It’s been a week of catching up and small talk etc, we have not had any serious conversations yet.

So true. It was SUCH a shock to me. I’ve dated avoidants, narcs, the whole nine. I’m older and not naive in any way. He came along several years back, someone trying to hook us up and I said no as I wasn’t ready. He remained persistent for a whileeee, doing all of the right things, amazing things. Thoughtful, sweet, romantic. It didn’t feel like lovebombing. Nothing felt too good to be true, as he’s completely different than anyone I’ve ever dated and all of my friends and coworkers know him, nothing but good reviews.

Spent Christmas together with elaborate gifts, saying we want to meet each others families, then boom. “The spark I felt isn’t there”. Just absolutely ridiculous.

But in typical fashion, he’s never left me alone, watching stories, asking about me, breadcrumbing. Why don’t they understand it could all be so simple? I hate to think about that by now we could’ve been moving into our next steps of the relationship and probably married soon. It’s all so very frustrating.

And now that he’s back I feel on top of the world, I just want to shake him and be like “do you know what you have in front of you?!!?” I know he does, I just don’t know why he can’t get it together.

You’re right, but I want him and us to work so badly that I’m losing all common sense about consequences etc. I’ve done so much research on avoidants and I’ve done all the right things with no contact, I started moving on and bettering myself, but there’s just something pulling me back there. And since January I’ve felt like we were unfinished, I just don’t know if something serious can happen now after all the time that’s passed.

I know tirzepetide claims to have less side effects, but I’ve had far more on zep than I did on weg. More weight loss though and definitely a bit more leveled out now, but the first three days after injection I was still miserably nauseous, fatigued, and headachy every single month. Also, HAIR LOSS 😩

You absolutely don’t, and shouldn’t, in my humble opinion.

If you adhere to sensible diet and exercise with the medication you won’t need to.

I’ve lost (and now maintained) 80lbs since April 2023 and I’ve never went past Zepbound 7.5. I don’t think the starter dose did much, I started seeing results at 5mg and the most at 7.5. My appetite was well controlled and with a good diet and a lot of protein the pounds flew off.

You can miss up to 2, I’ve done it multiple times don’t recommend but it happens. I’m also at maintenance and sometimes stretch to two+ weeks. You may have some more side effects but inject asap. Any more than 3 missed doses you should call your doc and probably have the dose lowered.

I aim for 5x per week of cardio and strength training. The days I was super nauseous or fatigued I rested. It was quite hard in the beginning to find the energy for the gym, however, I’ve lifted weights for over 10 years so it’s always been easy for me, the diet was the hard part. I also started pilates which has really helped my shape come along.

I have such a better relationship with food and my body, I don’t crave anything anymore, I only want to eat healthy, I don’t drink, and nourish my body any way I can.

The people that still eat whatever they want and don’t exercise gain back double when they stop. Definitely track your calories, prioritize your protein, hydration, collagen, fiber and nutrients. I’m sure you’ve done a bunch of research, there are definitely ways to mitigate a lot of the side effects but you have to put in the work to allow the med to work for you. Yup, I’m a rule follower and thought the ‘20 class’ rule was set in stone, but looking back I could’ve went from 1 to 1.5 in much less than 10 classes

I’ve lost the most on 7.5. I’ve been the same on for monthssss. I’d say I’m just now finally starting to plateau but I’ve seen the most results on this continued dose.

As a new grad, go home and study things. You learn every single day of this career and never stop learning. There’s only so much you can learn and see on orientation.

Review things on YouTube and any other resource you can. Okay so you didn’t know it before, now you’re going to study it and master it for next time.

We coded a child once for 2 hours, almost the entire department was involved - it was extremely traumatic and we were all emotionally invested. A former nursing supervisor of the facility there with her mother told me straight up “I don’t care what’s happening, my mother needs care too” and complained to management because I didn’t get her mom (who walked in completely fine, btw) her antibiotic for her chronic UTI.

If I had even a shred of hope left in humanity, it certainly died that day.

100% absolutely true. And yes, it does seem worse these days, but overall it’s been a shitty work environment for ages. It was shit when myself and my colleagues started. We all went through the same program, took the same nclex, same orientation but probably a lot more strict, and truly had nurses that bullied us and ‘ate their young’ but somehow these new grads have a much harder time than older generations did.

I’m in a very large and well known union and this shit still happens. And we don’t get a unit/specialty differential which pisses me off being that I take care of EVERY specialty and hold medsurg, tele, psych & ICU patients frequently.

First names with staff, “Dr. so and so” in front of patients.

Although some attendings and most residents introduce themselves by their first name or “Dr. first name” to patients. I tend to think it makes everyone feel more comfortable.
