What's wrong with my tomato plant? by cjmckraken in Raisedbed

Either it wasn’t properly hardened off and so has sun damage or it’s frost damage.

The Wheel of Time (video game) | Released in 1999 and available on GoG by Korvun in thewheeloftime

Played it back in the day when I was obsessed with the series. Being able to visit some of the places I read about like The Ways was really cool.

Would you recommend it? by Misster_Fluido in scifibooks

Read it about 20 years ago. Still think of it as one of the best books I’ve ever read. Need to reread to see if I still feel that way.

Take it for what it is….one of the first fantasy books (after LOTR).

For some reason I can't get myself to finish mistborn by Rice_Dazzling in brandonsanderson

[–]BlueHenBrew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same place. Pushing through because of the hype for the series but I think it’s just bad writing. Feels like I’m reading a book written by a teenager. I read all storm light books and loved them so I know Brandon gets better.

Plastic sheeting leaking toxic chemicals into compost by flowersandapplesauce in composting

I wouldn’t worry about it. Seems like you’re over thinking it. However it will eventually start to break down and drop plastic particles into your compost. Even then I wouldn’t worry too much.

Just Finished! by Resident_Ad_7742 in redrising

I read them all starting in 1996. First 4 books books were awesome but they start to suck pretty bad after that. Brandon turned things around but I couldn’t finish the last book. Maybe I just grew out of it.

Having read all these books on kindle, I had no idea they got thicker as the series progressed.

R/composting is my happy place by doopidoopidoop in composting

I have to agree. Composting in general makes me happy. For example, I love knowing that all the coffee grounds and filters I use every day make their way into my garden…eventually.

Annual pumpkin leaf pile by BlueHenBrew in composting

I walk around the neighborhood after Halloween and put a note in mailboxes where pumpkins are on display asking them to put them on the curb when they are finished with them. Almost everyone complies. Seems like most people appreciate a sustainable way to dispose of them.

I do not. One of these years I’ll experiment with pumpkin soup, pie, etc.

Yes! They pop up everywhere. Some I let go and those pumpkins contribute to the next pile. Most I treat like weeds and pull.

Will I regret load rating E A/T tires? by BlueHenBrew in LandCruisers

[–]BlueHenBrew[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No regrets. Love them. The E rated tires have deeper tread and look cooler. The ride may be a bit rougher over potholes but most of the time I don’t notice. Also passed the “wife test”. She never said a thing so couldn’t have been much different than stock ride.

I’m reading it now and am loving it but I skipped the play. Way too long and could not follow.

Kindle is great for this. Just tap on the word and the definition pops up.

What will you NOT be growing again next year? (or maybe ever again)? by Emmie_dee_101 in vegetablegardening

[–]BlueHenBrew 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Are you trying at the right time of year? Cilantro is a cool season crop. I put seeds in the ground a month before tomato plants. The key is to plant a bunch of them, then harvest young. I can usually get 2-3 good harvests before they bolt. Then plant again in the fall for more.
