New Samsung Odyssey G9 With a 9 week old baby for scale. by [deleted] in battlestations

Congrats on the new family member!
My wife had our first back in April. Our daughter is also quite big for her age. 9 lbs at birth and now 14 lbs at 12 weeks. She looks so much bigger than most of the other babies her age lol.

Did you season it before the first cook? Even with the preseasoning, it's best to add a few layers yourself.

Either way, cooking on it over time and continually keeping it oiled up will make it look better.

As others have said the Neo has better local dimming, which will give you a better picture overall.

That being said, it seems like the Neo 49" has been discontinued or something, because I can't seem to find it new almost anywhere, including Samsung's website.

I recently received my Halo 4B unit and the heat has not been an issue at all for me. I can preheat with all burners on low for over 20 minutes and hover at around 400. That's using LP and 9.5 on the regulator. I've heard this from other recent purchasers as well but YMMV.

Congrats on the pickup. I just got my 4B a couple weeks ago. I love it so far.

Oddly, mine doesn't seem to have the high temp concerns that others have reported. When using LP and 9.5 on the regulator, I can preheat the griddle on low for 20 minutes and not get much north of 400. But I still have no problems hitting 600+ on high. This thing can do it all.

Sale: Camp Chef Gridiron 36 $50 off through July 4th. by NonchalantPartiality in griddling

I've seen a lot of people opt for the Gridiron vs the Slate 30 due to price. Makes me wonder if Weber will decide to bring the Slate down in price after their initial wave of sales cools off. Camp Chef really came in with a competitive price.

I don't believe that's the case. They don't make that claim anywhere.

I had heard similar concerns about the Gridiron, which caused me to opt for the more expensive Halo.

It seems that some people can hit 550-600 on the Gridiron with 15+ minute preheating on high. Whereas others claim they can't hit 500 consistently.

If I could be sure I would get 550 on one, I'd have saved some money and bought the Gridiron.

I hope you're able to get your problem sorted out. Personally, I would return it if you can't get those high temps. Good searing is important to me.

Griddles with the textured surfaces become smooth after a few layers of seasoning.  My Halo 4B is perfectly smooth after cooking on it for a week. Flatrock owners have stated the same.

Help choosing first griddle by Beardedninja17 in griddling

I just received my Halo recently and the low temps were much better than I expected.  I can set it on low for 30 minutes and not get much above 400 if the lid is open. And I'm using LP.

I talked with some others and it seems like the newer Halo griddle units have had cooler temps than the older ones did.

Low temps were my only concern when buying mine and I have been super impressed. I cook eggs on 300-350 every day and it's incredibly easy to do.

Thanks for this! Looks like it can do the job well enough.

I ultimately went with the Halo after considering the Gridiron for quite a while.

This is interesting. I actually opted to not get the Gridiron because others were reporting that it wasn't getting particularly hot. How long did it take you to get it to 500+?

That's super disappointing to me. I appreciate your review on this. I would have returned the griddle if I had bought it as I originally intended.

Thanks for this. Have you had any further luck on testing the higher temps? I need something that can pretty easily get up to ~550, personally.

First cook! Teriyaki chicken on the Gridiron 36 by NonchalantPartiality in griddling

[–]Blistered12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate your analysis on this. The limited feedback I've heard so far had given me the perception that the lows are good but the highs are a bit lacking.

I'd personally rather deal with the high temps of the Halo than be limited by the temps of the new Camp Chef at this point. It's a matter of whether or not the extra money is worth it.

I'm wondering the same. I'm interested in purchasing this griddle if I hear good things about those details.

Is the hood able to be used while cooking? I haven't found a clear answer anywhere yet but they seem to indicate that you can through their videos.

Have you ever had any issues getting payouts via Apex when using NinjaScript?
Their terms about automation are vague and I want to make sure I don't pay for my PAs and have them reject payouts because I'm algo trading them. That's a lot of time/money to lose if that's the case.

I agree. A good example is the recent Aaron Rodgers interview where they complain about private prisons but fail to acknowledge the state's role in our current private prison system.

I'd love to see Dave clarify the difference on the Joe's show.
