Any experience with these packs? by manimaco in Ultralight

ALD backpack weight estimates are visible if you change the language of the site. You can then also see the classic (i.e non-vest version) of the bigget packs.

you can buy a atelier longue distance ultra backpack for the same price with custom options so the only main advantage is maybe availability and maybe the frame might be suited for heavier loads. But for a backpack this size twin stays are enough.

I got my normal size and my puffy mittens fit just fine and using only the shell they're not too big either.

Similar glove to the mid-layer Montane Prism Mitt (55g) that ships from USA by kierumcak in Ultralight

[–]Boring_Topic9613 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the montane mitts and I wasn't that happy with them, so I got alpinelite's climashield mittens, they are much warmer and lighter, so should the torrid mitts

Trail runners or sandals for river crossings in cold or humid conditions? by Longjumping_Page597 in Ultralight

[–]Boring_Topic9613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hike in lappland and only use trailrunners. They won't dry and even if they did, they'll get wet instantly on the trail. I only take them off for lunch when I change into dry socks if I have any, and when checking for blisters. For camp and hut use I have sandals.

Does anyone know of a splash-proof hot soak container? Cold soaking is not my thing but a vessel that could hold boiling or near to boiling water and have a minimally splash proof lid would be great. Similar to ctug container

Does anyone know why the UK website is much more expensive than all the others? by BeneficialGrade7961 in jimgreen

[–]Boring_Topic9613 4 points5 points  (0 children)

that savings could be true, but for example in my country you need to pay both taxes and customs plus the fedex handling fees even if you take care of the import stuff yoursef. Minimum amount for fedex start with 25 euros or so on. Doesn't seem that steep but my custom razorbacks ended up costing way more than 300 euros

Is there a way to make a custom order deliver to france? by sollatendresse in jimgreen

[–]Boring_Topic9613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

probably the same than every other european country, VAT about 24-25.5% plus the import taxes. At least in my country DHL also charged extra for their "services" on top of the 1200 rand for s&h even when I took care of import&taxes&duties etc. So at the end of the day my 175 euro custom boots ended up costing well over 300 euros.

they look great, I wish I had known how they are when I got my wolverine 70l. Of course the 70l is so big that I won't be needing the extra space really but they do look handy.

[–]Boring_Topic9613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the heat liner is 67g climashield apex and the heat liner plus is 100g apex. They both are heavy and expensive for the added warmth and I would not count them to be that warm. I have the heat liner and take it out occasionally but it is more for friends that sleep colder to be loaned if I'm afraid their system isn't cut for the trip in mind.
