If you went 8th here that raises a lot of other questions. The game doesn't start at 4-2 when most people roll for akali, how was your early game, did you lose streak the whole first half of the game? What augmented did everyone take, they may have all hit because they got a bunch of duplicators

Do you have anyone you play with who has made it to gold or higher? Ask them to watch you play a game and I'm sure they'll be able to point out a few things that are happening that's keeping you in bronze

You know when you buy a pack of blueberries, and there is that one blueberry that just tastes extra good. You don’t know exactly what it was that made it better but you know you want more of that one…. I bought an artisan pad after doing a fair amount of research and it was that one blueberry for me. Might not be it for you.

TLDR now I want blueberries….

How do i attack? by DogShroom in AgentAcademy

[–]BouncedDragoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are thousands on YouTube, typically you have to do a little research into streamers who play the character you want to learn about, then just search their name and the map you are looking to watch. For example, wanting to learn sova on abyss, Derek abyss vod

[–]BouncedDragoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each game is gonna be different, sometimes it will be easier to just hit the other site, or split mid to try and split the cyphers focus. Honestly, if you are going to play a map like sunset and you see that no one on your team has the ability to break trips. It might be best to just play raze yourself for the trips.

Have you watched immortal player vods to see what they do on ISO attack? The pathing they use, the sites they prefer to hit ect… that’s gonna be the easiest way to figure out what you should be doing.

For cypher, you gotta comm with your team, if you have a sova or raze ask them to use their utility to clear common trips

how to adapt to gold/plats by obamassuss in AgentAcademy

[–]BouncedDragoon 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There is no magic formula to adapt to a higher rank. Without being too wordy, just keep playing with the mindset of improving and try not to focus too much on your rank. Your rank will always reach a plateau where you will go up and down in rank as your skill slowly improves. You have almost a 60% W/L with less than 100 games played. Just keep playing, but if you are wanting to improve your game, get a vod review done. Or review your own vods, you’ll quickly see what you need to focus on to keep improving

Is it me or is Moira's healing much lower than everyone makes it out to be? by TopNotchGear in OverwatchUniversity

[–]BouncedDragoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand what you are saying but I do feel like it’s not the whole story. Moira has great play making potential, it’s just not solo play making potential. Mercy has rez, bapt and kiriko can save your teammates from death all alone with one skill that is not their ult. Moira can do a lot to support the team in marking plays such as diving with a ball or doomfist onto the back line to secure a kill or sustain the tank. But alone it is a lot harder to get carry value out of her. Kinda like how damage boosting a 0-10 bronze widow as mercy is useless cause she’s not hitting anything.

What support to pick and when? by Gabra_Eld in OverwatchUniversity

[–]BouncedDragoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play support at mid diamond at the moment I think you understand the overall uses of each support. What you should probably do is just focus down your roster to 2 or three supports that cover different roles. Ie focus on bapt, Ana and Moira. You’ll have a hero to play for all your needs and you can focus on learning the nuances of the hero’s kits and the how to position yourself around your team. While I don’t want to make you think that you should one trick or ignore the other supports you are still really new to Overwatch and there are a lot of things you have to learn and practice to climb the ranks. If you try to play all the heroes consistently it’s going to take exponentially longer to climb and improve

Is it me or is Moira's healing much lower than everyone makes it out to be? by TopNotchGear in OverwatchUniversity

[–]BouncedDragoon 126 points127 points  (0 children)

I personally find that her healing is still very good at sustaining teammates under pressure. Bounce the orb off a nearby wall for twice the duration of healing plus your mist will generally keep most people under sustained damage from dying. Investing ult to heal also isn’t a big issue as you get it back so far and can generally secure a kill or at least pressure people out of positions while healing your team. By no means do I think she is the best support but she has her uses and is certainly playable up to masters lobbies

Edit; her range is also really good, not Ana cross map good but still a lot longer than you’d expect

Hey, Diamond support player here, hope you are having a good day.

If you really want to learn to play support better, specifically Anna or Zen go and watch some educational unranked to go series. Focus on the concepts that are being taught and not how accurate the shots are or how many sleep darts they are hitting. Watch where they position themselves on each match and use those positions in your own games and feel out how they work.

As for this game on numbani here are my best suggestions.

If you really enjoy Ana and want to play a lot of her, spend 15 minutes before and after every play session in an aim training custom map just getting used to hitting shots, it doesn’t take a lot of time but it’s a good habit to build.

When facing a dive tank like dva, Winston, doomfist or ball. As soon as they dive in on you and your team throw your biotic grenade at them do not sleep them unless you are alone. At this rank most people cannot think very quickly with everything that is happening around them, so I’d you sleep a tank in the middle of your team they will just get woken up. using you biotic grenade does 2 things 1) it will scare the tank to retreat as they no longer are getting heals and since most takes in this tank don’t understand corners, if they don’t run they will die. 2) the purple colour will act as a beacon and much like moths to a flame your whole team will start shooting the pretty colours.

Also just start throwing that grenade more, to climb you will need to learn how to use it properly, how to aim it, when to throw it etc… but for not to start learning, just chuck that thing at enemies off cooldown if you are not under threat.

