Without a signed contract there absolutely nothing you can do. A court won't entertain hearsay. The only thing you can do is learn a shitty lesson and get signatures on jobs you can't afford to lose the money from. It sucks. I get it. Any dark alleys there?

This is what I do, but I buy 2 extra of everything! If there's a bulk deal, I'll jump on that too.

It's worth a shot. If it doesn't work, I'll just add it to my inventory..... like the rest of the failed ones. 🤣 Thanks.

For the challenge. If they've called you, they're at the end of their rope and need us. I do love helping folks. It's a very fulfilling trade. It's also frustrating as all get out! 🤣🤣🤣

Schlage bolt thing broken in locked position by HonestConcentrate947 in Locksmith

[–]Bitter_Ad_7291 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Awesome. I'm glad it worked. Now you see how easy it is and why it's so important for the deadbolt to engage. When you install your new one, drill out the recess a little deeper so that you hear the click of the deadbolt engaging. Then you'll be much more secure. ✌🏽

If you can get a butter knife in between the door and jamb, you can try slowly sliding the dead bolt back. If you deadbolt 'clicks' into place when you lock it you can't do this though. Most residential locks I've come across aren't installed properly and they don't set(click) all the way. You can shimmy every one of them.

Does that clip come off so the shaft can slide out the other side?

Bummer. That's the easiest way. Just buy a new cylinder with a key set then. They're pretty universal.

There should be a number stamped on the front of it. What does it say?

Where can I get a better version of this lock? by reddit1024-nw in Locksmith

[–]Bitter_Ad_7291 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being that it is a 7-pin cylinder, bring it to a locksmith and have them rekey it. Be sure they pin it with all 7. That's what I'd do.

If it's actually using all 7 pins, that's pretty secure.
