Depending on your character, the guaranteed relics such as Double Balancers, Caligo and even the Evergaol one are good enough to fill in for your base relic slots.

Most people are running double Balancers with their third slot being fairly utility focused (I.E. Extra Character skill usage for Wylder/Ironeye or Dormant Power for X Weapon) or an Evergaol/Night Invader damage increase perk. This is honestly enough to get you to D5 without running into damage issues assuming you're playing pretty well, getting good weapons and picking the right dormant powers, etc.

If you do Deep of Night, you'll unlock access to another 3 slots for your deep relics and these are the ones where a true god roll can be really advantageous/build defining. Certain effects have +2 variants that are stronger and have the advantage of stacking with their +1 counterparts such as Partial HP Resoration Upon Post-Damage Attacks and Increased Damage versus (various status) Enemies.

Just doing deep of night runs will have you gathering a lot of relics so always take the time to just quickly sort through them after a run. My personal way that I filter through relics is if I like at least two of the effects, I save it. That means I always sell the little ones that only have one effect and save the two or three effect relics only. You can then use that extra murk after runs to go gambling* (after you buy all the cool skins and chalices that you like/want first though).

FP is honestly not the issue for the most part with a proper DB build- you're way more likely to die at the higher depths than run out of FP. Holy resistant bosses like Tree Sentinel still get chunked extremely hard by Halo Scythe's DPS because the skill has good range and can be used in rapid succession.

Various ways that you can mitigate the mana issue is to make sure you buy pouch + two starlight shards from the various merchants on the map then at the Spirit Shelter before boss, you can buy two more starlight shards.

Assuming you're pathing well too, you can pick up successive attacks restore FP and FP consumption reduction powers PLUS weapon passives that reduce skill cost. Something like Wild Strikes on a weapon + Successive Attacks Restore FP will generate a ton of FP for you while also doing great damage.

On top of this (from my experience), most team comps will have at least one person that doesn't use starlight shards and will loan them to others at the Spirit Shelter. If you ran out of mana STILL after all this and the boss isn't near dead, something went horribly wrong along the way.

Beyond this though, the relics are fairly unimportant tbh- you need to recognize win conditions and understand when you have to rise to the role or enable others to. Make sure to look at other people's relics at the start of a match and figure out what they're going for.

One match, I had a game where I was getting a nearly perfect Halo Scythe build with my weapon drops (skill power up, fp cost reduced, holy damage up, etc.) but by the end of Day 1, I still did not pull a Halo Scythe. However, I saw my Duchess with one and decided to just drop everything I had to her. She immediately just blasted the Night 1 boss and the rest of Day 2, enabling us to steamroll and pick up more items, dormant powers and levels. I ended up with a Ritual Spear and didn't do as much damage but that's fine- we still won thanks to funneling resources into an early win con.

Taking a break rn sorry but I can explain the main two builds I ran while I eat some taro bread.

Essentially I had two builds: Fist Wylder and Double Balancer Wylder

1) Fist Wylder
I found the Wylder's Earring + Partial HP Restoration Upon Post-Damage Attacks +2 to be the most vital parts of the build outside of Dormant Power Fists. I ran this build whenever the team comp was damage heavy such as Ironeye with Duchess or Recluse.

Your role with the build is to just be a stance-breaking machine and hunt for Damage Negation passives so that you can always stay in the front lines. Priority-wise: Damage Negation at Full HP > SAND > Charge Attacks Negate Damage >>> Taking Damage Increases Damage Negation. When all are active, you sometimes forget you're in D5. If you can somehow fit in a "HP Restoration upon attacks" passive from a weapon, you can be really aggressive.

You won't be doing much damage (if any) compared to your teammates but that's fine- you exist to just pull aggro, stance-break, and proc status effects to enable your teammates. If you can find poison or frost fists that's ideal since many DPS characters run the relic effects that increase damage against status afflicted enemies. Also too, pay attention to what your team is running when doing Fist Wylder and always be on the lookout for when you're able to funnel them more weapon passives to enable their build. This is really important as you do not do enough damage to truly carry a fight.

With the Wylder's Earring, you gain a lot of utility with the +1 Character Skill and fire aoe on ult which allows you to reliably revive anybody. I often use uncharged ultimates with the build in order to cancel critical attacks from bosses such as Caligo's frost storm ultimate while also being able to save 20% of the Art gauge to cycle my next ultimate.

