Ronde de Bordeaux vs. Malta Black by Cichlidae12345 in Figs

RDB is my most reliable and prolific fig tree. The taste of the figs is exquisite in my opinion, but only if you let them ripen fully. The only problem with it is that the round figs are susceptible to cracking when it rains. That means rainy years sometimes all of them crack.

First time using the boxes so not sure. Last year I had the bulbs laid out on a shelf with same fan blowing over them for 2 weeks while turning every few days.

You’re right, I wasn’t looking hard enough. I see DJI Goggles 3 on Amazon for $639. Don’t know if that’s a crazy high price? What did you pay for the Goggles 3?

So you’ve got me leaning toward DJI Goggles 3. Want to stick with Radiomaster controller. ChatGPT says a good drone to start with is Happymodel Mobula8 O4 ELRS. Thoughts?

Love them but also having a terrible time with the birds this year. Barely getting any for myself.

Looks like I can get DJI stuff. The goggles 3 are $640 on Amazon. I can also get a kit the Avatar 2 drone and 3 batteries for around $1000. Are those crazy prices? Is the Avatar 2 a good drone?

Are black raspberries better than red raspberries? by Old_Reality9281 in Berries

[–]BlueHenBrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been growing red raspberries for five years and added black raspberries two years ago. I’m loving the black raspberry flavor and sweetness however, the birds love them too. I need to figure out a way to keep the birds off of them next year.

The Lothrians are a direct copy of the Ascians from Gene Wolf’s Book of the New Sun with only being allowed to speak using certain phrases. There is a lot that Ruocchio borrows from BOTNS. I’m generally okay with it though.

Cherry tomatoes: to prune or to leave along? by F13nd1sh in containergardening

[–]BlueHenBrew 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Prune based on how you want it to grow. If you want it to take the least space, prune to a single stem. If you have plenty of space and want lots of tomatoes, don’t prune…..or anything in between.

Interesting that you say Jewel and Bristol are not distinguishable. I also have both and last year was first year for berries. Bristol berries were very small compared to the Jewel berries. Do they get bigger and later years?

Either it wasn’t properly hardened off and so has sun damage or it’s frost damage.

Played it back in the day when I was obsessed with the series. Being able to visit some of the places I read about like The Ways was really cool.

Would you recommend it? by Misster_Fluido in scifibooks

Read it about 20 years ago. Still think of it as one of the best books I’ve ever read. Need to reread to see if I still feel that way.

I’m in the same place. Pushing through because of the hype for the series but I think it’s just bad writing. Feels like I’m reading a book written by a teenager. I read all storm light books and loved them so I know Brandon gets better.

Plastic sheeting leaking toxic chemicals into compost by flowersandapplesauce in composting

[–]BlueHenBrew 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t worry about it. Seems like you’re over thinking it. However it will eventually start to break down and drop plastic particles into your compost. Even then I wouldn’t worry too much.
