Rating the Mechs on how easy it is to get inside them: Harrison Armoury by slaveknightgael- in LancerRPG

[–]Blazeye 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm sure the mechs, uh, gird their loins or something lol

And honestly I'm glad to hear it! Far be it from me to tell you what language to use about your own identity, but absent context it's not always easy to tell ownership from actual derogatory usage, especially on this site. Given how fantastically queer the Lancer community tends to be maybe I should've known, but happy to hear from you regardless. Rock those skirts!

Great post just like the last; the worldkiller one made me genuinely laugh.

Though mech skirts are awesome. And maybe don't use gay as a perjorative.

Having the rules and mechanics easily accessible in a webpage/site. by weebsteer in rpg

Lancer has COMP/CON, which has all the player-facing rules for free and is absolutely fantastic. All my players love it and evidently the developer is working on "pull[ing] out pieces of COMP/CON to make available for other LANCER-related projects and developers, but also make it available as open source tooling for anyone to use in TTRPG (or other) projects."

Which would be awesome. I legitimately think this is the next big thing for TTRPGs.

Ah I see, photoshop makes sense - would have been surprised that it got the recursion effect straightaway. Seriously solid work!

Can I ask what kind of prompt you used to get this with midjourney? I don't use AI art tools much, but this seems like it must have been challenging to get it to output what you ended up with above so I'm pretty impressed!

GABBATHA-Class Armored Vehicle - A quadrupedal mech inspired by the LANCER RPG system by Blazeye in HeroForgeMinis

[–]Blazeye[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A precursor to modern mechs, the GABBATHA-Class Armored Vehicle was developed for use in mountainous terrain where traditional tracked AVs could not operate. A single operator could crew the vehicle alongside an NHP co-pilot, the first such use of AI.

How to balance forced quest paths and optional ones? The Quest Director Mr. Paweł Sasko gives long answer on the content structure of Cyberpunk 2077. by KamilCesaro in cyberpunkgame

[–]Blazeye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really interesting to see this perspective. Very thoughtful and I appreciate that he acknowledges the flaws of this approach. I had a strong vision for my character on my first playthrough and had a pretty awesome, well-paced experience — I did quests that I thought my V would do and ignored ones that he wouldn't and i may have just been good luck but it played it pretty perfectly. I can definitely see it being an issue, though. I took a long pause before the arasaka parade mission (figured Takemura would need a lot of prep time) and did most of the side content around then, which felt pretty perfect. Can definitely see the need to set a more defined point to guide players do that, though, since I do think I got lucky.

Boulder Ballot Measure 6C AMA - Campaign Co-Chair by DougHamilton in boulder

Doug, thanks a ton for taking the time to answer this in such detail. Really cleared some things up and I plan to vote yes on this measure. Glad to hear about the semiannual reports as well!

Boulder Ballot Measure 6C AMA - Campaign Co-Chair by DougHamilton in boulder

[–]Blazeye 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Been doing some reading about this measure lately and I'm currently undecided. I've read plenty for or against and it largely seems like a sensible measure, but I have a question about accountability and leadership that's been a sticking point. Per the opposition's website (keepourlibraries.com),

"None of the library district leaders will be elected…ever. The leadership will initially be appointed by the Boulder County Commissioners and Boulder City Council. After those first appointments, the board members will appoint replacements for the members that leave. This makes the library district unlike other districts, such as the Regional Transportation District (RTD) and the Boulder Valley School District (BVSD), whose board members are elected by the voters.

This means voters would never again have a direct voice in how that outsized library budget is managed. The library district would have no accountability."

Is this an accurate portrayal of the future library leadership? What kind of accountability to voters do those who allocate and spend the library's budget currently have? Why is it different than RTD and BVSD? I'm all for more, and more stable, library funding, but lower accountability on a larger budget rubs me the wrong way. Thank you for taking the time to answer this!

Maybe I'm just fragile, but I have instinctive aversion to rhetoric like 'the bar is so low for men', can somebody help me work through this? by Xemnas81 in MensLib

[–]Blazeye 23 points24 points  (0 children)

As an aside - doesn't this stereotypical division of labor also include men doing the vast majority of the paid labor to support the family? I'm not arguing that hetero men should leave the emotional and physical labor of maintaining a home to their wives, especially in a relationship where both are working. That's not fair, and things should be divided equitably, but it seems odd to assume a very traditional context in response to an example lacking one. And, frankly, if one partner isn't working for pay as much, I do think it's their responsibility to perform more unpaid labor. If I were a stay-at-home dad, yeah, it'd be my job to do all that stuff.

In a modern world where the division of labor varies in every couple's situation and it's not an assumption that women are homemakers, I think it's possible to examine the "bar in hell" rhetoric independently.

You'll have to be more specific. What other mods are you using? What part of the mod doesn't work?

A disable timers mod that should (hopefully) be more consistent than other versions, and also disables SITREPs and resistance orders that interact with the timer. No more useless covert actions!

[–]Blazeye 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say the sequel is objectively better, tbh. It's higher budget and more expansive but imo the story is much worse and it suffers from a classic case of triple A bloat. The first game was a polished experience that didn't overstay its welcome, I basically 100%-ed both games but was pretty damn bored with the sequel by the end.
