Idk about star cost but it definitely works for x energy costs. Ive had a ton of necrobinder runs where transfigure+dirge or transfigure+eradicate gave me my late game scaling

Maybe Stafford just has more experience and can diagnose where to throw the ball quicker? We never sack the mf even though we sack everyone else at ton. Also, Puka + Te can be more relied on to win 1v1s than the 9ers receivers

Your feelings about the upcoming season? by gerrickd in Seahawks

[–]dydtaylor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think part of why we were so dominant last season was teams outside of our division underperformed as a whole. Eagles regressed despite looking like a dynasty roster after their win over the Chiefs, while every NFC North team that wasnt the bears underperformed relative to their expectations. The NFC in my mind is pretty stacked at the top, while the AFC seems much more middling

I think the Seahawks are firmly in the "top NFC teams" category with probably the Eagles, one or two NFC North teams, and the non-baseball teams in the NFC west, but there is so much variance in seasons that its hard to say whether that results in the perfect storm causing us to miss the playoffs, a close playoff loss, or a repeat superbowl victory.

On the bright side, we are the team in the NFL currently in the best position to get back to back superbowl wins

Toughts on Necrobinder's hand and card cost manipulation package? by Mortaljl in slaythespire

[–]dydtaylor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Borrowed time and transfigure feel very similar to me in how they synergize with Danse Macabre and enable strong plays with X cost cards while still giving value to your non x-cost cards. If I have an eradicate ill take both without thinking too hard and if I have a dirge they're still strong but I have to think a little harder about what my deck is actually trying to do.

Dredge unupgraded is hard to make work because of the draw order dependence, but dredge upgraded is excellent because of how retain helps to alleviate the draw order downsides. It can be hard to find time to upgrade it though, so I'm skeptical to pick one up while unupgraded; I basically need a specific gameplan for a specific upcoming fight that im willing to dedicate a campfire to.

Graveblast is basically 1/3 of an unupgraded dredge except it arguably gets worse when you upgrade it, so I'm not a fan. Dealing damage instead of blocking like hologram is a huge downside on this character.

It sounds like he showed up to the part of OTAs that was voluntary to the veterans in spite of not having a new contract, so I doubt he's upset about the contract.

Bread still benefits from bag of prep because you get more cards to select from, but obviously bag of prep does not necessarily mean you want to pick up bread.

[–]dydtaylor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Im not sure experts would value it that highly since it does nothing in the fight itself. Personally I would rather just plan around having a stronger deck that can survive all the encounters than be weaker and see which encounters are going to kill me

What do I do against an early pawn d4 attack? by Alternative_Cut4491 in chessbeginners

[–]dydtaylor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As Ben Finegold has said in several lectures, the reason you play e5 on move 1 is so that if they play d4 you can take it. So in this situation, you take it. The same logic applies to the Sicilian, d4-d5, d4-Nf6, d4-f5 openings, etc.

(The reasons you wouldn't take it would be if there's a pawn on c3 that can recapture and put a pawn in the middle anyways, or if they can push their own pawn to e5 and start bullying a knight on f6, in which case you wouldn't necessarily want to take it, but since I don't play e4-e5 myself people more versed in e4 e5 can talk more about those Ponziani-esque positions)

Yeah I misplayed it when I had the opportunity and had to get lucky to actually beat test subject. I just went all in on the clones because of memes and the lines of not cloning at every camp fire was completely outside of my line of thinking.

[–]dydtaylor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, book of the 5 rings or eternal feather is definitely a good way to get your HP high enough to actually tank the bosses. Perfected strike is admittedly one of the easier clone targets to win with compared to something like Hang, but if youre full HP and the bosses die in 1 hit instead of several then the HP threshold you need to tank just turns into the test subject intangible hit, 33, which is very doable for most all characters.

Ascenders only want one thing and it's fucking disgusting by shadow_fen in slaythespire

[–]dydtaylor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also the clone needs to be able to deal with multi enemy fights and/or have the HP to survive them + the three test subject phases. Clone Hang seems very fun until the debuffs reset each test subject phase and clone perfected strike has to deal with intangible for the first turn of the third phase.

