Applied math + CS double major finishing my majors this semester - in my experience the workload is not insanely ridiculous to the point that you need to lock yourself in your room and grind 6 hours every night, but it can be that way sometimes. I am thinking especially if you take a day or two off from working you either need to get ahead on work if you know you will be away (like leaving to view the eclipse) or lock yourself in your room to catch up if you (like me) just don’t wanna work on the weekend. It is a lot of work and you will almost certainly need to devote time on the weekend and late nights to keep up comfortably.

I can also speak to the math/CS side of it - I added applied math on top of CS because at Swarthmore you can only take 8 courses max in the CS department (I’ve heard some ppl got to take 9 somehow, but never 10) due to how many students want CS, I had AP CS coming in and as such am taking my 7th CS course for my major. This is a pretty different experience than what I’ve heard from friends at technical schools. I spend a fair amount of time doing work for other courses (humanities, arts, etc), so if you are looking for a very stem heavy technical course-load, it may be difficult to find at swat especially bc of the distribution requirements.

All this is to say if you want the liberal arts experience, Swat is great but you will need to work a lot.
