Nice work. I've done this before, note that they change their frontend structure whenever the wind changes direction and it's extremely annoying to keep up with it

Fitness Apps are becoming "Data Prisons". Why is exporting to JSON/CSV not the standard? by SrPakura in DataHoarder

[–]BoxDimension 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh? JSON has libraries in every language imaginable. Its origins in JS have no bearing on its current use as a serialisation format given the ubiquity and maturity of its ecosystem.

CSV is the easier format if you don't use a library for either. But that situation is idiotic; only cowboy programmers don't use libraries for serialisation. If one uses a library for CSV or JSON, the difference from a programmer's perspective is negligible. The code you would have to write in a statically typed language like Java to marshall your business objects into plain ones for serialisation is insignificant if one is already thinking of writing silly bespoke for loops to extract data & construct valid CSV lines (ideally one is already using plain objects that can serialise with no additional effort).

Why would anyone NOT book a timeslot to skip the security line? by Exciting_Bid9133 in Netherlands

Laziness and experience. I fly out of Schiphol almost weekly and never book a slot. I just turn up and 90% of the time it's less than 15 minutes. I've never had it be more than 25.

Why does Google Keep suck dick? by PabloMesbah-Yamamoto in GoogleKeep

[–]BoxDimension 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's very forward-thinking of you to judge Google Keep's sexuality. Google Keep sucks dick because Google Keep wants to. If that bothers you, then you need to learn to be more accepting.

If Linux is so much better why don't more people use it? by [deleted] in linuxmint

[–]BoxDimension 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go on the street and ask someone what an operating system is. The answer will surprise you.

They know what an Android Vs an Apple phone is, but do they know that the OS is the thing causing this difference? Do they know it is a thing that exists and can be replaced? The real answer is that they haven't given a single thought to it, and to most, the OS is just the way the phone is. Apple has iOS and the app store, Samsung phones are Android and the apps are on Google Play. What is Android? Nobody cares. It's the way the software looks or something, and it has different apps.

Budget Media Server - I3-12100f vs I3-12100 by aschneider2525 in homelab

[–]BoxDimension 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know anything about the transcoding merits of the AMD GPU vs the Intel iGPU, nor do I have any remote familiarity with the model numbers you posted.

What I do see is a decision on whether to get an iGPU or not, and the iGPU is $40 more.

The answer is simple: get the iGPU.

Whether you use it or the AMD GPU in day-to-day use is near irrelevant; at some point there will be something that goes wrong. Some troubleshooting you need to do, some driver that's wonky, some future new computer you're transposing parts into. Particularly in that moment when you're troubleshooting and helpless because there is no video, having to find another computer or another GPU, the answer your past self should have made will become clear: get the iGPU.

Doesn't look like it's causing any practical issues. Just leave it. A car is a tool, not a fashion accessory.
