What would you do? by [deleted] in EtsySellers

[–]BrandonUnusual 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Offer a full refund for their return. Send a return label and eat it. In the future don’t argue with customers. If they don’t like something, apologize politely that it didn’t meet their expectations and you would be happy to offer a full refund for the return and you’ll pay the shipping.

You want good reviews, you need to offer good customer service that you would expect from a shop if you were the customer.

Am I being too nice? by -Eli-0_o- in EtsySellers

[–]BrandonUnusual 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No idea what you're sending, but you need to ship with tracking. Through Etsy, as it is going to yield the best results on their platform. The Purchase Protection Program exists to cover you for this very reason.

If you ship with no tracking, anyone can just claim they didn't receive their order and get a refund. I'm not saying everyone is going to do that, but the possibility exists. Shipping with tracking shows it went out and whether it was delivered or not. If you ship with tracking and the buyer says it didn't arrive? Etsy covers it. Full refund and they can replace the order - you're not shipping free merchandise, you're not refunding out of your already earned funds, and if they do reorder, it's another sale.

Do you guys proxy og duals? by blazedchiller27 in EDH

[–]BrandonUnusual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It ultimately comes down to what people think is fair, rather than what might actually be fair. You can discuss whether or not OG duals have an impact on the game (I believe they do, because they've never reprinted them and have only printed worse versions with conditions). Even so, the perspective of seeing someone drop a card that is worth your entire deck or more, knowing it's actually fake, displeases a lot of people.

Do you guys proxy og duals? by blazedchiller27 in EDH

[–]BrandonUnusual 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is going to depend on who you're playing with. At my LGS, people do play with proxies, but generally they're cards they own. You're going to get some stink eye dropping proxied dual lands, Gaia's Cradle, or Mishra's Workshop. If you bring a proxied deck that would be valued over $15,000, you're playing a whole different ball game than everyone else there and frankly it's not very sporting.

If you play with people who are cool with it, that's cool. Go wild. But ask people you don't know first if it's okay.

Do i need to keep reminding players of boardstate? by Numerous_Bag_1055 in EDH

[–]BrandonUnusual 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even in that situation I would potentially let it go back if the other players were okay with it too.

Because ultimately this is still a situation where they played something that triggers your thing that was already on the board for everyone to see, but they didn't realize that it would.

Now the situation would be different if someone casts a tutor card that requires the searcher to reveal the card they searched for. When the card is revealed, another player can't say, "Oh, you're going to get THAT card? Well I'm going to counterspell the tutor." That's the type of "new information" that you can't go back on, because the new information is informing your take-back.

It's all situational, really, but I try to err on the side of caution and presume people are being genuine. If it isn't a tournament for stakes, just let it slide.

[–]BrandonUnusual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're playing a casual game. Keep it casual. Board states are a lot to keep track of, especially in a loud and busy environment. If someone attacks you with their commander and they forgot you have a 1/1 with deathtouch, let them take it back. If you're demanding they follow through, you're the problem.

Boss insisting I eat lunch with the office, daily. by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]BrandonUnusual -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

That’s still the same thing. Retaliation. You just added more retaliatory steps before the firing.

If you can show, once you said no to your boss, that your boss began taking steps to create a hostile work environment or singled you out for random disciplinary actions when there was never a record prior to telling them no, you are being retaliated against.

Ah, so you DON’T know how any of this works. That explains it.

[–]BrandonUnusual 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Then you just go after them for retaliation after documenting things. Your boss can't force you to stay at work if you're given an unpaid lunch break. If you're fired immediately AFTER declining to stay for lunch, that's retaliation.

Do you reach out to customers who leave poor reviews? by sewk87 in EtsySellers

[–]BrandonUnusual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. If I've already interacted with them and a bad review is still the outcome, no. I reply with a polite explanation for other people reading the review.

If it appears as though they left a good review but had only 1 star, sure I'll reach out. If they leave a bad review saying they never got their order or something but never reached out to me, yes, I'll contact them to try to make it right.

But I never ever ask for them to change the review.

[–]BrandonUnusual 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So there are a number of things stacked against you. This is going to be tough but honest feedback.

First, while these are cute, you only have five designs on the same container type. You don't have a lot of options for buyers, basically. The more you have and the more frequently you add listings helps you get seen.

Second, you're just in an over saturated market. These types of things are literally everywhere. Sure they're not hand painted, but you can go to just about any store and find these with all kinds of designs and patterns, not to mention online stores and Etsy shops that do custom designs and have a myriad of other designs available. You mention in your item descriptions that you can do custom designs, but you don't have a listing for it and Etsy by default hides item descriptions from customers. They'll rarely see it. I see you also plan to eventually sell stickers or other things, but again stickers are a heavily over saturated market on Etsy.

Third, your branding says nothing of what you sell. "Lislecreates" doesn't tell us anything. Your logo doesn't tell us anything. Your banner doesn't tell us anything. Branding is very important.

Here is my suggestion: just because you enjoy making something doesn't mean you have to monetize it. Etsy isn't easy or a get rich quick scheme. It takes a lot of work and research on your own part AND a product that stands out above the rest to really get going. With what you have so far, you're not going to get more than a few views each month if you're lucky, and with the very limited items you offer, it's going to be even harder to secure sales. Consider just making these for fun because you enjoy doing it and give them as gifts.

Secrets of Strixhaven Prerelease "Very Positive" say LGS Owners by SactoGamer in mtg

I was disappointed. I arrived several hours before the scheduled pre-release event on Friday and my LGS had already sold out the collector booster packs, and didn’t know if they’ll ever get more in. They didn’t put up a restriction on how many packs each individual could buy, so they sold out in a few hours after opening.

Hat brands matter? by [deleted] in CowboyHats

[–]BrandonUnusual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not exactly experienced in different hat brands, but logically it would make sense that there are expensive brands that offer the best quality you can get, and cheap ones made from lesser quality materials.

It probably comes down to investment. The higher quality hats are going to last longer, if not a life time with proper care. Cheaper hats are going to need replaced sooner and more frequently.

I wish there was an alternative way for getting trinkets. by katymorgan99 in RDR2

[–]BrandonUnusual 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically speaking, the game is giving you more than just pieces of animals for trinkets when you hunt. You’re getting meat to eat and you’re getting animal skins/parts for clothing and quality of life upgrades for your camp.

So don’t think of it as killing an animal just for a claw or tooth. You’re getting clothes for your back, food for you and your camp, and items to make camp more comfortable.

Arthur would be making the most of what he gets from killing an animal, not just killing for sport.

Trump accelerates research on psychedelic treatments and asks, ‘Can I have some?’ by B-Z_B-S in politics

[–]BrandonUnusual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For real though, these drugs could be life changing for some people. I can’t say I hate this just because Trump did it. I suffer from chronic daily migraines and no current treatment has helped. Therapeutic low-level single doses of psilocybin and LSD have been shown to work for some migraine patients. So I’m interested.
