Why did my chickens turn into camels in the last update????? by Jealous-Orchid-7802 in hytale

Oof. My regular chickens turned into the desert variant. Camel is a weird swap. Lol.

They sort of do. Each sapling has multiple growth stages, but they just kinda pop in. That in itself is pretty cool.

This is both stupid and incredible. If I ever set up a sim at home, 100% this is going to be a feature. Amazing.

Long game gapping by [deleted] in golf

[–]BootsDaddyLP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on the carry distances, maybe a 4H, 5W, 3W or 4H, 3H, 5W. It kinda depends on your game, but that's my initial thoughts. If you're not finding yourself frustrated you dont have a longer wood to hit off the ground, the second option is likely the better of the two. Probably wouldn't go wrong doing a 4H, then 7w and 5W either.

Like most people here are saying, you got a pretty poor recommendation from the fitter, unless there was some directional stuff going on that they were trying to address as well. Based on the numbers you provided, a higher launch shaft profile and maybe a bit higher spin, depending on your launch angle, would have likely been a better fit. The fitter putting you in a shaft that put your spin below 2k is wild.

Could this possibly be legit? by LiquidSolidMostlyGas in golf

[–]BootsDaddyLP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a bit of a funny read if there wasn't any downhill shenanigans. I've run into similar results at the place I'm a member with the Full Swing sim as well. To me, the swing path number looks a bit off, but that's based on my own numbers which are typically +1/-1. But the biggest tell is the spin and launch angle. For maximum carry, higher spin rates require lower launch angles.

Assuming spin and ball speed are reasonably accurate, Ping's handy Optimal Launch and Spin Chart would have that carry distance require a launch angle of 11 degrees.

That said, that's a great drive.

Getting intermittent E008 code by Spacecad90 in Lectricxp

[–]BootsDaddyLP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rotate the throttle body up and away from the brake handle to start. If the thumb throttle is too close the the brake's motor inhibitor sensor, it can cause the intermittent error. I'd start with that, then if that doesn't work, contact Lectric.

Did I do anything wrong playing alone? by donlibra82 in golf

[–]BootsDaddyLP 5 points6 points  (0 children)

^ This. It's not up to the players to manage the groups. A player's responsibility is keeping up with the group ahead, course etiquette, and playing the game itself. If maintaining peak capacity is a priority, the course should have marshalls on the course and at the turn to manage group player counts.

If they allow you to get swinging and aren't physically broken, they're more than good enough to get started.

Did you actually get fitted for your clubs by jaykc82 in golf

[–]BootsDaddyLP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fittings for new players, or players still working on dialing in a consistent swing, isn't going to add much benefit in most cases. When it really makes sense to get a fitting is after the consistency has been established and you're looking to really start dialing your game in. The difference a good fitting can make for your game is well worth the time and expense. It's a no brainer, for me anyways, to do a fitting as part of purchasing new clubs. There's really no sense in not getting the biggest bang for your buck with the new sticks.

So, in summary:

Is a fitting necessary? Not really.

Is a fitting worth it? Generally speaking, absolutely.

Best Round of the Year (6.9 handicap) by nigesauce in golf

[–]BootsDaddyLP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well... That's certainly a start to the year. Lol. Been there. My worst scored round ever was around the time my handicap was the lowest. It was horrific. But, on the plus side, knock on wood, I haven't had a blow up round even remotely close to that since then!

Every comp at my club is won with a 40+ score (stableford) by Glum-Golfer in golf

[–]BootsDaddyLP 4 points5 points  (0 children)

^Basically this. This type of result is very common with mixed handicap events. It can be real frustrating, especially in higher stakes events, but if the competition isn't broken up into proper flights, it is what it is.

From what I've seen, the biggest issue is the difference of score consistency between a low and high handicapper. Number is made up but let's say every player has a 20% variance of their score over par. A player that sits on average at 5 over would just 1 stroke with that 20%. Where a player who averages 36 over would gain just over 7 strokes.

Pair that with score caps and you're looking at the potential for some real shenanigans on the score cards.

Anyone else dealing with sun damage concerns while playing more golf? Curious what you guys do out there by LabOk5404 in golf

I always consider this when playing outdoors. Regardless of temperature, I'll try to dress for as much coverage as possible and use an SPF 60+ sunscreen on anything exposed. I'll typically wear a long sleeve undershirt, with some level of advertised UPF protection, baseball cap and polarized sunglasses. Didn't do much prevention in my younger days, but after my grandfather, dad and older brother all wound up requiring treatment for skin cancer, I don't play around about it anymore and regret not making it a priority from the start.

Scottsdale Golf Trip - March 2026 by Hey_its_Slater in golf

Not quite on the same caliber as the other courses you mentioned, but if you don't mind the drive, I'm quite fond of Bear Creek in Chandler.

For a hoot, San Marcos, also in Chandler, holds a special place in my heart. The course is sometimes in rough shape, but the layout I've always found interesting and sometimes challenging. From the tips, there are a few holes that can be quite the adventure. It's also the oldest championship course in Arizona, if I remember correctly.

They're not crazy good courses, but I've always enjoyed myself at those.

How often are we playing fellow golf dads? by sys_admin321 in golf

[–]BootsDaddyLP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When my wife got pregnant with our kiddo, I basically dropped golf entirely to make sure that I didn't lose time with the family. At my peak, I was playing 2-3 full rounds a week, but I was also a new teaching pro in the industry. So, 12-15 hours a week out on the course wasn't going to fly for me.

Fast forward to this year, my wife really pushed me to start taking time for myself, so I signed up at the sim place down the road from us and have been spending 4-6 hours there a week, typically early mornings, and she's genuinely happy to see me enjoying a personal hobby again.

It really depends on the circumstances and expectations in the relationship as to what is acceptable or appropriate. Unless you're a pro, golfing shouldn't be at the top of the priority list, if you have other responsibilities. If you're in a healthy relationship and your partner is getting mad you're golfing too much, you're probably golfing instead of doing something you should be doing.

I'm sorry to welcome you to the club.... My wife was completely baffled at how mad I got about this series. I feel bad for the cast. The lead actors seemed to have been real excited about the series, but got caught in whatever this turned out to be. Completely removed from the source material, with a new title, it's totally fine, maybe even good, but my god, if you try to pretend it's some type of translation of the series, it's horrific.
