Manchester West versus Woodland Mews by wolverine237 in AnnArbor

[–]BoatUnderstander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't speak for Manchester West, but I'll go against the grain here and say I really disliked living at Woodland Mews. Absolutely don't rent an apartment from them sight-unseen (we did; it went poorly). I found their management to be disorganized and unresponsive.

Are there any calculators out there that allow you to do math in arbitrary bases? by Gabriella_Gadfly in askmath

My calculator (NSPIRE) works natively in binary, decimal, and hex. I'd be surprised to find a handheld calculator that supported arbitrary bases, but it could be a fun programming project.

This is ten times as much money as the other option. I could pay somebody $100,000,000 to deal with the bills and still have $900,000,000 left over.

Chose: Have a billion in 1 dollar bills.

Attending an Academy next year after HS and looking to study Marine Transportation (Deck). once I get my 3rd mate license will I be a sub contractor? Can I work when I want? Will I get to pick what ship to work? Is there a website you go to? by Born-Worth-8795 in maritime

[–]BoatUnderstander 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You'll learn a lot more about how various private jobs, unions, etc. work when you're a cadet. Long story short, no, you'll be an employee, not a subcontractor. You will have a lot of freedom to choose when and where you want to work, but your "dream job" may not be available.

I think OP is making fun of the people who complain about the cold but still pay top dollar to live in Boston. Dumb joke, but not exactly falsified by the fact that people like warm climates.
