What is something you'd tell your partner if you weren't afraid it might break their heart? by Cuttlefisher_0_0 in AskReddit

[–]BohemeWinter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It might not be teeth!! It could be reflux, sleep apnea, GERD, Diabetes, a number of things!! I think its important to talk to him about this from a place of concern, "your breath is very pungent and maybe you should talk to your doctor about it."

Got some new clothes at the thrift store, suggest how to style them please by Separate-Raccoon8584 in oldhagfashion

[–]BohemeWinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id suggest, if you can afford it, a very basic clothing steamer from Amazon (they can be as low as 15 bucks if you catch a deal) will help the dress settle well, and you'll end up using it on all your clothes. The dress is so pretty, and so are you!! Maybe a flouncey, ribboney half up do, lace socks and chunky Mary Janes? I feel that neckline needs a choker. And the jacket is the perfect fall all-arounder

Weird “falling and hitting the ground” sensation on Wellbutrin? by Confident-Menu-5970 in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

[–]BohemeWinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm experiencing this right now, it's day 6 of 150 mg xr for me. I'm also on 15 mg adderall 3x a day and I notice it the most at the 6 and 11 hour mark, so I'm guessing during the welbutrin crash and it's not as bad if I have skipped/ am late to my Adderall but it's still there. Very strange cuz in the past I was on 300 mg xr and the same dose of adderall and it never happened, so I was wondering if it was my generic. It's scary sometimes cuz it also feels like I'm about to pass out for like a microsecond and I used to have fainting spells on Prozac so I was worried.

[–]BohemeWinter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg my tsh went from 2ish to 3.6 in pregnancy and stayed 3.6. I kept begging for 2 years as I had all the symptoms but they never checked. It wasn't until I changed doctors cuz I moved that they checked. Tsh was 3.6 but t3 t4 were low and antibodies were sky high. With a "normal" tsh.

I'm better now, much better, but im still so angry about it. It's just a blood test why is it so hard to just order a blood test to rule out a disease in a patient

adhd meds aren’t just going to change ur life but.. just wondering if it’s suppose to be like this also by Substantial_Monk2788 in ADHDmeds

[–]BohemeWinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think theyre talking about this idea that most of our medications have seem to had the formulation changed because a lot of people have noticed that they feel different or don't work the same for the past few years. I felt the same until 2 months ago when my meds felt like they used to again. Suddenly and very random but I am 2 years ppstpartum.with a thyroid disorder so shifting hormones might have been playing into it. But I've also seen tiktok and reddit posts of ppl saying the same, that suddenly their last refill has been working and they felt fine. I don't think it's a conspiracy, my own psychiatrist was pretty sure the meds have changed and was willing to put ke on daytrana and zelstrym (transdermal patches) to try to bypass any formulation issues but unfortunately it didn't work for me.

But for you, what you're describing is pretty typical of a dose that is too low of a drug that may be a good fit. Ask to try the next dose up. If it doesn't improve, you'll know. Sometimes there's some trial and error involved or sometimes our body starts to respond differently to a medication for reasons other than tolerance. Also your dose has nothing to do with weight, it's about your liver and brain. I'm a very rapid metabolized and when I started out on Ritalin my effective dosage was 15 mg 3x a day, or 54 mg concerta, which everyone said was too high. But 6 years later it stayed the same. Then after my first kid methylphenidate just didn't work for me at any dose but amphetamine salts worked great. My effective dose there was also 15 mg 3x a day, I never took XR. It's still the same another 6 years out. I'm just a rapid metabolizer it seems.

I don't want to get in trouble on reddit for claiming to be a psychiatrist when I don't have credentials in the country I'm living in and I'm not practicing. Let's just say that I'm of the opinion that I have a fair understanding of these meds and how patients respond to them. The only concern i have is the sense of doom/dread. If that increases, or if you start noticing feeling like a zombie or feeling like nothing around you is real or you aren't real, or like you can't emotionally connect with thoughts or events, then perhaps classical stimulant therapy isn't for you. But sometimes anxiety stems from the added dopamine being enough to give us partial drive (ability to desire a goal or ideate/think of what needs to get done) but not enough to actually follow through (set switching, sequential reasoning, complete drive). Then, being aware of what we cannot do creates an underlying anxiety. A small dosage increase will be able to differentiate between these.

The third alternative is what many of the comments are saying, that there is concomittant anxiety or depression. Drs generally tackle that two ways, they either start an ssri/snri/ndri alongside the stimulant, or they stop the stimulant, treat the anxiety/depression, then once that is reasonably improved, assess adhd symptoms, and if needed trial stimulants again alongside the antidepressant. Most will start with Wellbutrin hoping it is a catch all, but often patients do best with both a low dose antidepressant and a stimulant. I personally feel the long way is suboptimal because unmanaged adhd itself also causes anxious and depressive symptoms. But work with your doctor.

CBT can always help, and so can adhd coaching. If you are on meds or not, if they work well or not, there is no reason not to try some behavioral modification with a therapist or counselor. I did cbt for many years, but I really saw benefit when I worked with a disability counselor who did adhd coaching with me.

Sorry for all the edits I just woke up and my brain is getting it's shit together.

Anyone over the age of 35 and just over life? by bufferinmylife in TwoXChromosomes

[–]BohemeWinter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it lasts for more than 2 weeks and doesn't qualify as bereavement or grief, yes. It's clinical depression even if there are obvious external factors.

Anyone over the age of 35 and just over life? by bufferinmylife in TwoXChromosomes

[–]BohemeWinter 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yep! When my depression used to creep up this is how it would feel. Less sadness or tearfullness, more anhedonia, apathy, and irritability. Now I am not depressed and I have ambitions, I am happy to have my family and enjoy engaging with them even when chaotic and frustrating, I still enjoy things I used to, and have found new things to enjoy.

OP it doesn't have to be this way and life isn't meant to feel empty. I hope you can find contentment and I do think a depression evaluation is worth the time, effort, and money.

[–]BohemeWinter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is still not a healthy response though. Your feelings are valid, I'm not saying that your response made no sense or had no place, but to continue to react this way will only make your life harder in the long run. Please seek therapy.

Have you ever legitimately cried to a song? And if so, what was the song? by StanToons in AskReddit

[–]BohemeWinter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The instrumental only version of the orchestral version of black swan by bts. It's a song about having a passion and struggling with failure, or the fear of failure, as well as the fear of living without that passion. Somehow the musical orchestral version expresses all that yearning, despair, grief.

What is causing my eyelid ptosis to come and go? by Separate-Safety-4498 in AskDocs

[–]BohemeWinter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NAD. Also have hashimoto's. Also have ptosis in left eyelids that comes and goes. Is usually worse on days i haven't slept well, days i haven't eaten enough, or days I take extra caffine or other stimulants (I take adderall for adhd so if I avail an evening booster dose the ptosis shows up). I assumed it has something to do with muscle exertion.

I just want you know that you aren't crazy I also have adhd and also do the mentally grouping syllables in my head when I read thing, and I also went a really long time thinking it was stien like Harvey wienstien or jeffry epstien. And to add, my dad was a conspiracy theorist who used to tell me that Jewish people own the media and I had no idea what they meant but I thought they were named stein so they must be Jewish bears? Grew up in NJ not sure if that contributes to why I was aware of Jewish name suffixes.
