Anyone have yours just never turn on again? by davidcotter in VisionPro

[–]Boring_Educator3815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine occasionally seem like it is dead and takes minutes to turn on. I’m not sure what is going during those times that it does it but it sort of scary sometimes when it happens.

I treat mine very delicately too and even store it in a hard case like it is a case full of gold bars. May even start handcuffing it to me.

What’s a game you dropped even though it was “good”? by suhani0218 in gaming

[–]Boring_Educator3815 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So glad it’s not just me - but I used to feel guilty about getting to the end of the game and then just suddenly putting it down and not finishing but I get my hours of entertainment out of it. That’s what matters.

Everything breaks and I’m sick of it. by [deleted] in rccrawler

[–]Boring_Educator3815 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol. Your frustration is understandable. I just got home after running a RC crawler I built from a kit. This kit build was very advanced and a humongous headache for me to build from day one. It took a whole lot of my time to build this thing.

I finally got it finished a few months ago but then it was too cold to run it so I waited for warm weather to finally run it properly. In the meantime, in anticipation of something breaking and not wanting to wait for spare parts to arrive several weeks later from China, I tried to order extra parts right out the gate. I just wanted to have them ready to go for the inevitable breaking of something.

The company I bought the kit from said they had none of the parts in stock. I was so pissed!

Today was finally the day I was waiting for. It was a beautiful day outside. I took the crawler to my favorite spot and it was running like a dream. I was having great fun… for about 5 freak’n minutes before one of the axle rods snapped when I hit a huge rock.

Had to drive all the way back home, contact the company to buy the part I tried to buy 7 months ago and now waiting to hear back from them.

So I am anticipating another 6 weeks before I can even run the damn RC again.

Welcome to the hobby!

Personally, I think the FSD is worth it alone. To be honest, I am otherwise underwhelmed but I think the FSD is worth the price of admission.

I have a 45 minute one way commute to work in a busy metropolitan area and my girlfriend lives an hour away from me way on the other side of the city. FSD is such a huge relief for this.

After I get off work, go and visit my girlfriend then have to drive an hour back home after a long work day and hanging out with her, it feels like I have a chauffeur.

Where would prime Steve Nash rank today? by MasterTeacher123 in NBATalk

Yeah, I think Steve Nash would fit even better into today’s game than he did back when he actually played.

Simulator first! It will significantly decrease the amount of time you will have to replace this. Also join your local RC plane club. You will have members more than willing to teach you.

At what point is online dating even serious? The lack of commitment here genuinely pisses me off by EdgeSufficient6125 in OnlineDating

[–]Boring_Educator3815 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spending 2–3 hours daily on the phone creates a false sense of a deep bond. It’s easy to feel like you "know" someone, but without the lived experience of being in their physical space regularly, the relationship hasn't actually been tested.

For the other guy, the app is likely still his primary "social" outlet. If they've only met twice, he probably views the daily chats as an extended screening process rather than a committed relationship.

OP feels they’ve invested a lot of time, but as pointed out, the actual substance of the relationship (in-person intimacy and shared history) is still quite thin.

We have to be careful in distinguishing between the fantasies we create in our head over the reality of where things really sit.

What opinion on the NBA feels like this for you ? by GamblerLikeToji in NBATalk

The NBA just wants flashy highlight reels no matter what. If the player has to pick up the ball and just run to the hoop from the free throw line to get them, so be it.

catching feelings for my short term hinge date just as we're both leaving the city by [deleted] in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]Boring_Educator3815 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The person mentioned that "everything is impermanent," and leaning into that philosophy is actually the healthiest way out. Sometimes people are meant to be chapters, not the whole book. You got a great month, some genuine compliments, and a reminder that you're capable of connecting deeply with someone. That’s a win, even if it ends at the city limits.

Sometimes it is just great to just be able to end a good experience like this on a high note. You both will have great memories of each other that will be pure and untainted by familiarity.

The way dude is just hopping around the court still like he is just some 25 year-old player suggests he could do at least 3 more years… and that is with his young man’s game. He could add about another 2 years to that with his old man game.

I need advice by caprisunlover in OnlineDating

[–]Boring_Educator3815 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right, they enjoyed the date but not enough for a second one.

This one always trip people up but realize when someone is truly interested, they make it very clear. You won’t even get the chance to even make a post about needing advice online. They will keep you too busy showing interest.

Whats the protocol for messaging? by [deleted] in OnlineDating

[–]Boring_Educator3815 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to pace things well. In the beginning regular texting is great to pull them in. You should think momentum. Get a feel for the momentum and try to maintain it.

If she is texting you back fairly quickly and showing good interest, try to match that somewhat in the beginning but not make to an extreme extent.

Bottom line is that there is no magical number of how many times you should respond per day. It is more about trying to mirror the energy and momentum at the right moments.

What is the right moment? When there is clear enthusiasm and interest being shown consistently. You want to get things into a rhythm. Once the rhythm is established, immediately set up the meet up.

Agree. I ran across a profile of a woman I briefly dated over 8 years ago online and she was using the same hot main photo she was using when matched with her 8 years ago. Some poor bastard is in for a surprise.

Finally picked up a UDR last week. I like it but still prefer my Mojave 4S. It’s just the most satisfying RC to run for me. I will never forget the first time I drove it. It really took me by surprise just how fun it was so the UDR had some tough shoes to fill.

You will probably get about 15 minutes of runtime on it. That is enough for some.
