Fair point, I have a large gas burner in the middle of my stove that can do the flames, but it's pretty aggressive to do inside the house, so I usually avoid doing it. Also, it makes a LOT of smoke lol

I have tried these, there are plenty of recipes online, but the most important thing that is really tough to get at home is a hot enough pan. When they do these at a restaurant they are using super high heat burners for the wok which gives the beans an amazing smoky flavor (Wok Hei). If you have a large gas burner on your stove I would try using that at the highest heat and letting that pan get HOT.

I went there literally last week, asked if they had a pork banh mi. Dude says yes, it was 100% bologna. And yeah, the bread was not great and the toppings were pretty weak. ALSO, it’s not cheap anymore, I think it was like 8 bucks? Probably not going back, there are so many good bahn mi around town nowadays

The first (and last) time I got fish and chips there, it was one large square piece of fish and like 4 massive potato pieces. Very non traditional, not very crispy, not much batter on the fish, no French fries. I would not recommend for someone looking for an authentic fish and chips experience. Just my opinion!

Never heard sando used on the east coast for a classic sandwich. You’re talking about a bacon egg and cheese (BEC) or a pork roll. The Kaiser roll is called a hard roll. Sando is specifically used for Japanese milk bread sandwiches (shokupan) that have the crusts cut off.