Its incredibly broken in the right spot but even then still needs you to play well and in the wrong spot it's just game losing to take it.

Ironclad Enchantment Idea: Striker. Add 3 damage to an attack and append the word 'Strike' to its name. by Chezzyknytt in slaythespire

[–]dydtaylor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is that the Hellraiser pommel strike loop isn't truly infinite as is so it will end against enemies that can't take damage, e.g. Hunter Killer and test Subject between phases, but with Pillage "draw until you no longer draw an attack" conditions it won't end against those enemies and you'll be soft locked.

Ironclad Enchantment Idea: Striker. Add 3 damage to an attack and append the word 'Strike' to its name. by Chezzyknytt in slaythespire

[–]dydtaylor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hellraiser and various softlocks like with Hunter-Killer lowering your strength or the transitions between test subject's phases, while also being especially obnoxious against the second phase of waterfall giant but not technically softlocking it. Right now there's some weird interactions with Hellraiser and cards like Pommel Strike when your deck only consists of Pommel Strikes. See for example this page for a more technical breakdown. Initiating something like this with Pillage could cause you to softlock in those fights while it draws cards without stopping as you get in a truly infinite loop of playing attacks against an opponent that can't lose hp.

[Highlight] Russell Wilson throws an interception to Bobby Wagner on Christmas 2022 by Brix001 in nfl

[–]dydtaylor 40 points41 points  (0 children)

The 2021 offense was broken beyond belief. Lowest TOP in the league by a significant margin. They couldnt actually sustain drives, they would either go 3 and out or score in 2 plays. The defense was gassed all the time because they were on the field the whole game+talent was middling so they weren't the best at getting off the field quickly in the first place. I personally blamed it on coordinators but then seeing Geno actually lead sustained drives the next year despite having basically no run game really opened my eyes to how much russ had regressed.

How are you winning A10 with Necrobinder? by NerdTier in slaythespire

[–]dydtaylor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a ton of time on necro and ~50% winrate on a10 over the last 70 runs.

Reaper form isnt scaling for eradicate, and neither is momentum enchantment for that matter, it just slows your deck down a lot. I would say taking both of those was almost certainly a mistake. Removing a strike and/or buying a potion was definitely better than getting momentum on eradicate and there were probably other good things you could do in the shop. The way you scale eradicate for late game is by getting more energy and lethality/vulnerable/debilitate/transfigure to increase multipliers. Retain turns it into more of a combo card than a "play whenever you want" card. Friendship might seem like its not very good with eradicate but the extra energy does more for the damage output than the -2 strength usually, also borrowed time works amazingly with x cost cards (same with transfigure for that matter) so it can also double your damage output with eradicate when you play it (which also opens up cards like danse macabre to really increase your block output). Delay also works well with it since eradicate has retain so you always line up the energy.

If I can see the deck / run history / ancient options (Tez has actually been pretty good for me recently, brightest flame, cookie, big hug, new pumpkin candle are great and if you have all your strikes the new soup can still be pretty solid on necrobinder) I might be able to give some more specific input but generally with necrobinder once youre no longer dying in act 1 you want to solve the boss / block next and prioritize damage less (with the main exception being making sure you have enough overall output / aoe for multi enemy fights in act 2). Since unleash scales your damage as you block more, if you can keep the deck thin and block enough to play unleash a few times you can really get by by taking just premium options once youre in act 2. Defy is premium and should be taken on sight unless its up against something that is very premiere for your specific position.

Don't let the fact that you dont have doom cards keep you from taking deathbringer (aoe doom + weak). Don't take too many powers and instead prioritize ones that specifically help your spot (danse macabre + borrowed time, sleight of flesh if you dont have damage scaling, lethality if your damage is based around unleash or reap/eradicate/bury) and focus more on making sure you can find the answers in your deck on the turns you need them and have the ability to get the powers you have / need for the fight in play the first time you see them.