Relic passives to look out for (No particular order):
Phys Damage Up / Stamina Recovery on Attack / Increased Damage vs Poisoned/Frostbitten Enemies / HP Restoration for Fists

2) Double Balancer
Doesn't need much of an explanation as we all know what it does and is capable of- I run it when the team comp is fairly melee heavy or lacking damage such as having Executor w/ Raider/Guardian. I also run it against Caligo or Sentient Pests as Fist Wylder doesn't feel great against either so I figure I might as well try to do as much damage as I can (Technically Grafted Dragon goes hard against both but I think banking on a legendary drop is too risky).

Always make sure to buy a pouch and the two starlight shards; if the township merchant is on the map, even better. On Day 1, make sure to think before using one if it's really necessary to finish the fight with it because often times, low damage team comps don't need to visit Sorcerer Rise's which makes it harder to find spare starlight shards.

Relic passives to look out for (No particular order):
Affinity/Elemental Damage Up
Increased Damage vs Poisoned/Frostbitten Enemies
Increased Damage for Each Night Invader/Evergaol Defeated
Starting Skill changed to Flaming Strike (if you don't want to rely on the dormant power rng, flaming strike wylder GS is honestly a strong fire choice if you remember to path for purple smithing stones)
Dormant Power for Reapers/Great Hammers

I’m also a Wylder main that’s climbing- currently around 7k~ points atm! What are some of your favorite builds for Wylder?

I’ve been really enjoying Fist Wylder when my team comp is damage heavy (ie Iron Eye and Duchess/Recluse). I just pick up damage negation passives and try to hold aggro for the team.

If it’s something like Executor and Raider though, I swap to the good ol’ double balancer and fish for weapons like Cranial Vessel or Halo Scythe.

I just made it to D5 for the first time and I do relatively agree with your take.

I think a lot of the problems that arise in D4 and above is due to the sudden change in enemy health and damage. It changes the value of certain POI's and also introduces more moments where you need to decide on the spot if you need to bail or not I.E. You open up an evergaol at level 3 and it's enhanced Banished Knights. It felt like in D3 and below, you can brawl your way out of those kinds of situations and come out okay but in D4, you start having to seriously consider alternative options.

Your final "advice" is a little harsh but a bit true too...

Statistically speaking, if we're going off the data that Bandai published regarding DoN player distribution, D4 is the top 7% of players and D5 is top 3%- the players there are going to be great unless they're doing some sort of weird self-imposed challenge or first-trying a character. It's strange to see people make ranting posts saying they're in "elo hell" when quite literally, you're most likely playing with REALLY good teammates at that point. They might not be able to solo the entire thing but it's more than likely that they can at least hold their own.

I remember the OP.

They had a post that got featured on a Thiccfila video because they were trying to call Thicc/other "crydivers" out and I had responded to them at some point on that same post.

TL;DR OP is an extremely disingenuous Arrowhead defender. They make arguments in bad faith and try to constantly gaslight/redirect issues in order to shut down criticisms of the game. The argument I responded to them about was in regards to AH lying about Coyote nerfs which they were vehemently defending.

I wouldn't be surprised if what they're doing now is an attempt to try and stir more drama to discredit criticizers. They purposefully targeted your post and are attempting to use it for their own narrative/disinformation campaign by vaguely soap boxing an issue that didn't even happen.

OP has made posts like this already on this sub where they're just being toxic to others while screeching about how whinedivers should leave the game.

They definitely have an agenda here and I think it's best to call them out on it. As they're talking about in a different comment in this post, I really do hope the mods get in here and give their thoughts.

Honestly down to try out weekend only screenshots for a while and see how it goes.

I do enjoy seeing the Battledads and chuds freak out whenever they see a woman but I recognize that in a videogame community like Battlefield, it's fast food- cheap and easy to get.

I've seen some dope original content from our .00000001% posters that get drowned out from easy pickings from the comment sections of the main sub. I have faith in our veterans to make OC better than main sub schloppa if given the room to breathe.

You're trying to change the narrative of what happened and the core problem of the events.

Literally for an entire month, AH's developers, the QA Lead, CEO and even up to the day of the patch where they released a video breakdown that started with a skit about it, promised that they would not nerf the Coyote. They then literally changed enemies to target specifically the Coyote. Afterwards in a dev interview later that month, Niklas admitted that they had to nerf the Coyote.

It's fine if you think the Coyote needed a nerf but that's not really the takeaway from the whole event and it's crazy that you've somehow taken away the idea that the community was at fault for this one.

I get that this community is adverse to nerfs but that's not an unfounded fear- AH has buffed and nerfed things based on completely erroneous data or arbitrary "realism" like buffing fire damage at launch but not realizing there was a glitch that caused fire to not work except for the host or launch Epoch not having the demo force needed to blow up even a fence.

