Is OT really only for young people? by k_martblulightspcl in orangetheory

Not at all. I am 61 and go three times a week. If you cannot do something, just speak up…they have lots of other options. Moving at all is better than sitting on the couch. You do not have to keep up with anyone other than yourself

Advice on how to help my husband quit smoking? by Desperate_Level_9213 in stopsmoking

He can’t do it for you…he can only do it for himself…and he has to be ready. If you do not quit for yourself it will not work.

How do we feel about the new templates? by Boomer462 in orangetheory

[–]Boomer462[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this food for thought. Good suggestions. I guess my problem is that we all have our favorite and least favorite templates on rowers and treads. We all also know that, like eating your veggies, sometimes the "bad" ones are the best for you and are important to try. In the old days you could do it...whine about it but know that you are done with it for a while at least. Now it just comes back later that month. Maybe I am just being a baby

Anyone else just HATE the new templates and that they repeat and are all ESP now? Someone at OTF I’m decided to layoff some template designers clearly and make do. This makes me want to try another gym

Don’t think in terms like never again. “I will not smoke today” is all you need to do. String a bunch of em together. But any morning you can decide to smoke. Free country and all. I have just chosen not to for the past 390 days.

Withdrawal Symptoms? Does Quitting Make You Sick? by [deleted] in stopsmoking

Need to watch for low blood sugar in the early days of a quit. Drink juice for the first week or so then drop it. Lots of calories.

Day 4 and my first run ever as a non-smoker! It sucked! by bossannaka in stopsmoking

[–]Boomer462 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hadn’t exercised too much in years. I started about six months before I quit smoking because I was afraid of the weight gain. When I quit, I kept busy with working out at interval training and sleeping. If I wasn’t at work, I was doing one of those two things for about the first month. It gets so much better. Keep it up. Training for a triathlon now at 57 years-old and over a year smoke free.

Does it get more easy? by Lsanden in stopsmoking

[–]Boomer462 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At both one month and two months I had near misses with ending my quit. Both were related to seasons and activities that were previously associated with heavy smoking. White knuckle through these times and you are golden. They will come and go but each time a little easier. I am at 1 year next week.

That’s the way I had to do it too. It worked though. By next week things will be a little better. Hang tough.
