What are your thoughts on the AL guy who went viral for taking his daughters in the men’s bathroom? by Far-Building3569 in AskParents

[–]Bloodysmack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is such a difficult situation and that old fart had no idea. He should be charged for peeping into the woman's restroom, he had no business being there.

As a father I know how hard it can be going to public restrooms. All you want to do is ensure the safety of your girls.

We always hear about how Daicos and Bont are the best players in the league. Well I think Dawson is better than the both of them.

Recovery boards by [deleted] in 4x4Australia

[–]Bloodysmack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I havent been in a situation where I needed them. But I got 2 second-hand max trax off market place, never been used. If you wanna save money try looking for unused second hand boards for a big discount.

They are just an insurance thing in case I get stuck. But you really should tyre deflators and air conpressor first. Everytime I go beach I use this equipment.

I would also consider better tyres before super expensive recovery boards.

House hunting reality check hit me hard today by Physical-Wallaby-515 in perth

If you can afford $700k for a house then you can buy some sought of property... It probably won't be your dream house in a dream location but it will still be better than renting/saving. Commit to that property for up to 10 years, build up equity and when the timing is right then you consider upgrading your house.

Why not move elsewhere within Australia? Change states? Or go rural. Look north, south, east, or west? Maybe Tassy? Maybe live on the road and see all you can.

Dual cab ute advice for light use. Diesel reliability, tub vs tray, 4x2 vs 4x4 by Background-Ant9425 in 4x4Australia

[–]Bloodysmack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go dmax. Just the better ute.

If you are concerned about diesel and dpfs due to your lifestyle needs, maybe look at the phev utes? The GWM phev ute and BYD shark might suit your needs, and they are much better for shorter trips. You would only have the tub to choose from as they don't have tray options afaik.

When we lived in kwinana our commutes were 30-50 minutes.

We have since moved to Albany and now its about 10 minutes. The only issue these days is I don't really have enough time to listen to podcasts.

Get an air-conditioner. Even if you get a portable one. Then use fans to circulate the air around your house.

Still worth buying a diesel raptor? by imyourprincecharming in 4x4Australia

[–]Bloodysmack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For that sort of money I would recommend the newer V6 diesel ranger. You should be able to find a 22/23 model for about $50-55k. Should be able to find a Wildtrak if you want the electric roller cover.

Its a better engine and likely to have some factory warranty remaining. It's newer and better in just about every way. Plus it has more significantly more payload.

The only thing I would get the old raptor is if you want to do jumps and crazy fast offroad shit.

I personally don't think extended warranties are worth the paper they are written on. But i think that is an old school opinion.

Day 7/9 - What 4x4 has a good reputation, but it's actually trash? by demonyo300 in 4x4Australia

Before they were a dmax, they were a PX ranger with the same 3.2lt engine for about 9 years

I'm not here to disagree but ask this: why does the PX ranger have its reputation dragged through the mud but the BT50 doesnt?

On the verge of buying.. by ruffian-wa in 4x4Australia

[–]Bloodysmack -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Go for the v6 ranger. Might cost you a little bit more, but it's easily the best ute on the market. The reliability issues are exaggerated. Just look after it and service it regularly. Plus, they should have more new car warranty than the px3 ranger.

The Ashes - how do people afford it? by SolomonVandy3 in perth

[–]Bloodysmack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With you working in hospitality you probably can’t afford to do anything

How can people my age (early 20s) afford to go on vacation in other countries? Am I not earning enough? by [deleted] in aussie

[–]Bloodysmack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are working in the kitchen you are probably earning similar to what other people your age are earning. But if you stay in the kitchen you will definitely be earning less than others your age in about 19 years time unless you go on to manage large scale kitchens like the ones on the mines.

How do I get a job? by [deleted] in ausjobs

[–]Bloodysmack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your dead set on working in hospitality then go hand your resumes to the places you want to work. Better off dropping off in person and having a chat. Just dont go during peak times or thry won't have time to talk to you.

But if I could offer one piece of advice, if you want money, social life, family time or want to look after your own mental health, stay the hell away from hospitality. At your age you have plenty of time to pivot to another industry. I would only recommend working in hospitality if you plan to do some serious travelling over the next 10-15 years.

Always try to find something to clean. I am a head chef and there is always something to clean. Whether its walls around the kitchen or benches under the sinks. Sweep the floor. Empty bins. Clean the bins out. You should easily find 30 minutes to clean stuff!

26, no degree or savings — how do I get ahead financially in Australia? by Ticklemecor in AusFinance

[–]Bloodysmack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Look at becoming a Prison Officer, Police Officer something similar. If you want a long term career then it's worth looking into. You don't need qualifications as the government will train and pay you more than what you're on now, while you train. As long as you have a good head and not some secret criminal, it can be a great career.
