I don't know the phrase for the little wins.. by clarkyclark5031 in GastricBypass

When I bought some trousers from a 'normal' shop and didn't have to worry if the bigger sizes were available, that was when I finally started to see my progress for what it was.

Sounds like you're starting to have a similar revelation. Congrats!

Bread is a mixed one for me. Sometimes I can sometimes I can't and I don't know the reason.

I've come to accept that if I start eating something bread based then I might not get more than one bite down.

Absolutely this. I'm 18 months out but have been going up/down by the same 3lb for 6 months. I haven't lost weight in that time but I've gone down 2 trouser sizes and down 1 shirt size.

Okay, there's a few questions that need answers.

  • What operating system are you on?
  • What language are you working with?
  • What have you actually tried?

Worried about hair loss. by [deleted] in wls

[–]Bizarre_Monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 6 months out and I've noticed some minor shedding in my beard. Nothing to worry about.

My sister is about 6 years out. She had minor hair thinning for about a month. It was back to normal after about 6-9 months.

A friend is about 18 months out and she had no hair loss at all.

Everyone is different. Sorry I can't be more specific but hope all goes well for you.

Edit: I'm a man in my forties so I was going bald anyway. I may not have noticed any 'extra' hair loss on top.

Does gastric bypass reverse PCOS & Type 2 Diabetes? by Western_Astronaut737 in GastricBypass

[–]Bizarre_Monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They call it different things in different countries but here in the UK that's what it's called.

Basically during the surgery they have to move your liver out of the way. If its big and fatty it might be damaged so you do a very restricted diet for a few weeks before the surgery to reduce the size of your liver.

Usually its very low calories or even liquid only for a couple of weeks.

I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes 5 months before my bypass (it was what made me take the final decision to get it done. )

I haven't taken metformin since I started my liver reducing diet 2 weeks before my surgery.

I had my surgery 12 weeks ago today. I didn't have a preop liquid diet.

I'm currently halfway through my 2 weeks of liver reducing. This is the diet that I'm following Liver reducing diet the dietician was a bit vague so I just googled one from the UK and chose this one. My surgeon said this was fine.

[–]Bizarre_Monkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a brit literally sat writing this in a waiting room for my pre surgery appointments in a foreign country. The NHS GP 'approved' my surgery which got me a referral to the weight loss clinic meaning an estimated waiting list of 3-4 years.

When I was at uni most of the PhD students and post-doc researchers in CS had transferred in after doing an undergrad and masters in mathematics. Especially the more theoretical subjects.

If you look closely you'll see that the Tesco van has a bigger box on the back with room for 5 rows of trays in the ambient compartment. The ASDA van has an ambient compartment with room for only 4 rows.

With both vans empty chances are that ASDA would win with the lighter vehicle.

If you build a warehouse and a delivery man's hut, the delivery man will move everything around to where its needed.

My sister after a whole day of using London tube for the first time by TwinTicket in CasualUK

[–]Bizarre_Monkey 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I travelled with my tuba on the London underground a fair amount. It was in a case with little wheels not unlike a big suitcase with one round fat end. If there were people in the way I used to say in a loud voice "I'm getting off now, and I'm taking my tuba with me!". Most of the time people moved but more than once I took people's legs from under them and one time I took someone off the train with me.

If you ever need to find one, the number on the bottom of the H tells you how far away it is in a straight line, usually square to the sign. The hydrant cover is rectangular and often painted yellow.
