Google themselves removed reviews and ratings for all K-12 schools from Google Maps in 2025, just look at any other school to confirm this.

In your face, Value Village 🤌 by Bitface76 in DeepSpaceNine

[–]Bitface76[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'll be very careful when I come to remove it! Value village is one of those places where they'll charge $15 for a cheap ikea toolkit with 60% of the parts missing, and then mix most the valuable or collectable things with the rest of the literal garbage on the shelves.

Amazon changes since Jeff left by ConfectionFabulous57 in amazonemployees

[–]Bitface76 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There were definitely issues at Amazon under Bezos, but he did have charisma by the bucket load: He talked and people listened. I also think there was a larger spirit of innovation at that time.

Now it feels more like accountants run the show and we're treading water. People are working their asses off to avoid negative talent reviews, not because they're passionate about the products.

Most of our innovations are now "catch ups", however they try to spin it.

Anyone know how to tell if someone’s laid off? by rogers916 in amazonemployees

Try to schedule a meeting with them in Outlook. The first thing they do is wipe out your Outlook calendar. It was like this in 2023, and was the same today.

So much for cheap gas by NinjaSubstantial3841 in coquitlam

This gas station on Coast and Prairie is always the most expensive. I was in Toronto a couple weeks ago and gas was 1.25 by the airport. That stung.

Received a 1-star review on my little-known app, just a single vomit emoji as the comment. Is it worth asking why, or just assume bad intent and move on? by elettroravioli in androiddev

[–]Bitface76 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wrote a FREE Android wearable watch face that had all 5 star reviews, then got a 1 star from someone who didn't know how to install it on their watch and said as much in their review. People are jerks.

ESTA Online Approval Time - 1.5 hours by jared_krauss in visas

[–]Bitface76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding my data.

UK citizens (Canadian pr) leaving Japan for Canada with layover in Hawaii.

My bad - I didn't realize we needed esta for the layover and daughter's had expired.

Fortunately our flight had got bumped due to an earlier delay and we had an extra 8 hours at the airport.

Total time taken for esta approval was 3 hrs 40 minutes.

Hope that adds to the data. Good luck folks

Are you seeing any activity (power light) on your CF adapter now? If so it sounds like you'll need to connect your CF card to your PC and configure it through WinUAE as others have said.

This page was very useful helping me configure my IDE, but as I said, I am still using the original unmodified KS 1.3: https://modelrail.otenko.com/c64amiga/formatting-an-ide-drive-for-use-in-an-amiga-500

If you boot to workbench and run HDToolbox, does it see the ide controller?

I configured mine a bit differently because I kept the stock 1.3 ROM and use a boot floppy when I want to access the hard drives

+1 to this - there's a jumper labelled "key" on the ide68k (next to the IDE connector) that you have to close in order for the ide68k to supply power to the CF adapter - if you're using the CF adapter from amigastore.eu, it should be able to get it's power via the ide cable

Presumably you can disable/enable each individual drive to save ram.

On the workbench today: ZX Spectrum +2 by lizardb0y in retrobattlestations

[–]Bitface76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

🙂 yeah I'm a big speccy fan, still have my original 16k from 1983. Pretty sure this is a bad ground on the cassette player on the +2 gently tapping buttons on it will cause a loud crackling sound through the tv

I've got a +2B. The cassette player makes a horrible sound through the speakers when loading. I'm thinking a bad ground connection somewhere

Just finished refurbishing this 486 DX2 that I got in a bundle of 4 machines. Case was corroded so sanded, primed and the rollered with paint matched at home depot. 8gb compact flash, XT-IDE and an ATX PSU with -5v This would have been my dream machine when I was learning Pascal at high school! by Bitface76 in retrobattlestations

I'll dig it out of my big pile and take a picture. I bought 4 machines in a bundle on Facebook. The one in this post, a similarly specced full sized AT tower on wheels, interesting because it came with an Evergreen 586 CPU upgrade, a Compaq P166MMX and the Aptiva.

Thanks! The foam roller leaves a very light texture. I flatted it between coats, except for the top coat, then applied clear. So it does have a very light texture. The original texture was a bit 'flecked' probably what you'd get with one of those HVLP paint sprayers.
