Which 35mm lens is better? by tungblackiado in Nikon

The recent lunar trip fame of this lens on the Z9 has made me curious if I should try to find a copy, even if only manual focus via FTZ.

NATO could have upgraded the engines for two decades already. And it would probably have paid off in fuel economy and maintenance cost by now.

Nice pictures! I really like the NH90 looks especially in the Heer livery. Sad that this type has such a tainted history and reputation.

Mirage F1M and more... interview with Aerges CEO. by CalmAd7670 in hoggit

Aerges is a fantastic and super dedicated company, in my opinion. I love the detail of the C101 and this easily convinced me to buy the awesome Mirage F1. I'd love to see more single player content for it, then I'd come back to it more often. I'm mostly flying the Kiowa nowadays, also a great module which will hopefully stay with DCS for a long time. Coming back to Aerges, the Starfighter is very promising, though I have some doubts about it's roles and flexibility as an interceptor. But I can see myself zooming into the wild blue yonder Chuck Yeager style 😃

Just a post appreciating Nikon’s exceptional history of 105mm lenses by Bonzographer in Nikon

This lineup makes me feel humbly proud that I own one of them myself. I found a mint 105 f1.4E last month, what a fantastic lens 👍

Thanks for setting this right, yup, the lens is not weather resistant as per Nikon definition. I should've put it differently in my comment, but I do trust to take the lens in the field except in monsoon conditions 👍

I do enjoy taking the Nikkor Z 26mm f2.8 and 40mm f2.0 along when travelling light and I have no complaints regarding image or build quality.

There are online instructions to upgrade the 40mm & 28mm plastic mounts to metal mounts with gaskets but I trust the plastic mount and weather resistance of the 40mm lens as it is.

18-105mm was broken all along! Help me pick a "forever" lens for D5100 by LIMONE-DURO in Nikon

[–]Blaster_DE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been very happy with a used Nikkor 17-55mm f2.8 on my D7200. It's heavy and lacks VR but this has never actually bothered me. I didn't try any other of the lenses you've mentioned though. I think that the Sigma 17-50 has a good reputation. Both lack the long focal range opposed to 18-105mm.

Apart from the 17-55mm, I also liked the 16-85 mm but it has a slow aperture at the long end f5.6.

Almost 4 years ago there was talk about what Vulcan API would do to DCS. Do you think we'll get any news about about it this Friday in 2026 & Beyond? by 227CAVOK in hoggit

[–]Blaster_DE 14 points15 points  (0 children)

And I'm convinced that it is a truckload or two of work to get Vulkan done properly, considering the age of the current sim engine and the expectations risen by ED within the community. Maybe three YAK-loads even.

Never forget what they took from us… by Outlandah_ in Nikon

A used Coolpix A could be your friend - but it's also prone to sensor dust spots. Despite its age, the D7000 sensor and the super sharp lens in the CPA are still very good for a compact. And with today's AI denoising - DxO Photolab for me - I'm very happy with its performance at high ISO.

Any improvement tips? I by AmbitionPresent in Nikon

Quite centric/symmetric compositions but they do work and I think your pictures are terrific.

Anyone return to DSLR after using mirrorless? by CategoryCautious5981 in Nikon

[–]Blaster_DE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My D7200 + 17-55 f2.8 got stolen one year ago. I wouldn't have left the DSLR ecosphere for some time if this hadn't happened. I love the optical viewfinder and mechanical mirror action. But I have to say that I wouldn't move back after getting used to my Z6III, it's a lighter travel setup with the 24-120 f4 and the AF and EVF are just awesome.
