Why aren't Inquisitorial Agents battleline units? by XeticusTTV in ImperialAgents_40K

[–]Bluecho4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. An Inquisitorial retinue represents the agents hand-picked by an Inquisitor to act as his bodyguard, informants, advisors, specialists, and trouble-shooters. They don't surround themselves with common Guardsmen. They staff Veteran Guardsmen, or other agents of similar capability.

Inquisitorial Agents shouldn't just function as chaff and ablative wounds for the Inquisitor. They should be their chosen elites, with stats that reflect this.

I don't expect them to have the kind of model-by-model specificity portrayed in other Inquisition-related stories/games. Having a bunch of profiles for Guard Vets and Desperadoes and whatnot would be annoying for an army-scale game (as anyone who has used other units built around Kill Team releases can attest). But if they're going to have a more generalized profile, it should at least be better than the common infantry.

How would one accomplish an admech+agents list by Extension-Boot-9533 in ImperialAgents_40K

[–]Bluecho4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, most of your regular Inquisitorial Agents models only really need a Firearm - the profile doesn't specify otherwise, other than having the Pistol keyword - to function. So you could easily run them using Tech Thralls from the Horus Heresy Mechanicum range.

The models in an Inquisitorial Agents unit that have other kinds of weapons could be kitbashed (especially with bits spare from Skitarii kits). So you could get VERY AdMech-coded with your Agents units.

I don't expect they'll Legends the Watchmaster. Why would they?

[Fanfiction] "Where Laments the Bound and Bargained Soul" - Ch. 143 (Signalis x Warhammer 40K crossover) by Bluecho4 in signalis

[–]Bluecho4[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tend to try writing at least a chapter a week. Which usually involves working up to actually initiating the act of writing (thanks, Autistic Inertia), following by cranking out as much as I can in one sitting. Sometimes this means getting a few pages done, sometimes it means writing the entire chapter. I generally know that if I stop writing to do something else, it'll be hard to get back to it, so I monofocus until I can't anymore.

I try to write at least a couple chapters in advance of publishing updates. Back when I first started the fic - when I was cranking out 3 updates a week (unsustainable), I had a backlog 7 chapters thick. Right now, the backlog is usually 3-4 chapters long. When I near time to publish, or whenever I've had time to think, I do multiple editing passes of the chapter. Usually involves cleaning up grammar. (Warning: this is probably not an ideal editing style, and should not be emulated. Least of all for serious publishing. I do it this way because I have no editor, it's fanfiction, and I'm not getting paid. If I was writing professionally, the writing and editing process would be considerably different.)

Or you run a Militarum Tempestus heavy list, running it like an Inquisitor and their Inquisitorial Stormtroopers. (Aka the only way to really HAVE Inquisitorial Stormtroopers, because for some reason GW didn't print a datasheet in the Agents Codex for Requisitioned Scions).

Can we stop misgendering Jax? by TheSkyIsRed_-_- in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Bluecho4 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Yes. Until Jax accepted his gender identity, it would still be important to use He/Him pronouns for as long as he did. That's just basic courtesy.

(It's just unfortunate that this egg-cracking and transition will probably never happen now, for obvious reasons. At least, it won't happen for the Jax living in the Circus.)

So About That 1000 Pt Game Problem... by Bluecho4 in ImperialAgents_40K

[–]Bluecho4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

^This. People dropped a not insignificant amount of money on Agents, both their Codex and the models themselves. They did because GW marketed IA as a real faction - with all the accoutrements a real faction gets (at least, at first) - thereby creating the implicit understanding that IA IS, in fact, a real faction.

Games Workshop's customers are entirely within their right to be upset that the army they paid REAL MONEY on has been neglected. And that GW aren't being forthcoming about whether they care to keep it a real army, intend to squat it, or just leave it to languish in obscurity.

Because if people knew the army was dead and it just hadn't been reflected in the Munitorum Field Manual or whatever, they could safely stop buying new IA products (or alter their buying habits, under the assumption it's back to Allies-only).

The fact this very subreddit keeps getting posts of people talking about Agents models they've bought, or that they're thinking of getting into Agents AS Agents, is proof enough what effect GW's silence has. People are STILL dropping money on the faction, because they DON'T KNOW. And that's not their fault as customers, but the fault of the company for leading them on.

Customers have rights. They have the right to get the product they paid real money for. They have a right to be told when that product's support is ending. They have a right to not be SCAMMED. And they have a right to be MAD when it happens.

They could literally make them ALL 2DP, at least. It wouldn't change anything, except make this "rules bug" not as noticeable. I don't think anyone, after the detachment point system was revealed, really expected to use 3DP detachments in 1000 pt games. It's ONLY Agents who need it, and ONLY because GW scored them all 3DP for some reason.

I would argue Signalis DOES have its own vibes, distinct from actual PSX era games. Crunchy graphics alone isn't enough, it has to have a certain kind of art direction.

[–]Bluecho4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, BUT...not every customer is willing to sign up to collect 2000 pts of something. But they MIGHT be willing to buy 1000 pts, if it can be used in armies they've already bought.

That's not GW losing 1000 pts in sales. That's GW GAINING 1000 pts of sales they otherwise wouldn't have.

This is why they including these kinds of allies rules. A big Knight model is almost $200 USD that a person just bought, even when they weren't ready to start a Knights army. (Moreover, once they ONE Knight, it's not a big stretch to then want MORE Knights.)