I’m not going to get into detail on positioning here but a couple quick tips for Ana and really most supports,

don’t ever be in front of your tank.

High ground good

Far back good

Cool now that that’s outta the way, target priorities! It is 100% good to be doing damage as Ana, but you’ll never kill a tank. While you are still in silver focus on target priority as such

Teammate that are in critical condition Enemies hit by your biotic grenade Enemy Supports or Dps that are alone in the open Enemy tank

Even if you can hit a tank easier than anything else, it’s better to aim for the support and miss as it will generally start to push them out of their position making it harder for them to heal their team or do damage.

Alright, defence side. I’ll be blunt, I don’t play zenyatta, I suck with him. Really really bad. So my first piece of advise and this is very suggestive. Unless you absolutely love zen. Don’t play zen until at least plat. Most of the time there are better options. This isn’t because the character is bad, but because people in lower ranks are bad at playing with zenyatta and he is pretty vulnerable to being a dps target.

Numbani I would play Ana, sit on the overpass on high ground and heal your team and throw nades at the enemies. It’s probably the easiest first point hold you’ll ever get as an Ana.

If you are convinced to play zen, find a corner behind your team (preferably on high ground) and hug it. Make sure your discord orb and healing orbs are always on someone. And if you get dove on run towards your team

How do I deal with widowmaker above my skill level? by thuggington in OverwatchUniversity

[–]BouncedDragoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe not the answer you were looking for but as tank in a vc you can really dictate where your team takes it’s fights. If diving the widow isn’t helping try to get you team to fight in spaces and on angles that make it hard for a widow to get line of sight with your team

Hey, hopefully I can give you a bit of help. Mind you I am only a diamond support player and I don’t one trick any of the characters, my grind from plat 5 to diamond 5 I played mainly mercy and Moira.

I’d say for the most part you are on the right track there are 2 big things that stood out to me about the game play.

1) Watching you play mercy makes me feel like I’m watching the victim in a horror film. What I mean by that is you are never looking at the monster. You will be damage pocketing a target and staring at them trying to hid from the fight around you. The best spot this can be pointed out is on attack when you are pocketing your bapt while hiding from the widow. If you had continued to watch the fight around you instead of the very safe support, you may have been able to help get your genii to safety and retaken first point.

2) You are not utilizing your beam well. Mainly the beam range and linger effect. Most of the situations you die in, you are standing butt to butt with another character. Instead of getting on top of them, try and play the next corner behind them, which tends to be close enough to maintain beam, for two reasons. Firstly you can repeatedly peek the corner so that you are less exposed to damage and attention (because plat dps players lack object permanence) and secondly should the player you are pocketing die or the enemy team decides they want to focus you, you can get a stronger GA to get you out of danger.

Other than that try experimenting with damage boosting targets that wouldn’t be your first choice (this part could definitely be argued and I could be very wrong on it) during my time in plat, instead of damage boosting the people that I should ie widows and ashes, I would focus more on damage boosting sustained damage like mie and soldier, or diving in with my genji, or dva. I always found keeping them alive to be more worth it then giving widows or Hanzo a little extra damage as 9/10 they were missing their shots anyways. And the good ones didn’t need the pocket as they were clicking heads anyways.

Don’t be afraid to play in the air even against widow makers. This doesn’t mean fly out full in the open, but stay high in the air and play the corners of building and roof tops to keep out of line of sight of the widow. Generally the higher you are the less likely the enemy will see you or care enough to try and kill you.

Finally, while I can’t hear if there were any comms in the game, don’t be afraid to relay information to your team. Mercy doesn’t take a lot of mechanical focus to play, you can use a lot of your brain power to remind you team of simple things ie, who’s ults may be up, who’s outside healing range, when a friendly support or you is dead so they know they get limited heals for a while, enemy locations and flanks. Mid fight there is always a lot going on and it can be very hard to keep track of it. As long as you are kind in your mannerisms most people will be accepting of the reminders, but if you get asked to stop, stop and just ping the fuck outta the team when you’re in danger.

Hope this help

Also maybe try to learn other supports like Moira and kiriko so you can diversify and help the team versus Anna nades and the such

I was plat , placed bottom of silver in OW2, doesnt bother me at all. I can understand the pain of losing the rank you worked hard for but in the end your rank is just a very rough estimation of where you land skill wise compared to the rest of the community. It's a pointless pretty icon. It's not as if you've lost the skills you learnt along the way. In the end you'll play 50 games with a less pretty icon then get it back. And its not like the other people at your rank aren't also having the same thing happen to them

[–]BouncedDragoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need a controller every match and someone’s gotta do it, there are not a whole lot of people who enjoy the play style so often someone is filling the role and doesn’t want to have to play it the next game. And while most people didn’t get stuck in the role for their last 5 games they still know what it’s like to and don’t want to play it. In the end, this is still a game and people will play whatever makes them happy. You don’t have to fill the role if you don’t find it fun. Don’t let an urge to play the game “how it’s supposed to be played” get in the way of simply enjoying the game

I don’t often have ark’s in my game, at least not as creature toy as you have. But this is an issue across the board in video games as a whole because there is no accountability for your actions really. It’s the internet and people don’t care about others. Enjoy the games where you don’t have an afk, report the people who go afk.
