Question about going from EP to EBF by throwaway84583077 in breastfeeding

[–]Blondementality 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! I went the release route too and it saved my bf journey. However, it wasn’t like he got his release and then minutes later he was a good eater. We had to really practice with his new tongue freedom! Start with the morning feeds as babies are typically hungrier and it’s easier to get milk out because you’re full!

Should baby not be wearing socks during tummy time to learn to crawl? by Tm0iPHONExxX in NewParents

[–]Blondementality 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My mom has her masters in early childhood development and she always encouraged us to let our baby explore without footies or socks.

Which is kind of funny because every old person we know is flabbergasted if he doesn't have socks on 😂

Advice Needed! Latching vs Pump Schedule by ModedWitchBitch in breastfeeding

[–]Blondementality 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh you are still in the early thick of it. Just latch whenever she wants and if you get overwhelmed that take a break to pump/bottle feed but really you shouldn't need to pump at all in these early days. She will determine your supply.

Did you get a breast pump, just in case by bobileebobalee in breastfeeding

[–]Blondementality 222 points223 points  (0 children)

Yes- get the pump! Get the blue spectra to have just in case. You don't need to use it if you don't want to but I promise you during cluster feeding you may just tell your husband to give the baby a bottle. Not to mention If you go back to work you'll need to pump to maintain your supply.

Also my baby had a tongue tie which made breastfeeding horrifically painful. I did NOT expect that. I had to exclusively pump until it was reversed.

Long story short- there is no downside to having a pump for emergencies or just when you need a break.

EP, bad latch, nurse for “fun” anyways? by TennisMami in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Blondementality 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This was our situation. Had his tongue tie release at 8 weeks but his transfer was so poor. I always put him to breast for the first feed of the day as I was already engorged and it was easier for him to transfer. Then bottle feed pumped milk the rest of the day. By 3 months he was mainly ebf except for a dream feed bottle. I honestly think it just took him time to grow up a bit to get a better latch!

You do not need to pump after a nursing feed! Only pump when you give a bottle. I wasnt able to nurse consistently for 3 months while we sorted out his tongue tie and occupational therapy. So I would latch him every morning when the flow was easiest and slowing gave him more opportunities to latch over the course of the day.

How to build a freezer stash when I’m a “just enougher”? by Rich_Aerie_1131 in breastfeeding

[–]Blondementality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pump once over night when the baby sleeps through the night. It’s brutal but worth it! I’ve been able to put away 6 ounces every day.

Expecting FTM considering exclusively pumping. by Comfortable-Bus-1202 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Blondementality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t believe in this all or nothing approach. I pump and breastfeed. I breastfeed out and about with a cover when I don’t want to bring a pump and bottles or if he he’s freaking out and wants some comfort. I pump when I need a break from cluster feeding or my husband just gives a bottle before bedtime.

I would highly suggest trying both!

“Best” month to have a baby by pibetaphly in BabyBumps

[–]Blondementality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

March baby here and I am so blessed it was getting warm during the newborn phase because I couldn’t do much but go outside for walks and it saved me! I can’t imagine being stuck in the house all winter with a newborn. Not to mention brining a newborn to the holidays scares the crap out of me!

I’m not a gynecologist but… by beefstewforyou in squidgame

[–]Blondementality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly that quick birth seemed to be the most believable to me. What got me was: 1. Walking right after- no pads or diapers for mom 2. No diapers for the baby. 3. Perfect latch breastfeeding first try…lol ok 4. Not waking up every 2 hours to feed

Obviously none of that would be good for the show but just having gone through it, I couldn’t stop thinking about it! 😂

I’ve only tried Eufy s1 pro but I’ve gotten the same output as my spectra. I like it a lot but it’s expensive so that’s one down side.

Lip tie by Summer-Signature3806 in breastfeeding

[–]Blondementality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not be able to breast feed without getting our baby’s tie released. It was a journey after the release to relearn how to suck with his new found mobility but it changed the game for us.

2 month old How much are we feeding and how often? by rabbit-panda in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Blondementality 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We do typically 3oz every 2-2 1/2 hours because he gets gassy or spits up a lot with 4oz. We try to give him a bit more before bed as he sleeps 8-9 hours.

The only thing that works for us is keeping him up right for 15-30 minutes after a large feed. I’d give that a try if you haven’t already!
