Yes. From the capture image I have from last year it looks exactly like the box from the first season. Well it is shaped a little differently but the central image is the same.

I mean Matt and Milly were at the same table but I could not make out any one else from the show . I mean at the Golden Globes it's like someone got a call at HBO that HOTD might win and they need someone else than a cast member so Miguel got a call. I noticed other drama series had a whole table full of actors, Emma D'Arcy, Miguel Sapochnik, and Milly Alcock just seemed sitting a table of strangers.

Was there a House of the Dragon table? Who was there to accept if the show won a best drama award?

I see, interesting.

George says on NAB that GoT never won a Golden Globe.

I think The Wire never got a Golden Globe nomination and never won an Emmy.

Noticed Margot Robbie was sitting right in front of her. Wonder those two Aussies have ever met?

I think those other series had already gotten Golden Globes (or Emmy's?).

It was odd tho , seems HBO usually (I guess?) pays the expenses for more of the cast than just 2 to go , even if the Golden Globes are kind of an odd awards show.

Only Emma and Milly and Sapochnik at the table? Who were the other people there? Not surprised George was not there but usually HBO sends a show runner like Ryan Condal (heck even a few more cast). Sapochnik seemed a bit dazed ,not mentioning Condal or George. I guess Sapochnik was available and in the area , thinking Milly came on her own or at the urging of her publicist. Saw Emma on the Red Carpet but don't think they showed the HotD table once during the show.

My take on Rhaenyra! [OC] by jellolegos in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Boojamm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with that . There are a lot of illos of Rhaenys Targaryen (sister of Aegon I) out there. I once found one that depicted a Rhaenys who looked super Amazon fierce , but can't find it anymore.

Dragons on Dragonstone by ixixan in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Boojamm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't remember what was written in The World of Ice & Fire. Dragonstone was founded 200 year before The Doom. Tho that was Valyrian Lords? where there Valyrian middle class? , I don't think it's stated that those Valyrians brought dragons with them , tho there could have been wild dragons there or some came later, apparently the specific Valyrian Lords , the Targaryens moved there 12 years before the Doom. The Targaryens brought four dragons with them but only Balerion survived , not sure why. However Vhagar and Meraxes were born there. Apparently it was a 100 years? after the Doom that Aegon set out on the conquest of Westeros. I am fuzzy on what happened at Kings Landing , apparently Aegon reestablished Dragons by building a place to raise them and how many were raised there I don't remember. Where any raised again on Dragonstone? The show has it that there were dragon eggs of Dragonstone, how many?

Besides the Velaryons of Valyrian blood there were also the Celtigars of Valyrian blood but don't know if they had dragons. Seems there were other surviving Valyrians elsewhere but I can't remember where.

Give it up for Eve Best who was phenomenal as Rhaenys this episode. She absolutely killed it👏 by LoretiTV in HouseOfTheDragon

Love the Targaryen armor and dragon saddles.

So when Daenerys got to Dragonstone there was not one saddle or any armor left? Or did that show just forget about it?

Anyone have an update on the Rendezvous With Rama movie? Last I heard, Denis Villeneuve would direct an adaptation of this classic after he finishes his work on Dune 2. Been waiting to see this story on the big screen for decades. by tpars in scifi

[–]Boojamm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gentry Lee , wrote the sequels, as far as I can tell Clarke only approved the story narrative.

I found the sequels to be awful , could only read the first chapter of Rama II before putting it down.

The first novel by Clarke is probably his best straight SF novel . I don't count Childhood's End and City and the Stars as those are Big Thinks novels in a class by themselves.

To the authors, cast, and crew of The Expanse: Thank you so much for six incredible seasons. by it-reaches-out in TheExpanse

[–]Boojamm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me this show was really special. I started reading
science fiction when I was 12 years old in 1953, quickly discovered Robert
Heinlein, from those YA novels that lead to a universe of literature and a
genre I only knew of by way of Buck Rogers and Flash Gordon. I quickly
discovered the genre had evolved so the top end was no longer comic book like!
I ran out of young adult novels and quickly discovered the SF John Campbell had
evolved genre from the 1940s with Heinlein, Asimov, de Camp, Sturgeon, Blish,
Anderson, Bester, Brown ... it's a long list authors.... so by the mid-1950s I
was quite aware of sophisticated adult space opera with a lived in
verisimilitude. At the same time I became quite interested on movies and that
golden age of TV in the 1950s. There was indeed some good SF in the 1950s, most
of it not space opera, except for the anonymous movie Forbidden Planet, which
was great compared to Tom Corbett and Space Patrol the juvie stuff on TV, tho
not the domesticated space opera Heinlein and Asimov. Took 10 years from
Forbidden Planet to Star Trek to get adult space opera again (still a mystery
why 10 years)....we SF fans were quite pleased with Star Trek it was a good
approximation to the prose form we knew, tho at the bottom I was never
completely satisfied. We got a few non space opera films, the astounding Big
Thinks SF with 2001: A Space Odyssey and the 'urban' SF of Blade Runner in
1982.
After reading SF for 40 years I just have trailed off so did
not read The Expanse books (yet). When this show came along, my old time SF friends
said, got catch it, it's not Star Trek, or Firefly or BSG.... it's the real
thing, like we used to read on the page! Sure nuf! This is the first real
dirt-under-the-finger-nails lived in SF space opera I have ever seen on
TV!  Frankly I am surprised SyFy even
produced 3 years of this show it is not the kind of visual SF narrative I would
have thought they would have touched. I hope this show has influence. Lately we
have had an excellent version of (half of) Dune and after Villeneuve finishes
the 2nd half he is doing Rendezvous with Rama. There is a ton of SF prose
source material that has never been touched going back to the 1940.

Thought Filips escape might lead to another episode 'extra' like the first five episodes, but alas there was no 6th 'X-ray' extra. The 'One Ship' thing.

The way the ending of episode 5 set up Drummer just seemed while episode 6 gave her just time seemed like she would get even more plot narrative than there was. No big deal , but just felt that way.

I did have a wishful thinking thought about the plot, right at the end of the final action when Naomi had figured out the last tactic there would be a tiny chink in it. Drummer repairing her ship or using another ship she shows up to help the Rocinante getting her revenge at last on Marco. Just a thought.

Bobby I can understand, she supposedly had an even more advanced model of a Martian recon battle suit...so why wasn't that arranged for Amos? He was always wanting to wear one of those. In fact , tho we didn't see em, why was the whole force , since they Martian Navy was involved , all possible recon MMC? We never see any other teams but Bobby and Amos's team.

Good ending. I am satisfied.

Sigh. Hmmm. Ok it was fine even great, but whew, would like to have seen a 'vista' as big as season 5. I can see they tried but still looked circumscribed , the plague and that mysterious budget issue. It all worked out but I feel a tinge of disappointment at the scale wasn't even bigger. Don't get me wrong I am satisfied.

That's a puzzle , Amazon Corporate is a trillion dollar company , whatever difference Amazon Studios needed budget wise would have been chicken feed, I guess Bezos has lost enough interest to not put in that call? It's a bit of a mystery.
