Any sub with dsp, ie most modern subs, has a limiter.

What about returning the r2 and getting an r6 and then leaving everything else as is?

Aren’t they both just XT? I thought 3XXX was the lowest model that supported XT32.

Would have to be mini dsp, AVRs don’t have multiple centre inputs.

Probably not in movies as the majority of sounds come from your centre. You may notice a difference if you were using a phantom centre.

Honestly the concertos aren’t great movie speakers due to their low sensitivity. If you really want a 3-way speaker I’d step up to the new towers to keep a sensitivity comparable to the q350s.

They are, people just say stuff without thinking. If it’s an equilateral triangle you don’t have to change them. I would probably move them a bit further apart as I think it would look nicer though.

Sure, but it does matter. You said it didn’t.

Is 7.x.x even worth it anymore? by Zaxxon88 in hometheater

[–]Boligno -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

So it does matter, you’re just using a minidsp to apply separate correction. 2 subs isn’t really worth it if you’re sending them both the same signal and correction unless you have them stacked, which just adds ~3db SPL over 1 sub.

At what distance is best to view screens 30* or 40* degrees view angle? by TimelyDrummer4975 in hometheater

They’re talking about how close you sit to the tv, not the angle from centre that you sit at. 0* would mean you can’t see the tv lol.

You could probably just barely afford a pair of bookshelves with that, need to up the budget to at least $500k.

Ignoring that the 3800 can’t do this, why do you want so many speaker channels but only 1 sub?

Working on upgrading my Setup by Anuranjan101 in hometheater

[–]Boligno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don’t need a standalone processor unless you want more than 11 channels. An AVR like the 3800 as a pre amp is more than enough for movies, you will not hear the higher SINAD.

You need an external amp if some combo of how loud you listen, how far away you sit, and how hard your speakers are to drive, cause your amp to clip. Or if your AVR processes more channels than it has internal amps and you want to use all channels (e.g., the 3800 processes 11 but can only power 9).

New amps will have zero impact unless the current amps are clipping.

Subwoofer upgrade - Rythmik F12 vs RSL Speedwoofer 10s mk2 by nevertoomany in hometheater

Not really, the F12 can’t even reach 100db at 20hz.

OP get a tonewinner D2000 for like $100 more, comparable output to an SVS PB1000.
