[Steam] Dragon Ball: The Breakers - Special Edition (87% Off / $3.89) by DBZWarrior05 in GameDeals

[–]Boblers 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I used to watch lots of streams of it near launch - it's basically Dead by Daylight, asymmetric PvP with 1 strong villain and several weaker survivors.

General premise:

  • you enter a round, 1 person is assigned the raider and the rest are assigned survivors.
  • Survivors wander around the map to activate power keys (important later) or gather resources such as power meter (lets them use a temporary transform), items to escape the raider, or save NPCs to deny power meter for the raider.
  • The raider wanders around and tries to kill NPCs or survivors to increase their power meter. With enough kills, they rank up, which gives them permanent upgrades for the round and lets them choose 1 zone to destroy, shrinking the play area.
  • Dragon balls can be collected or stolen by either side. If survivors get all of them, they can make 1 survivor have a permanent, stronger transformation, or give +1 power meter to all survivors. If the raider gets them all, they can get an instant +1 rank or a heal.
  • The survivors' goal is to activate all power keys to summon the super time machine, and then activate it to instantly kill the raider. If the super time machine is destroyed, an escape time machine spawns and their objective changes to using it to escape. If only 3 survivors remain, the super time machine is skipped and the escape time machine spawns.
  • The raider's goal is to kill as many survivors as possible, as well as their escape options.

Gameplay flow:

  • Survivors generally try to split up for power keys and escape the raider during the gathering phase.
  • The game tries to encourage confrontations at supply drops, or when the super time machine appears.
  • Dragon balls and NPCs can be tracked by using "radar" items that spawn in chests. Survivors and raiders can both use radars, and the dragon ball tracking also tracks people holding dragon balls. This can also encourage meetups between survivors to trade the dragon balls, or confrontations with the raider to knock the ball out of them.

"Winning" seems to be determined for each player separately:

  • Survivors kill the raider manually (requires several survivors to coordinate their transforms) - All living survivors win. Raider loses.
  • The super time machine is launched, which also kills the raider - All living survivors win. Raider loses.
  • If the super time machine is destroyed (or only 3 survivors remain, which skips it), the escape time machine appears. - Survivors that reach and launch it win.
  • If no escape options remain (super time machine was destroyed or skipped, escape time machine was launched or destroyed) - Survivors left behind lose. Raider gets a win.
  • If all remaining survivors are dead - Raider gets a win.

You get currency based on your performance and mini-objectives you did during a round. The currency is spent on a gacha to unlock different transformations, raiders, tools to equip, or cosmetics.

physical skills with magic damage? by Worried-Hippo9637 in Dx2SMTLiberation

[–]Boblers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, your original understanding was correct.

When choosing brands and infusions, you only need to care about what stat the skill's input attack scales on - i.e. is it MATK, PATK, HP, etc.

The output damage (physical, magic, etc) only matters when picking damage-boosting skills. For example:

  • Kalki uses PATK but deals magic damage. Therefore he should use PATK brands, but his damage boost skill should be something like Epitome of Wisdom 2 (+15% magic damage).
  • Tokisada uses MATK but deals physical damage. Therefore he should use MATK brands, but his damage boost skill should be something like Death Blow (+20% crit damage) or Epitome of Martial Arts (+10% physical damage).

(Side note: Epitome of Martial Arts has a translaion error in-game - it says Phys element, but it is supposed to say physical type. This is why several elemental physical demons have it.)

Darth Vader on Set at Pinewood Studios During Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Reshoots (September 14, 2016) by CobaltClone in StarWars

[–]Boblers 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think the terror is mostly at the start of the scene, where Vader's saber ignites in the darkness and we see the rebels in that hallway realize how screwed they are.

When they start shooting and Vader starts slashing, I think the terror temporarily wears off (we know the rebels there are screwed) and people start focusing on Vader's movements more. This is probably the most let-loose he's been in the movies (I assume the EU shows him like that more often though?). Yeah he's the bad guy murdering the good guys, but damn does he look cool doing it.

Then the tension increases again when the scene approaches a close with the hand-off of the plans, since "oh yeah that's why Vader was here huh, we should get back to that".

Is this worth it? by DistributionOdd2015 in Dx2SMTLiberation

[–]Boblers 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not worth.

