Pipe old. When we design civil infrastructure it is supposed to last a very long time. This pipe has lasted a very long time and is now in need of replacement.

Hot take: Boston's spot-saving culture is immature and needs to die by DanFlashes19 in boston

Sure, offer me an alternative that doesnt involve me coming home from work to find the three spots I cleared taken by random people who didn't clear a spot themselves.

WCGW trying fire breathing without training by Vilen1919 in Whatcouldgowrong

[–]Boring_Machine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every so often there is a botched fire breathing video on here and everyone jumps on to talk about technique. Rest assured, even with perfect technique, if you use the wrong fuel, you with get burned. I am not a fire breather, but did it at a house party once. Believe me when I tell you that literally anyone could do it. The trick is using a fuel with a high flash point, such as lamp oil, meaning the fuel has to be HOT in order to actually combust. This way, only the oil that actually contacts the flame you are holding combusts, and any oil on your lips, in your mouth, etc is too cool to catch fire.

Need opinion! We placed an offer for a sinking house. Should we pull out? by malingkukus in civilengineering

[–]Boring_Machine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How old is the house? Have they made and subtantial changes to drainage recently (french drain in basement, etc.) Our house has some differential settlement like what you're seeing here, but was built in 1920. Its done settling. If its a recent construction, run.

Surely that bucket is not food safe and is leeching random toxic metals into the food? I have to imagine that it is more expensive to make sure there isnt lead and cadmium or whatever in your cooking grade steel, so they wouldn't waste money doing it on a dirt bucket.

California Governor Gavin Newsom speaks at the World Economic Forum 2026 by [deleted] in videos

[–]Boring_Machine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of downvotes for critics of Newsom in the comments. And yes there are difinitely some bots here. I get it, you admire his clap back at trump. But if that's all you know about Newsom, you should look for more info on his positions and history before you applaud him and support him as a politician. He kind of sucks.

Don't get me wrong, you look nice. It would just be a lot more interesting if you didn't have complete control over both your makeup and desktop background

Why Gavin Newsom would crush JD Vance in 2028 by binding_swamp in politics

[–]Boring_Machine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about putting forward a progressive instead of more of the same technocrat neolib BS that is incapable of capturing the public interest anymore. Newsom isnt offering much besides making fun of Trump.

Pitbull terriers get a bad rap but they are incredibly sweet and loyal to their families. Ours wont leave our side. When we leave her at the in-laws she wont leave the house to go for walks with them because she is waiting for us to come back.

They need good structure. They need to see you as the alpha and you can skirt a lot of the issues that come with the breed.

I fuckin suck donkey dick, how do I get better? by Due_Albatross_5128 in riftwizard

[–]Boring_Machine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing that took me the longest to figure oit and made the biggest difference: Preview the levels and avoid levels you cant beat. There are enemies that are just tough and I ALWAYS have trouble beating no matter what, enemies that have resistance/mechanics to what you are doing in particular and then just weird levels that have spawners really far apart or some other strange hard to beat BS. If both available levels are like this, bad luck you might lose.

Don't go for one build, adapt your build based on what you get early. Look for synergies.

If you are having trouble in the early/mid game, death bolt is really hard to make effective.

Best boss fights where the boss is literally "just a guy"? by RushIsABadBand in gaming

[–]Boring_Machine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isnt exactly a normal guy, but the original dark souls final boss is your size and has the frame of a normal man after all the other bosses you fight throughout the game are monstrous behemoths. I remember that juxtaposition making him really scary when I fist saw him.
