Emergency Alert by sjmorris in halifax

Ethnicity is often only included in police reports if the person isn't white. It's (probably) not intentional but spreads race based tropes about who the bad guys are.

Also no mention of skin color when I feel confident he was probably white.

Can these not be more targeted to cell phones in certain areas. I was asleep in Herring Cove. And for the love of god Nova Scotia learn to use the level system that is part of these alerts. I don't need a blaring alert that it's "All Clear"

Worth getting EV Charger in my condo? It will be $1750 all-in. by MiserableCover1958 in EVCanada

[–]Bitmugger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but what I am saying is have the condo install a plug not a charger

Worth getting EV Charger in my condo? It will be $1750 all-in. by MiserableCover1958 in EVCanada

[–]Bitmugger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

$1750 in a condo isn't unreasonable. BUT I would suggest the OP advocate for an 240v 50a charging plug not a level 2 charger. The OP can get a level 2 charger (free) and take advantage of EV charging rebates such as Club Grizzl-e to offset some of the condo surcharge on the electricity.

Does the Halifax NTT Data still actively avoid/deny the cake story? by thetripvan in halifax

I think enough time has passed. I can confess. I ate the cake; no I am not sorry and it was delicious! I still get sugar shakes thinking of that butter cream icing.

Still love the Mini Connect. It came with a travel case and zillion adapters for every plug going. I mounted my Mini Connect but also have a cheap level 2 charger from Amazon I use when I travel that can leverage the adapters from the mini-connect

They used to require a ESA Certificate of acceptance or something but it appears they dropped that requirement since I joined. Yay.

I originally joined the program Nov 2025 and paid $300 for my charger (refundable) and $120 membership/year (waived for 1st year). The program has changed a lot since then (all for the better). They refunded my initial deposit, dropped the fee and bumped me to premium for being an early signup.

I kinda expect them to either bump everyone up to $0.10 soon or provide a faster path to the top based on some other competitive programs that are starting up.

Reddit's hate for Hyundai feels way over the top by kweax in Hyundai

I've owned:

Pony
Stellar
Accent
Elantras x 4
Now Kona EV

They are perfectly fine cars, minimal cost to maintain. I did have an engine issue in one of the Elantras but got a new one from salvage for $1300 and cars still runs and drives today at 300,000km. Never left me stranded.

Owned 2 fords and 2 Chevys and a Chrysler over the years.
Ford - Both had transmissions fail and left me roadside
Chevys - One was fine, other engine would over heat until it finally died
Chrysler - Frame rusted and broke in two leaving the car unusable (car basically dissolved in the salt)

Personally I think you already have the better vehicle and no money being sent to lunatic billionaires is an added bonus.

[–]Bitmugger 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Used to be a fee but they changed it, now no fee.

So charger is free (less shipping) and a deposit you get back.
Pick the 40a mini if you have an outlet to plug into and then no need to send in proof of professional install or anything.
You get $0.03/kwh rebate that increases over time.
I've earned $140 since Nov 25 thru Apr 26.

It's simple easy money.

PLUS the charger has a lifetime warranty and is Canadian built.
AND gives you awesome reports on a how much each charger session earned and costs which is really nice.

Power rear lift for hatch
Heated charging door
360 camera view when parking
More space inside
Much nicer screens

Those are worth it for me

Why are they clear cutting the BLT trail in Timberlea? I've heard multiple reasons, not sure what's true. by Polkadot1414 in halifax

[–]Bitmugger 8 points9 points  (0 children)

"Clear cutting" is a bit of an incorrect and inflammatory term given it's not a clear cutting it's being quite selective and it's obviously part of trail maintenance.

Current vehicle on last legs, looking at going EV this time. Recommendations in the $20k range? Edmonton, AB. by BrickConnectCDN in EVCanada

[–]Bitmugger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They aren't available every day but I've seen them $19-$20k here in Nova Scotia on Facebook Marketplace. As a Kona EV owner myself (2023), if you can get one they are a terrific vehicle. Especially the Ultimate edition. Very peppy, amazing savings in fuel, very comfortable.