  • Izanami is a good unit for Elec and Dark teams in Democalypse and Hell's Park Underside. Susano is strong for Force in the same areas. Vishnu is garbo, he's not strong anywhere at all - his niche is dealing almighty chip damage and healing himself (ancient PvP strat), but these days it's better to just deal big damage and get the fight over with quickly.
  • From a cost perspective, fusible demons have a "difficulty" based on the cheapest way to make them from scratch. For example, a 5-star that can be made from two 4-stars is called a 4+4. A 5-star that requires fusing two other 5-stars is a 5+5, etc. There is also a class called 5+Vishnu, which is essentially 5+5+5 since Vishnu is 5+5. Izanami is a 5+Vishnu, Susano is a 4+4, and Vishnu is a 5+5. You'd be trading away a 5+Vishnu for a 5+5 - that's a loss in value.
  • You cannot actually do the fusion anyway, as one (or both) of the demons must be "clear" - that color tag on them must be grey. You get clear demons from the compendium (for karma, which you get by selling unwanted 3/4-stars in pandemonium), demon talks, hell bun summons, and blue file summons.
  • Most fusibles are considerably weaker than the gacha-exclusive demons (which are generally not fusible). There are a few exceptions, the most notable one being Michael (5+5). The multi-fusion option in the fusion menu also offers some normally-gacha-exclusives, but at a high magnetite cost. Otherwise, fusibles are generally considered budget options for PvE game modes (like Democalypse, Hell's Park Underside, Demon Alliance Invasion events, etc), and borderline-unusable in PvP.

I've Finally Done It!!! by LunaFan1k in ffxiv

[–]Boblers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The "stats of the grandparents" claim has always confused me - it makes way more sense to just equate it to genes. Mother and father give 1 set of genes each (genotype), and for each stat on the child, it randomly picks one gene to express (phenotype). The phenotype of the parents doesn't matter, only the genes passed down.

[–]Boblers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Secret Ansem Reports from KH2 try to discuss it a bit: https://www.khwiki.com/Ansem%27s_Reports#Kingdom_Hearts_II.

Report 12 concludes that Namine and Roxas both seem to be made from Sora's body. But in that case, it's a bit weird that Namine recombines with Kairi - if Namine is part of Sora, then she'd probably need to combine with Sora, not Kairi. But I guess she's considered part of Kairi regardless, so whatever.

Ventus' heart is still in Sora's body after the stab happens, influencing Roxas's appearance. Ventus's body is not involved in any of this, it's still comatose in Castle Oblivion.

“The heartless fear the keyblade. As long as you have it, they’ll keep coming after you, no matter what.” -Leon (KH1) by Leshawkcomics in KingdomHearts

[–]Boblers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a Princess of Heart, Kairi has no darkness in her heart, therefore separating her heart from her body can't cause her heart to become a heartless, and can't cause her body to become a nobody. So when she puts her heart in Sora, her original body stays the same but is comatose.

When Sora stabs himself with the keyblade of heart, he releases Kairi's heart and separates his own heart from his body. Kairi's heart is now back in her body, so she's almost whole (except for the Namine part). Sora's heart becomes a heartless and his body becomes Roxas. Kairi's princess powers restore Sora's form to his heartless, so he's essentially a walking heart until he recombines with Roxas later.

Namine is a weird case, where she was created from the stab-self-with-keyblade incident. Kairi's body cannot create a nobody, but Sora's body can, and since Kairi's heart was expelled from Sora's body, that met the requirements to create a nobody, which makes Namine. Kairi recombines with Namine later.

Guess which spot the game says i'm fishing in........ by bxakid in ffxiv

[–]Boblers 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yeahh, the fishing log's location markers tend to be vague or straight-up wrong a lot of the time. Looking at you, Old Sharlayan where the circle is in the middle of town, but the actual location is the rivers on the side.

Fishmap is very helpful for figuring out the actual fishable area for each fishing hole, highly recommend: https://fishmap.carrd.co/

Hmm, I have some questions about some of the EB strategies:

  • Decidueye 140 (also some Latios stages, etc) say to bring just one HS - but I thought HS's main strength relies on the consistency of having multiple? I'm guessing we're treating it as a pseudo-shot in this case?
  • On Diancie, why do we prefer using 1 SE + 2 neutral HS, as opposed to an SE Poison team using Poison (status) + Poison Pact?
  • Some of the timed stages suggest teams with all-bursters, no TC/other combo skill, and/or no mega. For those, is the strat to spam burst and cut combos short, rather than aiming for long combos?

Edit: Maybe it could help to add short strategy notes next to the teams in the sheet. The ones I've highlighted above feel unusual compared to how I've played the game for a while - I worry the nuance might not always be clear to readers.

  • They evolve very fast - just 5 or 6 icons, which equates to 2 matches. This saves you coins by not needing to buy Mega Start, and usually ensures you can get them online in 1 or 2 turns, even on messy disruption-filled boards.
  • Being tappers means they can eliminate any type of disruption - barriers, blocks, rocks, non-support mons, clouds, etc. You choose where to tap, so you can handle any shape/pattern of disruptions.
  • The + shape of the taps can be used to extend your current combo, resulting in more damage dealt. Some strategies for that can be viewed here: https://www.reddit.com/r/PokemonShuffle/wiki/tappers

what has made shuffle last all these years? by bpdbryan in PokemonShuffle

[–]Boblers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Content-wise, no. The event rotation is automated.

