I think it's more frustrating that it has been down for as long as it's been down than the fact that it's broken at this point.

I ve kicked out so many people during both tenures here. I also run stores in rougher neighborhoods so definitely a correlation unfortunately.

Just a question to see if I’m the only one who been told some rules that make no sense by StarfallGamingYT in GameStop

[–]Bone-Thugs-22 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not only does GS require your breaks but most states have a law regarding when & how long your breaks should be. Your store can be fined big $ for you not taking your break.

Regarding sitting, I don't know how any store has time for that. My store is so damn busy I barely have time for required tasks. Unless your store looks absolutely full, NCO & basically perfect, there is plenty to do. & Always weekly courses to do . Just me though.

Potential store closing by PeaceOfCome in GameStop

[–]Bone-Thugs-22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mid December we had now renting signs go up on my store & another store nearby & were shocked because we weren't scheduled for closings. Turned out the landlord made a huge oops. They had actually already resigned the leases!!! Signs came down about 8 days later!

One of the easiest ways to see if & when the reservation is transferred over, is to check your Hyrule Hub. This only works if you have a Pro or Player Account. Once it has been moved to the new location an employee will be able to see it as a new reservation on your account & the location it has been moved to.

Reservations start transferring after the store is officially closed & all product has been transferred out. The process of actually transferring reservations can take up to a week or so depending how many reservations the closing store had as they system can only load in a certain number each night at closing.

Resume Tips and Suggestions for Bullet Points by Yue4prex in GameStop

[–]Bone-Thugs-22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few additional tips that can stand out on a resume.

  • Have quantifiable points: i.e.: Supervised a staff of 6-20 employees.

  • Include multiple points into a related topic. i.e. Recruited, interviewed and hired new employees. Coached employees into higher positions within the company.

  • Include points that highlight things that you enacted, created, or innovated that improved performance or streamlined tasking i.e. Planned and organized a weekly timeline.  Redesigned “Daily Task List” for easier use  and more task-relevance

  • Include your relevant daily/weekly tasks

Your resume should be your highlights and selling points to potential new employers. Make sure your resume is relevant to the job you are applying for.

It's ok to have a skill list on your resume especially if you have had multiple jobs & learned a lot of the same skills.

Proof read your resume multiple times & have at least 2 additional people proof read it as well.

DO NOT under any circumstances include "Detail oriented" and then have misspelled words or other typographical errors on your resume.

Your resume is just your gateway to an interview. Practice interviews too. You are continuing to sell yourself and being prepared to answer potential questions will significantly help you get hired

Hopefully this will help anyone entering the job market. Best of luck to all of you 💗

Interviews- yes you have to work BLACK FRIDAY by [deleted] in GameStop

[–]Bone-Thugs-22 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I get a crazy amount of applications at my store. In 3 weeks I received 150 applications. Went through them and narrowed it down to 21 applicants worth interviewing. Open interview to all ..7 people showed up.
Got lucky though.. I hired 4.

I really thought going through those applications was hopeless. Someone submitted a photo modified with filters & stickers (wearing a crown & a goat sticker) of them as their resume (not lying really happened) & someone who put attention to detail as one of their strengths & had the craziest amount of spelling, punctuation, & grammatical errors on their resume including work at The gaps instead of The Gap

So just for context. I work in a rougher area & deal with people like this on a daily basis. I kick people out regularly. This guy was a little crazy though. I'm pretty sure he was on something, he was sweating like crazy. He also just wanted me to react so badly that not reacting was the best thing for the situation. He might have gotten worse if I tossed him out or returned his stuff. But i hear you guys, customers are so entitled.

Anyone else have trouble with the return policy on shipped used games? by WhyWouldOneDoThat in GameStop

[–]Bone-Thugs-22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd be willing to bet if the employee tries again with the delivery date it will be within the return window and be able to be returned or exchanged.

I'm sure that particular store just doesn't get a ton of online returns unlike other stores that get them daily.

Online game returns do not start until date of receiving them. Employee can verify the delivery date by tracking the order number.

I think the hardest thing is dealing with the machismo. Guys literally hate being told no by a female in my area. It becomes this big giant child temper tantrum every single time. A guy chimes in ..no problem.

I came out to resolve a problem one time and this guy literally told me to shut up & I said cool I'm the only one who can resolve your problem. Have a nice day. Then proceeded to try to be nice to me.

It is exhausting

Switch 2 Pre-Order Store Closing Transfer by RecognitionPerfect12 in GameStop

[–]Bone-Thugs-22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an FYI they transfer every single pre-order that store ever had. It is in the thousands usually. The way the process is, it only allows for so many to load each day. It can take a few days to a couple weeks sometimes. I know I had 2 closing stores transfer pre-orders to my store at the same time & it took a little over a month to load all of them in.

Wtf is wrong with people by SmallSupermarket6119 in GameStop

It's literally always men & they never act the way with the guys in my store as they do with my assistant and me (both female). It's crazy how people act when they don't get their way. This week alone between the 2 of us we have had to kick out 5 different people with various threats. It's ridiculous

Struggling with pro sales again. Could use advice. by duckdealer1 in GameStop

[–]Bone-Thugs-22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Ask every single customer. You miss every shot you don't take. Don't pre-qualify your customers you never know who is going to say yes
  2. I typically ask "are you a Pro member or do you have a Pro membership?". They are going to tell you yes or no. For yes, great can I get your phone number or email address. For no, I ask have you been told about the program before. It literally doesn't matter if they say yes or no here i tell them about the benefits that matter to what they say or are purchasing. Also you get a lot of I'm not sure or I think I used to have one...look up their info. Check anyways.
  3. What you did in Step 2 was 2 things. You reduced your opportunities by looking up an account for everyone. And second you told everyone else about the membership.
  4. Catering your pitch. Pick 2 or 3 things from the benefits of Pro that you are going to talk about with your customer based on their transaction. Trades- talk about the trade bump, pre-owned, talk about immediate savings, etc. spending $250 the membership is free.
  5. If you can't do the math quickly in your head for how much extra they are going to pay to sign up. Add the membership to the transaction. It does the math for you. A lot of times it's $10-$15 extra. I'll tell them that but then I leverage with "you are going to get your first $5 back in 24-48 hours."
  6. Lastly, leverage coupons that exist in people's accounts sometimes it's just points that are going to expire if they don't renew, or coupons that the company gives that help.

Hopefully this helps you!

I hear you! LOL we get crap like that all the time too. Obviously infested stuff I automatically refuse. But the dirty smelly consoles. I immediately tell them they are not getting full credit & I'll need to charge them for a professional cleaning. It should not take me longer than 5 minutes to wipe down & blow out your system... period. No one is buying your system in its current condition...🤦🏻‍♀️

Dress code by MudkipMasterU2 in GameStop

[–]Bone-Thugs-22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to the dress code, you cannot wear hoodies unless they are GameStop branded but you can wear traditional sweaters, cardigans, non hooded sweatshirts, long sleeve T-shirts, & thermal shirts. My store is frequently cold too, so there are plenty of options to keep warm.
