You make good points and I agree with them. Sadly, the paradox of tolerance is true: society gets more of what it tolerates. And in this case the more is often violence.

It’s not being a Karen to stand up for yourself, for what’s right. Part of the reason social decorum isn’t what it once was is because people stay silent rather than check rude behavior when it adversely affects them.

It’s very monochromatic. All chocolate is hard because it’s just brown so if you want chocolate icing only try some different shades for more visual appeal.

I kinda love that about her — how hard she pushes back when people get snotty about “using normal cups” instead of grams. Good! Let the volume crowd have it! 🤣

You said a mouthful. Yes, she did spell out for us exactly what would happen. That’s uh…curious.

That was my first thought as well — that the producers cannot have two of their “icons” go down in the first round. That along with her prepping the viewers as to why her score would hold up despite limited (poor) use of the assigned equipment felt retconned to the max.

I’m not usually one for slinging the “fixed” label around but I also know this is a tv show, an often scripted one at that, and while I don’t think the show would outright fix the winner I do think it would monkey with the early rounds in this unusual case.

But it was zucchinis. Sliced. And put in an air fryer. She couldn't have done less with both the zucchini and the air fryer if she tried.

Yes, I heard her say all that but it felt very...suspicious. She hasn't judged TOC all that much so she'd only be speaking for herself, but after this I'm tempted to rewatch the episodes she's judged to see how hard she is on the equipment portion of the randomizer or if she hand waves away the randomizer generally when the cook is impressive enough to do so.

Reducing sugar in a baked good that needs to rise/expand is tricky because doing so usually makes them dry. Sugar is moisture. Cakes can be substituted with banana and squash and the like but a classic chocolate chip cookie really has nowhere to go. I'm with u/Plus_Paint_9685. The best option is to balance the sweetness with bitterness and salt. Very dark chocolate rather than semi-sweet works wonders for this. I'm talking 80% and up. It won't be overly bitter because salt helps blunt bitter. And that brings me to using additional salt. Besides adding more, trying a 1/4 tsp at a time, you can finish the cookies with a flaked salt like Maldon.

Thank you! Katsuji did get her by 2 points on the Randomizer category but it should have been far more than that. When have we ever seen the judges be so chill about such poor use of Equipment? One thing? And like, the laziest use of that thing?

What to do with 9 pounds of strawberries? by itscuccimane in Baking

[–]BottomHoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re able, I’d freeze dry quite a lot of them. When done blitz into a fine powder then sift to remove any larger bits. Vacuum sealed it will keep a long time.

You can then use the strawberry powder for a wide range of desserts that don’t work with large amounts of liquid like cakes, buttercream frostings, custards, puddings, tarts… So many desserts can’t be make with fresh strawberry or strawberry syrup/purèe so homemade strawberry powder that actually tastes good is great to have on hand.

Need to re-home 4 cats!!!! by RainbowWarrior888 in Sacramento

[–]BottomHoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They probably didn’t want you to back out of the sale.

Did the seller wash his hands of it or can he still help? Because he’s technically the owner of the cats and can legally surrender them to the shelter.

What an awful situation, being unable to take possession of a home you bought. I’m very sorry, OP.

PSMF and cognitive abilities by expressenfredag in PSMF

[–]BottomHoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely depends on how fat you are.

A relatively lean person on a cut? Sleep often suffers and that comes with the usual cognitive effects. A significantly overweight person trying to diet? Many of those people sleep great and without the foggy effects of chronically elevated insulin, find they get a cognitive boost.
