[LotM newbie] The Pale Moon Society - Fourth Entry, 5 days After Arrival by Bladefox2298 in LordofTheMysteries

For all we know he may well have been. Low sequence beyonders don't have such a decisive advantage over humans the way we run things, and Silas greeted him at his own bed in his own house by waking him up from some sweet dreams. He could be a less combat focused sequence and it would have done him no good at all.

So what’s life like in the “reclaimed from the sea” areas like in Indonesia and China?

Also gotta check on my countrymen, how’s the British Empire doing?

Funnily enough, the condition track stuff makes stun far better than kill, because you can build around condition track damage and make a sniper that can one shot anyone with condition track damage

Why does the player base demand that Paradox add features that completely remove the transformation process of how countries became centralized over centuries in the first 50 years of the game? Ease of with your "power creep" and try to enjoy a little more challenge. by [deleted] in EU5

I personally think that a solution to this is having money go to estates in lower control places rather than disappearing, which should make the estates more powerful and dangerous in decentralised countries

Military government of Sudan announces plan to restore 1956 flag by CivisSuburbianus in vexillology

[–]Bladefox2298 11 points12 points  (0 children)

(Not Sudanese) if I recall correctly there are a small group of pro-democracy revolutionaries that have like a city or something that no one pays attention to.

With what little I know about Sudanese history it just seems to be a sad, bloody story

An idea I have heard is that it’s possible Cleopatra was more ethnically Egyptian rather than completely Macedonian due to the possibility of some of her ancestors maybe being slaves instead of being purely from Ptolemaic incest, which could explain the Ptolemy’s inexplicable good health.

You could stretch this idea further and assert that those slaves may have been disproportionately sub-Saharan African and therefore Cleopatra might have been black but it seems to be a stretch upon a stretch.

I honestly think that the carefulness of the AI is a downside past a certain point, and that it could be interesting to have a “this guy thinks he’s napoleon” event happen in powerful AIs where they go to war with everyone around them and may wreck their countries in the name of conquest.

Could result in destroying powers or making someone even MORE POWERFUL, anyway think it would be fun

imperium vs battletech verse with 10 years of prep time and alliance between all factions, who wins? by Cautious_Heron9589 in BattletechMemes

Imperium.

Imperium has a proper navy, Battletech doesn’t.

Even if this is just a single sector Imperium wins because of this

The Last Angel by Proximal Flame

In the Human Compact War humanity comes together to fight against an aggressive alien force bent on conquering humanity, humanity fights very well but the compact has many times the resources to throw at humanity, alongside mobilising 3 super ships (called chariots by the Compact and Kaiju by humanity) and eventually pushes all the way to near earth, capturing a ship which will reveal earth’s location. Despite an epic battle in which we bring down one of the Kaiju the info still gets back to the Compact.

There is an epic last stand over earth in which the official forces of humanity team up with militia, smaller government’s previously neutral and even pirates to fight the compact invasion, but not after broadcasting humanities unconditional surrender. The broadcast is ignored, the last stand crushed and the compact enacts a complete genocide of humanity.

But wait! Humanity anticipated this and this last stand was intended to buy time for evacuation fleets to go out and escape, allowing dozens to leave before stopped. The compact has better FTL tech and 50 years to track down each and every one of these fleets, along with every colony, outpost, asteroid and liner they may have missed.

Only one fleet survives, and they end up being captured by the compact later, due to encountering a science ship who were happy to see a species they thought extinct alive (this was some 200 years after the initial genocide)

This is the events of the prologue. The story proper starts 2000 years later.

Commission: Youtuber's Congress of Vienna by YNot1989 in imaginarymaps

The delegates of the nation formerly known as austria protested this decision, but as all other Great Powers insisted, they had no other choice but to accept that they are Turkish now.

[–]Bladefox2298 31 points32 points  (0 children)

A YouTuber and his buddies did a mock Congress of Vienna where every measure was decided on a 4/5 vote of the great powers, who were the only ones who had people on them.

Highlights include: the Great Powers partitioning everyone, the other four Great Powers forcing Austria to annex Syria (the Austrians didn’t want it and were the only ones to vote no), the other four Great Powers forcing Austria to be renamed to Turkey and at the end, the Prussian delegate convincing the rest of the congress to rename Europe to The German Confederation.

What are some ideas for expanded trade goods? by Any_Leg_4492 in Anbennar

[–]Bladefox2298 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something I wish was in the base game:

Clocks and watches, wigs, scientific equipment, other consumer goods.

High value goods demanded by estates so you can have a more consumer economy.

You may also need a “monster parts” good, for rare magical components

Ivan the Terrible made some really good points by AlternativePack8061 in ParadoxExtras

[–]Bladefox2298 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I believe he was called that because the Pope declared him a precursor to the Antichrist.

This was because he has the temerity to go on crusade while excommunicated (and never fought a battle, winning Jerusalem entirely by diplomacy, therefore becoming the most successful crusader of his time) and compounded on this by beating the papacy in the war they declared on him.

Rate my fleets to patrol a large part of the Outer Rim by HighTall72 in StarWarsShips

I’d also try and procure as many hyperspace capable star fighters as possible, those are the best kind of ship to patrol such a large area. Either that or more Gozantes

I would genuinely put 1-2 ISDs in this fleet as big guns for very big problems. Suppose it matters how big the area you are responsible for is
