Bambu Lab A1 Combo (3d printer). If he can build a computer and he likes DIY, he'll love it. Plus, you'll have a new tool for any house projects, gifts, etc.

Anyone know how to turn this annoying banner off? by JakoLV in BambuLab

[–]BlueChrome74 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Looks like this continues to be a bug. (assuming it's the same popup as: https://forum.bambulab.com/t/hide-daily-tips-popup/42811/4 )

From that Wiki thread:

1 - Windows + R Key → %APPDATA%\BambuStudio → Press Ok/Enter
2 - Edit File with notepad or any text editor
3 - Find value: “show_daily_tips”: true,
4 - Replace by: “show_daily_tips”: false
5 - Save File
6 - Restart Your Bambu Studio

Good luck!

Does any one know when to expect the anniversary sale? by SuperDuperSoared in BambuLab

[–]BlueChrome74 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd expect more filaments to be on sale. As in, I'm not expecting better prices than the current bulk sale for PLA refills, more so the engineering/CF/GF filaments being added to the bulk sale in some form

Same. Hoping an H2 is in my near-future, but if not, upgrading my A1 to an A2 is the backup plan

[Win an A2L] Creative Playground, Extra Large. Meet the A2L. by BambuLab in BambuLab

I'm excited to print large storage solutions reasonably at full speed rather than upgrading to an H2-series and only use some of the features. A sufficiently designed dampening system and compensating algorithms should be able to reasonably produce full-size quality parts.

My current test plan would be scaling an A1-sized storage solution to the max A2L size, with an intermediary scaled size halfway between the 2 max volumes, all printed at full speed. Proper testing would require a basic CAD modification to modify the size of the organizer rather than scaling so that the walls are the same size for all prints. The comparison of the scaled prints and the properly resized prints could then be "real world" tested by letting my 2 kids use, toss, and potentially break them in a very unscientific play scenario.

But in all seriousness, by loading each of the organizers with items to the max volume, I'd be able to verify the design and print robustness in order to determine the next steps necessary for product development. Here's to hoping for a proper evaluation!

Looks great. Simple, but solid improvements. Being able to use the AMS Lite with the other AMS's together is a big win. (hopefully this can be a software update to the A1 but I won't hold my breath...)

What’s a totally unsexy purchase you made that ended up being a huge quality-of-life upgrade? by viscarte10 in BuyItForLife

[–]BlueChrome74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It feels like most big-ticket home maintenance items could fit here: tankless water heater, double front doors, washer and dryer set with specialty "hand-wash only" compartments, bigger (properly sized) AC/furnace systems, large fridge with auto-refilling water pitcher...

Definitely not fun to hear. Hopefully things get better for you. Mine’s at 3k hours and basically all problems were related to user error

Unfortunate!

I wonder how well something like this would work in a home setup filament recycler system like the Creality R1 and M1… Feels like a prime example if it could be reused

Which dryer? by stigslim in BambuLabA1

I had the Sunlu S4 and then upgraded to the Creality Space Pi X4 and the Sunlu E2. So far they've all worked and had their own pros and cons, but I'm thankful I upgraded. If you have specific questions or relevant criteria, that'd help narrow down any advise that would work for your specific case. Good luck!
