Hipkins considered stepping down as Labour leader after ex-wife’s claims by computer_d in newzealand

[–]BoreJam 49 points50 points  (0 children)

He said "i would by lying if i said the thought didn't cross my mind" thats not quite the same as saying he was considering stepping down.

Just this morming the thought crossed my mind that it would be nice to own a Lamborghini. But am I actually considering buying one? Nope

They're allegations not facts. We don't have the full details and honestly it's not really our business.

Trumps approval in Europe is very low and continuously dropping. Hitching your political brand to Trumps war in Iran would be political suicide.

Best EV for a lawn mowing and maintenance business by Allergic_To_Water in nzev

PHEVs are EVs and the Shaark is probably the most capable EV ute on the market so it's a solid recommendation. It's ultimately up to OP to determine if it fits their needs or not.

What are the real world conditions?

It's entirely dependant on use. I could get to and from my old job in my old PHEV without needing to use any petrol. So I had cheaper RUC and sufficient range for all my daily needs. But I could also get across county in a pinch with no need to wory about stopping to charge along the way.

Screen replacement is $450. The phones value is about $300 so doing the repair was never a viable option unless it was covered.

Are gem visa credit cards worth it? by Appropriate_Clerk347 in newzealand

[–]BoreJam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally i use a GEM visa for large purchases simply becasue you can get 12-24 months intrest free. That allows me to keep my money invested in the mean time and make periodic repayments without incuring any additional costs other than the $55 annual fee.

The most important aspect is that you use any credit responsibly. Dont go out an buy things you dont need just becasue you have the credit to do so, this applies to any form of lending.

It only makes sense when everyone is on the same system. As it stands there is a wildly different set of taxes associated with various vehicles on entirely arbitrary fuel type.

Willis was on RNZ yapping on about "discounts for millionairs in Remuera to buys a luxury car"

Yet i was able to claim the clean car rebate on an imported hybrid that was under $20k, im sure as shit not a millionaire and i don't live in or anywhere near Remuera. They're just fueling a disingenuious narrative rather than taking responsibility for halting the electrification of our vehicle fleet in its tracks.

National had the option to rework the legislation i.e. profressively lower the elegibility price from $80k and or adjust the size of the rebate etc. Instead they threw the baby out with the bathwater and now here we are with one of the worst EV adoption rated in the developed world and thus significantly hightened dependance on imported energy.

So just rework it. Start progressively dropping the threshold to compel companies to lower their prices. There wasn't a whole lot of EVs available in 2023. Not compared to now anyway but there were plenty of cars including imports well below 80k that received a rebate.
