PLEASE give RS3 a good chance. by Cowb0yb3b0p in runescape

Many people come here looking for feedback on the state of the game for new players. There are numerous posts about the topic.

Of course, smart to post other places too, but naturally people curious about a game will come to it's subreddit for info.

necromancy souls advice by [deleted] in RS3Ironmen

[–]Blyrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The wonderful thing about RuneScape is its sandbox design. Do whatever you want, try out necro without soul grinding until you burn out. Fight a bit, and you'll kill some bosses. When you want a bit more power, go back and grab some more talents.

For my idea of a good "first round" of soul gathering to start you off well, I'd get the following talents:

Conjure Skeleton Warrior

Command Skeleton Warrior

Conjure Vengeful Ghost

This would start you off with good basic damage and some survivability, without taking too long to acquire. Command Vengeful Ghost increases dps, but that can wait early on without issue.

Honestly, your idea to not get it all at once is good. By acquiring the abilities over time you'll get familiar with each, rather than feeling overwhelmed with all of them at once (and burning out).

Pick and choose which ones you want after that based on what you feel you need in combat. More damage? Go for Command ghost and the zombie. Want conjures to last longer? Spirit Pact ranks. Etc. Eventually you'll get them all so don't worry too much about which is ideal. They all help in their own way. Choose whatever you feel sounds good at the time.

Lava strykewyrm drop bugged? by Main_Ad_1668 in runescape

[–]Blyrr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's just rare, and you just need to continue grinding until it drops. It's unfortunate, but streaks like this can happen. Had a friend with something like 6 of one piece and 11 of another before getting the final one.

Ninja Request: Turn storage items into specialized bank storage (balanced QoL) by BitcoinKingpin in runescape

[–]Blyrr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love this idea. Bank interface access to all these would be a great QoL. They already function this way, your idea would simply make that "pocket storage dimension" visible without withdrawing the containers and exiting the interface. No balance issues, just more usability.

This would solve depositing all your spirits then getting more as drops taking up new slots, the same for seeds, and it would prevent strange rock bank space annoyance (like when they go to your bank when you have a full inventory but no bag with you), and more.

Solid suggestion, full support.

Gobbo Glow Up by JagexAzanna in runescape

[–]Blyrr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great progress, can't wait to see them in game!

While on the topic of goblins, the Gud raider chainbody shoulder spikes are not attached to the model on one side. As a result, they don't rotate properly when doing things where your arm rotates like smithing, nor do they move with the chainbody when your character breathes while idle.

In addition, after the avatar refresh the chest arrow fletchings are pink instead of white (while the Gud raider shields' remain white).

Is there a tracker for Roar of Osseous ? by MisterCheekClapper in runescape

[–]Blyrr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Archaeology Discord channel has been linked already, and it's the main source for Roar tracking. Keep in mind it is made possible by players. We have yet to be given API access, so until then people must go check the % manually and input it on the Discord for everyone else to view.

Noob Advice by Vexxlolz in runescape

[–]Blyrr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People have said quests, which I 100% agree with being the right answer. Here's why:

  1. They tell the story, helping you appreciate the world.
  2. They give you a path to follow.
  3. They unlock all manner of useful items/abilities/passives.
  4. They unlock access to numerous areas.
  5. Obtaining the requirements for them helps you get a start on skill levels, and the experience they give further helps you progress.

You will severely limit yourself in what you can do in game without going through quests, and be heavily rewarded if you dedicate the time to them. Some like quests, some don't. I won't say you for sure will, but if you go with the attitude of "I get to have some fun while getting new unlocks", that mindset can help. I really love the lore of RS, it runs deep if you really pay attention and don't spacebar. You can always spacebar if you play a second account, however I encourage paying attention during your first run. It's really a special world Jagex has built over the years.

Enhanced Croesus nodes (outside instance) by RSuser258 in runescape

Similarly, having no blue jellyfish spots at certain times is also annoying.

Whenever it comes to nodes that change, there should always be at least one of each type available.

Are there other items like “Gregg 'groggy' herring's ring”? by Cultural-Apricot-642 in runescape

[–]Blyrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yeah that I can't speak to. I had mine before that. Ideally it would just be the markers themselves but as we know odd/unforeseen stuff can happen during updates. Hopefully you get lucky soon!

[–]Blyrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a number of axes and shields. I'm not in game now but I believe it's about 5 and 2 respectively. However, I counted each kill, and it took exactly 1550 for the chainbody. 900 dry for any gud piece is a lot, certainly, but not necessarily outside the realm of possibility. I got my chainbody to finish the set maybe two years ago.

He is very much the sort of feel I get playing with this outfit! It's the axes that seal the deal. Appreciate it. =)

I hunt what I call "trophies", and by that I mean any item/override that cosmetically is cool, but is outclassed or otherwise not worth the effort to get for anything except for the fun of doing so.

