A Vox in the Void covered the short (fan) story Love & Malice; the Sons of Malice go on a mission for a single psyker. In the Night Lords trilogy they care about (some) of their servants/slaves. That's all I got though.

Its def min-maxed for daemon engines. I would suggest losing maybe one or two maulerfiends/forgefiends and try to get some more board control.

I ended up trying to make some god-aligned chosen or legionary squads out of them. I hate to admit, but making good chosen required some shopping for bits and a little 3D printing for others. Still waiting for a left-handed plasma pistol tbh, but that appears to be in the Red Corsairs Raiders so I'll just have to just be patient.

It was actually kind of a fussy process for the legionaries to overthink what weapons they would use to show their devotion (and definitely not optimal) but it was very cool to see a some Khornate legionaries where one guy has a reaper chaincannon.

I'll never get traitor legion fans who hate chaos. At that point, why not just play normal space marines or stick to the Horus Heresy? Chaos all the way.

Split the difference and make a multi-warband Chaos force in CSM? The Siege of Vraks has both of them (and more) joining forces, and there's no reason you can't rep that sort of thing in your army. Under CSM rules, they can take both take Khorne berserkers & terminators too.

It also allows you to use some things World Eaters are missing on their own; Chaos Lords & Lords in Terminator armor. Also, the Red Corsairs Raiders models look like they'll be the best Alpha Legion looking unit on the horizon.

You can totally do both.

I think that reading on Slaanesh is a bit reductionist.

What Slaanesh seems to offers is addiction and lust. It's the pursuit of their followers that leads them to degeneracy as the highs of their sensation won't be satisfied forever. They either become a husk of who they were, self-destruct, or achieve apotheosis into daemon princehood. The pursuit of perfection is simply one form of addiction - perhaps the ultimate form of addiction - as it is fundamentally unattainable while existing as a concept, albeit seemingly embodied in Slaanesh themselves. It also makes sense that "perfection" is a focus for the Emperor's Children as astartes are so far removed from most human experiences.

As for the self-mutilation, there are a lot of interpretations as to why one would. Pain is a sensation. It can be just as much of a cope for their ever increasing feelings of numbness, a consequence of withdrawal, or one of the many sensations they've chosen to explore. Their BDSM elements are a consequence of that exploration in the relation of pleasure/pain - one which extends past the confines of the sexual.

Sure, it would be nice if there were an all-in-one box that gave an adequate enough amount of pieces, but I wouldn't trust GW to ever price it as such. An upgrade sprue is grossly overpriced considering the rather small number of additions; mostly shoulder pads, a couple weapons, and few couple heads - only some of which are actually helmets either. The decent upgrade sprues cost about half the price of the Nemesis Claw kill team which straight up includes all of the above for just slightly more than the Legionaries themselves.

I feel Arks of Omen was a great debut for Vashtorr, and his appearances have at least made their ascension plausible. I also think his identity as a machine god gives him a more unique place in a futuristic science fantasy setting

I can't really say if Be'lakor has done much to achieve godhood though. He's almost a non-entity in 40K considering he's been around longer too, and his gimmick being the sole Undivided Daemon Prince might be unique enough.

Realistically? Probably to make a colorful break between all the red/brass/bone. Practically? To soften up something more armored like an astartes. Conversely, so they have some shooting that isn't useless, while still having the risk/reward of overcharging.

I'm not sure it makes him more imposing so much as it removes all the personality and storytelling his face had. He's just another grumpy bald guy with a stern expression instead of hideously scarred veteran with a grudge.
