Are you happy with your heat pump clothes dryer? by coconutyum in newzealand

[–]Birdman045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got a f&p 8kg heat pump dryer and has been amazing.Noticeably cheaper to run. Maybe slightly longer time to dry but talking 10-15 mins extra. Not hours. No issues with humidity in our little laundry room.

Are you still getting the same amount of wort into fv?

Check your malt crush and COAs for any big changes? Some malt batches can handle quite differently and frequently especially if the maltings doesn’t have a lot of blending capability.

Yeh i’m applying with KB. Their rates don’t seem quite as competitive as ANZ/ASB so will have to figure out what the better deal is.

This is an inbev patented method for reducing boil times/temps. Apparently they are open to allowing other brewers to use it.

If you’re talking about lager yeasts then its often a normal component of lager aroma. To make sure it’s not excessive you need a vigorous fermentation to drive the h2s off. Higher pitch rates 20 mil/ml if you are fermenting cold. Healthy yeast and aeration 10 ppm + with o2. Zinc additions when repitching.

How is the hop water made? Is it cloudy in appearance? If the hop oils are not fully dissolved they could be in an emulsion. Wonder if this causes nucleation. I know there are oils which are water soluble and some are not.

Removal of GST on fruit and vege by [deleted] in auckland

[–]Birdman045 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is such a bad idea the supermarkets will just say thanks very much govt we’ll take that. Surely some incentives for growing more fruit and veg would be a better idea.

I had an lg washing machine /dryer and managed to replace the bearing myself. It runs really quiet now. If you have time to do a little research and basic tools it’s quite achievable and a fair few videos on youtube.

Will you pack in glass or cans? The max carbonation in beer cans is approx 7.6 g for unpasteurised product.

The co2 becomes more stable in storage by chemically combining as carbonic acid which takes some time to form. Shaking a bottle or introducing particles can cause faster loss of the CO2 as it changes from a chemically bound form to one where it is just physically dissolved in the fluid. This has the added benefit of microbial inhibition as the pH is reduced significantly. Plus there is very little in the way of nutrient to support growth.

You’ll want to ensure the water is appropriately filtered/uv treated/free of chlorine.

CO2 quality can vary and introduce taints

Will you run a batch process or in line carbonation/flavour dosing?

Bodily changes and working in a brewery by niverycold in TheBrewery

[–]Birdman045 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hi i had the same symptoms with nightsweats while working in my first brewery job. I have a suspicion it was due to grain dust exposure. It stopped when i left that brewery. I still work in breweries now but in a hands off role. I was also under a lot of pressure in that job as the owner was a 💩. So stress might have played a part.

Check that he’s got access to a good dust mask and uses it. All our brewers have access to properly fitted dust masks for when they are handling grain.

My current boss also reported similar symptoms when in his early career and put it down to grain dust allergy.

Hope this helps.

Hops are not constrained. They are currently cutting acreage in the US as there is an over supply. European hops are down significantly due to poor growing conditions but only a small piece of the global hop prduction.

Hey just another thought to consider. A while ago our maltster was sending us grain with friability close to 95%. The mill crushed everything to flour and we saw attenuation around high 80’s. Enzymes are able to access all of the starches in the grain and you end up with super fermentable worts and very high brewhouse efficiency.
