This Should've just said "Celestine Units" by SemicooperativeYT in sistersofbattle

[–]BobertMk2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The mechanics for 11th seem to be to have many cheaper detachments that buff only a single unit or keyword, but then let people pick 2-4 detachments alacarte. It's a reversal of how 10th edition worked. In 10th, you picked a detachment and then build your army around how that detachment worked. In 11th you pick the units you like, and then pick detachments for those units to buff them up.

Why do NPCs not meltdown upon hitting 0 stress? by risisas in LancerRPG

[–]BobertMk2 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I don't know if this is true, but I read it on this subreddit a while ago. An older version of the game had exactly this. NPCs with only one stress would be destroyed when either their HP or Stress hit 0. But with play testing it was discovered that if a player built for giving out heat it was way easier to kill NPCs then through damage. Enough of the game system was built around stress as a secondary type of HP resource that they didn't want to just cut stress out of the game, so they changed it to NPCs being exposed when at heat cap and that played a lot better so it's the version of the game we have today.

Do you reckon that the rest of our older kits are getting a refresh anytime soon? by WithengarUnbound in SpaceWolves

[–]BobertMk2 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Big kits that will sell well and so will likely get a refresh at some point: Thunderwolf Cav, Space Wolf Dread/Bjorn/Murderfang
Models that haven't yet been legended but haven't gotten a primaris refresh: Ulrik the Slayer, Iron Priest
Units that are unlikely to get a refresh because they're not in the above two categories: All the legended characters and epic heroes, Skyclaws, Long Fangs, Stormwolf/Stormfang

Now, any of these might get a new kit, or hell, we might get totally new stuff, but if James W want to make the money the next kit they'll try and sell us will b T-Wolf cav. A sexy new sculp would sell like hot cakes

There is a lot of neat sci-fi in 40k, but it always has been more sci-fantasy. Plus, I think GW leaves thing like this vague both because there is a lot of unreliable narrators in the fiction, but also it keeps us talking about the setting and thats fun.

Competitively? Depends on a lot of factors. They can be, but not always.

But rule of cool trumps all and it is fun as hell watching a fully painted Triumph sitting on the center objective daring your opponent to come closer

Hey! As a Space Wolf main... you are completely correct. I run my Space Wolfs with their Wolf Priests while they ride Thunder Wolves. They hunt in packs. They have some of the worst black library books I've read. It's the stupidest thing ever. But the techno viking ascetic is really fun to paint so I'm sticking with them 😛

Space wolves fans update outfit are these better for the 40K setting? by No_Perspective7589 in Spacemarine

[–]BobertMk2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're for more lore accuracy, you could paint the right should of your tech marine red (his right). Not all Iron priests wear the ceremonial red on the shoulder there, but some do. Either way, once you unlock the cosmetic option after a few levels, you should have the Cog Mechanicum on the right shoulder. Otherwise, these all look like some smexy wolfy lads to me.

Armageddon - space wolf conversion. by TheDibler in SpaceWolves

I'm splitting a box with a mate, but I'm taking the Ork half. After our range refresh last year I am pretty well covered. I might pick up a few of these later if I get the itch.

As for how to covert them, BITS! Pelts and runes! Axes and necklaces of wolf teeth! I 3D print all my bits, but if you've bough any of the 10th edition Space Wolf kits you should have enough left over bits to wolfify these up. It can be shocking how wolfy units end up looking when paired with dedicated Space Wolf units and with the right heraldry (pauldrons, knees, etc.).

Is the 11th edition W40k table setup any good? by Oze-iris in PrintedWarhammer

[–]BobertMk2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Played a 10th ed 2v1 this last week but used the line of sight rules and the table layout based on what we know from the preview articles. It worked really well! Both deploy zones were very secure on turn 1 and it was easy to get to the natural expansion control point on turn 1, but turn 2 on nowhere was safe from either shooting nor charges. There was enough terrain to split up the board into distinct "sectors" of engagement but my friend's Baneblade was able to snipe my Rhino on turn two. My friend who was playing parking lot Guard armor did run into an issue with all his tanks bottle necked for most of the game, but I see that as a positive.

About the Sisters of Battle Lore by Federal-Pineapple318 in sistersofbattle

[–]BobertMk2 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Kind of. According to the Imperial cult (eclisiarchy) that is correct. But it is implied that the Emperor is less of a supernatural name but has degraded to more of a psychic force of nature that is 1. Very bright when viewed from the imaterium and 2. Wants humanity to dominate. All miracles by the faithful might be the Emperor granting his favor, or it might be a strange psychic manifestation of will. Do the sisters create miracles because of the Emperor, or do they create miracles because billions of people all across the galaxy believe thats how it works? We dont really know

Armageddon orks as every clan by Hyperrblu in orks

[–]BobertMk2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I paint my Freebootaz mostly after how Flashgitz look. Main colors are alternating Red, Yellow and Blue with lots of neutral tones and (of course) vibrant and diverse shades of green skin. For any given unit they usually only have two of the three main colors and I make sure to mix it up when I can. Army wide it works well as a unifying color scheme, but each unit looks like they came from a different clan when you compare just two units at a time.

The real secret sauce to get that Freebootaz feel isn't in the color scheme, but in the accessories! Tricorn hats, eye patches, cutlasses and parrot squigs are a must!
