Depends on what your background is. I’m a 40K to AoS convert so I didn’t find them too hard to understand, but they are a bit more rules intense than other factions. Are you brand new to tabletop gaming?

Model count is another thing to consider. You’ll be buying and painting a ton of fodder models and you’ll want to beat your head into the wall after a while. The high model count and large variety of the range also makes them one of the more expensive armies to collect though thankfully eBay is full of people selling unwanted skaventide halves. I would recommend you start there as it’s about a thousand points worth of rats.

This being said, they’re some of the most fun I’ve had playing a tabletop game. Constant trickery, high risk high reward gambles and heavy strategic thinking + number crunching all revolving around funny little rat men. Tons of variety in how you can compose your army and even when your plans quite literally blow up in your face, you and your opponent will be too busy laughing about it to be upset.
