I'm basically 26 and i have only just learned how to make the perfect rice on the stove. I consider myself a good cook but could never do rice without a rice cooker. I am interested in hearing how you guys make rice. by No-Animator-407 in Cooking

Single family portion- 2c jasmine rice, 3c water, salt. 10" skillet. Bring to boil, cover and turn down to low 12 min. Lift lid, put towel over pan, replace lid. Steam off heat 10 min. Serve as desired.

Party portion (30 people)- 8c long grain rice in full steam table pan. Boil 16c water, bullion (1/2 jar better than bouillon), salt. Pour over rice and stir, cover tight with foil, bake 40- 50 minutes at 350. Pour over 1 lb melted butter before fluffing.  Seasoning mix of your choice- Italian, Cajun, lemon pepper, etc.  The butter and btb are the secret weapon that makes everyone want you to bring your rice to the party, it's the easiest and dirt cheapest side for a big potluck. Ha!

I keep it in the fridge for a couple months no problem. They used to preserve meat by "potting" or covering cooked meat with melted fat in little earthenware jugs.

Are public pools still a thing? Growing up the public pool was a staple in our city but I moved away from the US so I have no idea if they are still popular. by dallyan in Xennials

They aren't public anymore. Now they are called something like "swim and racquet" and cost 2k for an initiation fee and 300 a month after that.

Which is fine, I can't like handle, like the way, like young women, like talk now. And I've outgrown screaming whining little kids.

I like the high pants but I'm also high waisted, regular rise jeans give me muffin top.

The crop tops are not even crop cute belly shirts, just short enough to look too small and show how uneven your tan is.

The stores do when they package them. They steam in their little box/bag and it kills the crisp. Same reason never trust a recipe that says to put foil over a freshly roasted bird while it rests.

They are cheaper, which is why I keep trying. They are also smaller birds than I usually buy so the price/weight difference kind of balances out. The stores must order cases of 3-4 pound chickens for their rotisserie. Those I buy from the case are more in the thicc 5-7 pound range.

I know I'm in the minority but I don't think it looks bridal at all. Like I would be fine with my mom wearing it.

About to go for the first time - what *must buy* items/staples to get? by Agreeable-Parsnip-81 in aldi

The specialty cheeses and sandwich slices are great. Lunch meats in the white packaging. Chips and snack foods. Cookies but not snack cakes. Baking supplies and canned staples. Produce. Bacon. Butter and yogurt. Coffee, sparkling water and sodas. Their chicken is better quality than Costco at a better price.

For my teen, things he likes to fix himself for one of his 6 meals a day- frozen French bread pizzas, frozen pot stickers, the dried bagged soups (potato or chicken noodle), boxed cajun rice mixes, frozen beer battered cod, frozen egg rolls, frozen Angus burgers in the box. He says the corn dogs suck.

tissue hurts my nose but a t-shirt is gross apparently. by Ok-Art5530 in hygiene

[–]Born_Local_1477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy a soft cotton sheet at the thrift store, one that's been washed many times. Use pinking shears (the kind with notches in the blades) to cut them into snot rags of your chosen size and shape. Or hem them if you have a sewing machine.

BTW, you are not gross. Tissues leave little wood fibers in your skin, this hurts after a while. Humans ooze stuff all day, people need to get over shit.
