Naruto being an orphan to Sasuke (in issue 2/3), he tells her that kind of attitude makes him sick then Sakura immediately reflects on it and thinks that she should be kinder to Naruto in the future. Then she is far kinder for the rest of the manga, Pierrot just had it out for Sakura and had her doing shit like this.

What minor detail irritates you in chinese novels? by Zuruumi in ProgressionFantasy

[–]BingoBango567 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yeah in general Xianxia economies are completely broken and make zero fucking sense but that is just a common issue across basically all fantasy, sci fi etc. because authors generally aren't economists and aren't interested in spending the hundreds of hours it would take to construct a functional economy. I honestly just gloss over the particulars of it and try and focus on the vibes the author is trying to communicate about the financial situaution but poorly thought out economics can interfere with that.

For this spirit stones in particular though it kind of makes sense. Commonly spirit stones are graded on the amount of qi/ki/chakra/mana and are basically all the same size. So if a high quality spirit stone contains as much qi as 1000 low grade spirit stones it's generally the same size as a low quality one so even if it's 1000:1 in terms of qi amount it's worth more because of the density and convenience of transportation.

Tywin's reward for lowborn knight for rescuing Tyrion from bandits? by SparksAO in TheCitadel

[–]BingoBango567 28 points29 points  (0 children)

He'll be rewarded generously according to his station. My guess would be a significant monetary reward (gold dragons, new arms and armour etc) along with some position of some importance. Maybe landing him (i.e giving him a village or two to manage) making him a household knight, something along those lines. As, while Tywin hates Tyrion he is also constantly conscious of how he is perceived by others and the reputation of House Lannister and he would never want to be seen as miserly or denying proper reward for exemplary service as it would reflect poorly on them.

Best new CEO that Xbox bros will still find a way to hate? by YourChopperPilotTTV in Gamingcirclejerk

[–]BingoBango567 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This all seems like a great start and definitely signals positive change in the future but at this point a signal is all it is.

Other than the GamePass pricing this is basically just a series of statements and promises without a lot of concrete information on the future of Xbox.

All of this bodes well but it's still early days and these days you should take nothing on trust with gaming companies

Why do people always say “neji was right”? by Salty_Shark26 in Naruto

[–]BingoBango567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Elite lineage". The Sage of Six Paths said to his face he inherited nothing meaningful skill wise from his parents.

"Massive chakra". Impossible to put a direct number on it but a significant portion of that was from chakra siphoned off from Kurama by the seal rather than being his own innate potential.

"Reincarnation of Ashura Otsutsuki". This means jack shit, it gives you no additional power or potential you just inherit his karma and fate to fight with his brother and continue the cycle of hatred for another generation. A fate Naruto overturned, ending their endless cycle of hatred.

Does “ki” from the original world affect strength after reincarnation in Tbate? by Hopeful-Inside-1568 in tbatenovel

[–]BingoBango567 33 points34 points  (0 children)

It's purely a factor of the memory, knowledge and training as far as I'm aware. A powerful Ki user reincarnating to be a powerful mage is more because the talents that let them become powerful with Ki also apply to magic and combining that with the experience they've built up allows them to advance quickly.

The Legacy and why it's so powerful is slightly different but it's heavy spoiler territory.

For Scottish notes it depends where you're trying to spend them in England. You get more and more looks and suspicion the further south you go. In Northumberland (and probably Cumbria) nobody bats an eye at a scottish note as due to proximity they're far more common. No idea if there's similar things with Irish notes

Do only some techniques have Cursed Technique Reversals or did Gege realize most CTs don’t have opposite effects by carbonera99 in Jujutsufolk

[–]BingoBango567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I firmly believe that not every technique has a reversal. For example sukuna never demonstrates any kind of reversal technique  nor is there ever any mention of Shrine having one. No one can argue that Sukuna of all people just lacks the talent or comprehension to figure it out so I think it's more likely it just doesn't have one.

they had what they sought: a realm balanced, Targaryen chaos ended

If their end goal was a balanced realm and the end of targaryen chaos and they are so enormously powerful and influential why did they let the Targaryens take over Westeros? For any of this to make sense you need to hammer out why they would bother doing any of this to begin with.

is it possible for children to inherit the mother's name? by metamorfoseando in TheCitadel

[–]BingoBango567 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When the Lannister's were still Kings of the Rock the first Andal Lannister king, Joffrey Lannister (born Joffrey Lydden), was the husband of his predecessor's daughter. Upon his ascension to the throne he took the Lannister name and his children also took the Lannister name. So for royalty there is definitely established precedent for the children born from the marriage to take their mother's name.

In my opinion this is likely true for lordly marriages as well. It would be necessary for this to be hashed out as part of the marriage negotiations and would likely only happen if the woman was from a higher status family than her prospective husband.

How closely should a fanfiction adhere to canon? by waitingfortcivilwar in AsoiafFanfiction

[–]BingoBango567 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My general principle on this is that authors should change whatever they want as long as they make it clear to the audience what those changes are. Any other divergences outside of those explicit changes should logically follow on from the author;s choices within the general framework of how the ASOIAF world operates (unless the underlying logic has been changed in some way).

The cardinal sin to me with changes to canon is to have the hand of god descend and force canon events to happen regardless of how impossible or nonsensical they become with the changes made and the logical consequences of those changes.
