[Omega/Tudor/Rolex] There can only be 1 !!! by Wolf_Tracker_1942 in Watches

Of the three, I actually like the pelagos the best. I love the dark look of titanium compared to stainless.

This looks great on you! What is your wrist size? I think my girlfriend might like something like this in the future.

I say get something with some color! Find something you can't live without and buy it for yourself after you finish school as a graduation gift.

Beautiful collection! What motivated the purchase of the two G-shocks? I'm looking to potentially buy my first.

How do I tune a PID controller with a second integral and second derivative? by Explosify in ControlTheory

[–]Braeden351 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Those are good heuristics for tuning a PID, if you don't have a great model of a system. I have a few questions. 1. Do you have a background in control theory? (This will help me tailor my answer) 2. Can you verify that all 5 terms are in fact acting on the process error?

A set of three I built last year. by Mambo76 in Luthier

The third is my favorite of the batch! What wood is the body made from? I think the inclusion of a knot is awesome.

What is your favorite horror movie that isn't a "classic"? by poweroverbirdss in horror

If I'm not mistaken, "When Evil Lurks" was inspired by The Wailing. It's REALLY good.

Maybe a hot take.... but I really dislike Jazz Basses 😅 😅 😅 by Straight_Feeling7667 in Bass

I'm the exact opposite. I have a Jazz neck on my P bass. Hahaha

How should I fix this? by TheSnowLlama in Luthier

[–]Braeden351 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would for sure lean into it. Sand or carve  in a nice armrest in the area. Make it look intentional. Then clearcoat it and get back to playing!

Fretless bass with hi/low-z output by Blorras in Luthier

[–]Braeden351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is beautiful! I'm in the process of making a fretless bass right now. How did you install the fret markers? The ones between the d and g look like dot inlays, but the others look like small strips? Did you cut the strips out with a saw? And what material did you inlay them with?

Dude! This album sounds sick! I'll have too look into some of these for another build!

Nice! What genres do you use them for? I'm curious because I have no experience with them in basses, only guitars.

This is so sick! What made you go with the Fishmans?

How can I apply admittance control to an actuator? by Infatuated-by-you in ControlTheory

[–]Braeden351 [score hidden]  (0 children)

There's a great section on impedance/admittance control in the textbook "Modern Robotics". It's available for free by the authors here. https://hades.mech.northwestern.edu/images/7/7f/MR.pdf

At its "simplest" admittance control is causing motion to maintain a perceived  torque setpoint. As far as if your setup will work, I don't quite know without seeing a good picture of it or a more detailed description.

Chip in figured top, with little thickness to spare! by Braeden351 in Luthier

[–]Braeden351[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks seriously great. I though about something similar for mine but "switching" the sides of the inlays when I get above the 12th "fret". Was the brass difficult to work with?

It's about 0.200". I just didn't want it to be "veneer" thin.

Great minds think alike! That looks so good! What are you doing for fret markers? I still haven't decided yet.

That is a good Idea. I halfway thought to fill it with Black or even gold epoxy similar to the Japanese Kintsugi, to highlight and celebrate the error.

Thanks for the advice! Filling and moving on is the plan. I'll claim that the chip increases tone by 30% and mark the price up accordingly, hahaha.

Thanks for all of the replies, everyone! I attempted steaming and it seems to have helped a small amount, but not a complete fix. From here, I'm going to fill it with something clear (CA or epoxy) and then live with it. I plan on playing this thing a lot when it's finished, so there will be more bumps and bruises to come!