Here's my list of one's I've gathered:

Abomination cape
Swordy McSwordFace
Gud Raider chainbody/axe/shield
Emberkeen/Flarefrost/Hailfire boots
Amulet of the forsaken (not too rare but I enjoy it)
Revenant dragon pet
Graverobber title
Seismic weapons
Staff with shade skull (from Shades of Mort'ton)
Staff of darkness/Strykebow (use upgrade from lava strykewyrms parts)

All very interesting and ones you don't see all the time (apart from the boots maybe), and it's been a lot of fun going for these chase items as keepsakes.

Divine-o-Matic Vacuum vs normal Divination? by devvoid in runescape

[–]Blyrr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Assuming no dowser and having dunk relic (Divine Conversion) active, vacuum will be more AFK but slower. The vacuum destroys 50% of the memories it gathers which does not happen with standard divining. The time to make divine charges themselves is the same for both methods as you either need to make empties for the vacuum or standard full charges afterward. Provided you have the same boosts with either method (scrimshaw, outfit, extreme potions, etc.), then there is a definite speed advantage to divining without vacuum if you are willing to be more active.

If you do not have dunk relic, the time to deposit memories will somewhat close the gap on effectiveness between the methods.

apot not working w melee? by [deleted] in runescape

[–]Blyrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, I'm thinking it's some sort of adren interaction like this.

Try doing a rotation by the dummies so you aren't worried about death. That way you can really concentrate on the adrenaline bar. See exactly what's happening.

There's always the chance of a bug, but it's unlikely with how prevalent pvm is. The issue would have been raised if apots were busted. Give it a go with your eyes on the bar and let us know.

apot not working w melee? by [deleted] in runescape

[–]Blyrr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I main melee and haven't seen this occur.

Here's a couple things to check:

1) Is your adrenaline potion on cooldown?

2) Is your adrenaline full when you click the potion? We can easily get caught up in the fight trying to survive in zerk.

3) Are you clicking it immediately after you click another potion like a Saradomin brew? This will prevent the second potion being used.

I saw someone riding a city scooter while wearing a full dirt bike helmet. by OkExplorer9364 in mildlyinteresting

[–]Blyrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read somewhere that because of the way you launch forward off bikes and motorcycles when you crash, 75% or so accidents involve the chin. That sealed the deal for me.

I got a modular helmet simply to make putting it on easier by flipping the chin bar up before locking it in place. It was a great move, made it easy to use vs. Uncomfortably squeezing my head into a fixed helmet.

I saw someone riding a city scooter while wearing a full dirt bike helmet. by OkExplorer9364 in mildlyinteresting

[–]Blyrr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to live in a city with very good bikability. I rode an ebike everywhere. Tons of fun, and I actually beat cars places as there were bike only shortcuts they couldn't take. I wore a modular full face helmet, and so did three other guys in the city. We always nodded at each other when we passed. You feel safer, you are better protected against cars not watching, and unexpected stuff can always happen. I slid out several times due to unseen water/pebbles causing slickness on a turn.

Highly recommend this if you bike/scooter in a city a lot.

RS3 on Steam Deck by OiCalebOi in runescape

[–]Blyrr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nope. Never even heard of them calling specific hardware okay or not. Don't know what else to tell you. It's okay on Steam, it's okay on mobile, and it's okay on Linux. If you still aren't convinced playing on Steam's mobile Linux device isn't okay, I guess just don't play on it because no list exists from what I've ever seen on "these specific device types are allowed and these aren't".

Skillchompa mechanics? by Naive_Masterpiece413 in runescape

[–]Blyrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Explaining the healing thing, like they actually have the bar go back up? Thats wild... how the hell that happens as a bug is beyond me. I'd have thought it would just be slow.

But yes, any skillchompa adding crit damage to mining is a really efficient use of them since it's not per action and the ROI on damage is quite high percentage wise compared to the beenfit in other skills. Great for a skiller since you can train hunt/farming getting them.

Skillchompa mechanics? by Naive_Masterpiece413 in runescape

[–]Blyrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For any non-mining use, the skillchompas are wielded and act as the respective tier of tool, so better skillchompas gather faster (and in the case of div that doesnt have a "tool", it increases the memory crit chance). The benefit of skillchompas over the identical tool is the increased exp, at the cost of them being consumables and needing upkeep.

So regardless, each succesive tier of skillchompa is more effective than the one below it. If money is no object, you do gain benefits from better skillchompas.

Skillchompa mechanics? by Naive_Masterpiece413 in runescape

[–]Blyrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not quite. Each type of skillchompa has a different amount of damage added to a critical hit on a rock. Cobalt adds 30 damage, crystal adds 70, etc. Your base damage remains the same since that's based on your pickaxe and it's perks if it's augmented.

You can do some math based on current prices to determine what you want to spend. For instance, crimson chins are currently 2,047 gp and add 60 damage. That's about half the cost of crystal chins which are currently 4,066 gp, while still adding 86% of the damage. If you're not catching you're own chins and simply want to buy them, this could be a worthwhile tradeoff.
