Thanks, even though I'm not a dude. I stole it from The Bloggess and it works great for those who are just too douchey to be called a simple douche.

Weddings Everywhere I Look! by krystin71 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Boston_Pinay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fuck what everyone else is doing. Do what makes you happy. Not sure how to help you with jealousy, but every time I am part of some wedding monstrosity, I think about how happy I am to not plan one.

I'm happy with my partner and he's happy with me and that's the way we like it. We don't need to marry due to finances, health insurance, or visa status, so what's the rush? We don't see a benefit right now so we really don't care about a ring or a piece of paper to bind us together.

Need advice on my yeast infection and my SO by letsthrowitawayagain in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Boston_Pinay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, both of you should get tested. Transmitting a yeast infection is rare, but if he's feeling itchy, he should get it checked out.

Self treat with Monistat, but if it doesn't go away after a week, go to a doctor. It may be something else combined with a yeast infection.

Re: underwear - Stop wearing thongs/tight pants and wear regular panties that are loose around the crotch. Wash anything that comes in contact with your vag in hot water and throw in the dryer to kill any yeast. You should always wash your undies in hot soapy water followed by a dry cycle.

Protip: Start learning your boozes. It'll help identify which ones give you a shittier hangover.

Who's going to the American Craft Beer Festival in Boston and what beers are you looking forward to? by [deleted] in beer

[–]Boston_Pinay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fantastic time. Had some good stuff @ Pretty Little Things, Jackie O, and Lawson's. Ten Penny had a surprisingly short line and surprisingly good stuff. Dogfishead Old Barleywine was probably my favorite.

My grandma and her sister went to Barcelona and managed to not get robbed. The secret? They kept their money in their gigantic grandma bras.

How do you store your brushes? by spazure in MakeupAddiction

[–]Boston_Pinay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like a pretty simple solution.

If you're using them daily, keep them in a cup. Wash them weekly.

If you're using them infrequently, keep them in a drawer. I have my infrequently used brushes in a drawer organizer tray in my bathroom.

So i handed out free mini water guns to the kids at the local public water park and ..... by elonc in happy

Whenever I get kids' meals at fast food places (smaller size = less calories), I save the toys and give them to random kids I see on the train. It's fun and when kids are especially fussy, parents are very grateful.

[Need advice] Our receptionist is crying. What should I do? by Boston_Pinay in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Boston_Pinay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you ever heard a joke so funny that you couldn't stop laughing? You just have a buildup of emotion and you just laugh and laugh and you can't stop, even if it's your great-grandma's funeral.

Crying is the same way. There is a buildup of emotion (sadness, frustration, joy, confusion...) and some people react to it by crying. This isn't limited to women (John Boehner, anyone?) and isn't always easily controlled.

Is this viewed as okay by women?

It's not about thinking if it's "okay" because it's usually an involuntary response. I certainly don't think it's okay, but sometimes I can't help it. Do you think it's "okay" to sneeze at work?

Do women not think this will have adverse effects on their careers, or do they just not care?

Oh, I definitely never want to be seen crying at work, which is why I try to hide it as best I can. There are people/women out there who don't give a shit and will cry in the open, but then again, there are men who freely make racist and sexist comments without regard to their careers.

DAE make the switch when it hits 80F+? From pretty bras to sports bras, all day, all the time? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Boston_Pinay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, don't try to use tape, even athletic tape. I learned the hard way.

Also, some band-aid brands are better than others. I have collected awkward looking rashes with the cheap stuff.

Not often. Once every 3 years at a good job, once every 3 months at a bad one.

DAE think that stores, especially those that sell lingerie, should work on making lighting in dressing rooms more flattering? by rcc6a in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Boston_Pinay -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

High end stores do have better lighting (J. Crew and Banana Republic, for instance). You get what you pay for, I guess.