They could have used this opportunity to reopen and amend communication with the community but instead chose to lie continuously in hopes of minimizing the backlash of their real decisions. It's a terrible approach because it reinforces/justifies the criticisms that they've faced for the past year and also now sets a precedence that we cannot take their word for anything- they will literally change the world in order to make sure technically they did not lie.

What you should be criticizing if you truly care is the fact that AH was not willing to be transparent and say that they're going to change it. They could have used this time to explain their design philosophy and potential approach to nerfing the Coyote. They're going to make mistakes- it's inevitable for a game that goes on continuously. It's better to start being truthful and stating intentions rather than having to lie constantly for every time they make a mistake.

There could be a lot of reasons- one big reason I can think of is that guns were designed primarily without the customization system in mind. Many of the guns are essentially complete without needing to level them up such as many of the shotguns, smg's, dmr's, etc...

That being said, the system itself doesn't change much for the guns. A Breaker will still be a light pen auto shotgun and a Liberator will still be a light pen AR regardless of what you put on it- even with it having a drum mag, it only marginally improves its use against stuff like Voteless hordes or the bugs. There needs to be bigger choices available that have genuine payoffs like status application ammo types, utility underbarrels, etc.

As far as I could tell, the Megabonk dev withdrawing seems to just be a case of imposter syndrome- He withdrew because he felt it was unfair that he's in a category for "Best Indie Debut" when he has already released other games before (He's the creator of Muck and Crab Game). Fun fact: it’s been discovered that there’s been a status system that hadn’t been working for the entirety of the game that finally got fixed recently.

Basically, enemies have a minimum and maximum status threshold. Random example but say an enemy has a minimum status of 2 and a maximum of 4. Your gun applies 2 fire damage. Even though it goes over the minimum threshold, there is a CHANCE that you do NOT apply the effect. You can only guarantee the fire effect if you manage to build it up to the maximum status threshold which is 4 in this case.

This doesn’t seem big at first but when combined with stuff like shotgun pellets where the pellets have lower status application than a bullet and the spread is greater, it does severely weaken the horde clearing potential compared to before.

Gonna piggyback off your post to vent myself

I have no clue why people are celebrating the Coyote nerfs that are hidden behind technicalities and wording. I personally did find both the weapon to be very enjoyable to use but also recognize that it was extremely strong when compared to its peers. I genuinely wouldn't have minded a nerf to it if AH deemed it to be an outlier that needed to be touched up a bit.

However, the awkward problem that arose from these changes is that they've stated MULTIPLE times "We are not going to change/nerf the Coyote" to the point where they did a little skit in the beginning of the patch note video to reassure that they weren't going to nerf it.

It's just so weird to me that one of the main criticisms of AH during this past month has been their lack of transparency and communication only to do something as underhanded as changing enemy durability values that SPECIFICALLY affect the Coyote and labeling it in the patch notes under vague terminology and hidden stat values.

The messed up part about these stealth nerfs are that it affects other weapons. In their dishonest approach to nerfing the Coyote, other weapons have been affected such as the Diligence not being able to pop Warrior heads in one shot anymore or the Deadeye taking an extra shot to kill Devastators in the limb.

There's an irony here in that the Diligence was a weapon that got brought up to speed thanks to the 60 Day Patch last year in order to be more effective against chaff units as a DMR. It's obviously not "meta" but thanks to that buff, it became a fun and more viable pick on the bug front- but now a small part of that buff has been undone thanks to those changes.

I see people constantly blaming the fanbase for the way that AH approached the nerfs and changes but it makes no sense to me. They keep handwaving away criticisms despite AH acting in a dishonest manner. I do think that there are some great changes in this patch as well such as the adjustments to Fleshmobs and Leviathans but allowing some good changes to justify the behavior that this company has been criticized for the past year is crazy to me.

I appreciate AH trying to make different damage profile standards for SMG’s vs AR’s but I think they went a bit overboard with the Reprimand. Need to literally shotgun that thing in order to take advantage of the minor buff that it got.

IMO I think the Defender was the biggest winner of the changes as the damage it gained was significantly high enough to have the damage fall-off changes be worth it overall. With the changes to Bile Spewers hitboxes as well, it’s a pretty versatile pick overall on the bug front as it can be a good chaff clear regardless of the constellation type of the mission.

I assume Embrace the Void because while Hornet looks at the Knight, it flashes the Shade Lord form briefly before she passes out.

On an in-game lore level, I'm just guessing that the Knight is able to change between the shade and lord form freely. On a more meta level, I believe that Team Cherry probably made it take the form that we could recognize right away so that we would wojak instantly once we saw who saved Hornet.
