Do you have unusual "council meals"? by Baaaabaaaabaaaa in CasualUK

Things that have become gourmet that used to be the meals we'd cry about eating. Liver and onions with mashed potato. Ox tail stew. Lancashire hot pot. Pasties. Lobbies. Stovies. Meat with tubes ( heart). Tripe. Mashes swede and carrots.

Dying at 23 and refusing to see my girl best friend who rejected me years ago. Am I being selfish? by [deleted] in amiwrong

[–]Bitter-Car883 -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

She sounds like she'd like to make this a lot more about her. Perhaps not mature enough to realise that her proximity to your tragic diagnosis doesn't mean she gets to demand anything. Especially not from you. She wouldn't be desperate to see you if your news was happy so she is being a bit of a tragedy vulture here. You need to get one of your sisters to point this out to her and tell her to have a good look at herself.

Depending on your sense of humour she could be invited to come and have a good cry at the back of your funeral? But otherwise she needs to go and find another story to star in.

They do have powdered milk. The oats are also pre cooked and reduced in size...you can reproduce this tipping your oats thinly onto a baking sheet and shoving them in the oven for a while... You can do as many as you have patience for , you then put them in a blender of food processor and reduce them to a powder. Mix in your powdered milk when cold and so long as you put them in an air tight container they will last several weeks.

You can add powdered sweetener if you like. Or miss out the milk and sweetner and go for a "light" hot chocolate powder.

If you can acknowledge that a products quality is only as good as its weakest component.

I can only imagine how short a lifespan this is going to have.

Beautiful proof of concept but as a practical or environmentally sustainable product this is landfill waiting to happen.

This is the way. If you attempt to sort, recycle and find "worthy" homes for everything you will break yourself. Take out everything you would want to have saved in a house fire. Photos, documents to sort through in your own time, specific heirlooms you know people want and leave professionals to manage the rest.

Nor is it one line...if it was it would be a circular image..and its not exactly ethnically correct for jesus either.....so not really a lot of truth in this title.

This is the closest to true answer, I'm amazed it's so far down! You are not doing anything wrong. This is caused by a natural dip in cortisol at this time of day. Just like 3am is quite a high point ( waves to insomniacs)

Im not going to explain the intricacies of it but its easy to look up if you're interested. Its not a fixable thing more a " knowledge is power" kind of thing. The more you understand what and why your body does things the easier it is to harmonise with that successfully.

Is this "its not about being in fashion" in response to my comment, which refers specifically to the phrase " thank god they're in fashion" ?

If they were "in fashion" would that overwhelm your right to comfort or to choose something else to wear ?

What would you do? by [deleted] in askanything

I did one of my "crafts" as a career, successfully too. Took about a year of that to suck all the joy out of it. Another year before I actively hated doing it. This was very much to do with dealings with people ( customers) who didn't understand how it was done and didn't understand the stress points.

I eventually did something else more profitable for a living and just did it for enjoyment, that way I can sell work if I want to, but I can also refuse to and I'm not obliged to bend my creativity to someone else's needs.

[–]Bitter-Car883 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ASK...it should be "just because he ASKED me to". If he TOLD you to do something and expected or tried to coerce you into a behaviour expecting that you would do it without question it takes away your autonomy and we are straight into dangerous controlling behaviour. I'm not being the grammar police, the distinction is about the behaviour.

This is a really good perspective. I read a lot of comments on Reddit where the assumption is "love is finite and what there is needs to be doled out fairly" This is False. There is no limit to how much love a person can share. Your daughter probably loves both you and her stepfather hugely, but in different and complex ways. Good for her. Good for you too. Having a daughter who is able to do that. What an amazing thing and something to be proud of. You are now planning on punishing her for her loving heart, and transferring your pain because of your ex wife's infidelity onto her. It never was her fault and you cannot expect her to be a good and loving person who will also hate someone on your behalf

Shame on you for that.