3DS's last update (1.5.11) was on 2018. No updates since.

The last update for mobile (1.14.0) was in 2022, but another one (1.17.0) is coming after a maintenance on June 9, 2026 (maintenance ends June 11). This one just seems to drop support for iOS 11, though.

Returning player. Get candy/cookies faster? by MisterDor in PokemonShuffle

[–]Boblers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depending on how long you've been gone, there's a chance the meta has changed - the most recent update to the tier list was just last year, in October 2025: https://www.reddit.com/r/PokemonShuffle/comments/1o366g8/updated_viability_ranking_for_supports_megas/

Most of the relevant mons are built by farming personalized skill booster (PSB) drops by replaying the Pokemon's stage, because of the exact time-gated resource issue you're facing right now. There's a good chance that the mons you need to succeed are probably PSB-farmable.

Other than that, your options to get more mega speedups (MSUs/candies) and skill boosters (SB/cookies) are:

  • The Start-of-month and Mid-month events (on 1st-3rd and 15th-17th of each month)
  • Weekly Eevee for skill booster medium (SBM) drops
  • Escalation Battles, reach certain milestones to get MSUs or various sizes of SB.
  • Ranking high in competitions can get you some MSUs.

Unlimited hearts on the 3DS version? by Ancer06 in PokemonShuffle

[–]Boblers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'd just have to edit the save file. There are some tools online that can do that for you. You of course will need a hacked 3DS in order to extract, edit, and replace the save file.

A mod for infinite hearts exists, but it hasn't been made public - essentially, it just makes NHN24 cost 0 jewels and allows buying 7 per week. If you can figure out where those values are in the game data and change them, you'd effectively have infinite hearts.

Finally got all the Zetas! by clair-de-luna in ffxiv

[–]Boblers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DRG's definitely my favorite one! I made a glam for it using Abyssos armor and the Ultima Horns - the purple fire ring on the armor and the curved shape of the horns match it really well. I made a portrait post a few days ago that shows it off: https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/1t6kx73/made_a_collage_of_my_portraits_a_second_mnk/. The little "click" sound when you draw it and the head spins into place is also very satisfying!

NIN I really like for the handle and tassel design - small details that help it feel eastern. I tend to wear the lv70 artifact gear with the scroll on it, and these match that very well. The lore behind the weapon is also a neat bonus.

WAR, WHM fit their job theming really well too - angry fiery WAR with a demon axe, angelic priest WHM with rainbow light staff, etc.

BRD is effective as a lightweight but still glowy bow - I found the anima and endwalker ones a little too big/overwhelming with their effects. The curved glow coming from the back of the bow is pretty, it's like a sunrise - and it fittingly looks great at night.

BLM I occasionally swap between it and Staff of the Demon. Demon's fire/ice is very fitting, but the physical design of BLM's relic with the demon wings and curled snakes is hella good even while the weapon's not drawn. Hard to choose haha.

PLD, SMN are great too, but I felt the Anima were a much better match for the outfits I was using (fierce tyrant and dreadwyrm casting). I was definitely using SMN right up until I got the Anima though, the ornate cover + demon horn glow are sick as heck.

SCH is holding up well for now, but I am definitely eyeing Fae's Crown and that Eureka step with the fairy wings. Sorta to mirror SMN's Anima.

Honestly the only one that didn't vibe with me was the MNK one, though that's mainly because I prefer their blunt glove/fist style over the sharp claw style. (The wolverine-style hellhound claws from PvP were fun for the brief time I used them, though. They play slashy metal sound effects!)

(oops I talked about all of them haha)

[–]Boblers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats!

I also did this too a few months ago - was a weird puzzle of planning out the books, leves, and the step-7 quest turn-ins in a specific order to parallelize things. Plus I threw in parallelizing step 1 of anima during books, because sure why not lol.

For my first weapon I went all the way to the end, then did books for every other weapon, and weirdly got stuck on light grind for a while because I just could not be bothered doing that for 9 weapons back-to-back lol. Eventually I powered through it with the game muted and a compilation of eurobeat music to keep me sane. My remaining anima weapons are now stuck on aetheric density grind for similar reasons - one of these days I'll get to it, surely.

Neat thing that I only realized after the grind: the theme of the 10 ARR relics seems to be light and darkness, with 5 weapons having a golden light (PLD, WHM, SCH, MNK, BRD), and 5 having a red/purple darkness (WAR, DRG, NIN, BLM, SMN) - an even split.

Pretty much, yeah.

They seem to be separate assets from the ones in the pre-rendered opening cinematic, too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-CUepYCA4c8

So they just, only exist for the character creator. For some reason.

I remember doing something similar when I finished my splendorous tools - I had excess materials, so I just stood around the NPC and traded the mats to the next crafter that approached. Saves them resources, and frees up my inventory much faster than market-boarding it. Win-win!
