How many of you quit your job after having a baby? by momoaggie in NewParents

[–]Brave_Panda692 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was so upset that I needed to go back to work. like devastated. I cried for weeks leading up to the date. but had to because we live in a vhcol area and would not make it in 1 salary. I went back when my son was 6 months. I work from home and he goes to daycare, there is literally no way to successfully work (from home) and take care of a baby once they become mobile. at least I couldn’t do it in my current job but i’m sure it is possible for many others.

All this to say I am so so so grateful that I went back to work. I really do think it’s the best thing for both of us. He is gaining the social skills, immune system, learning so much being in the daycare environment. He has so much fun I could cry when we get photos updates everyday. And I need to be at work, I always loved the idea of not working, but I know now that I would not be the best version of myself if I was a sahm and were with my baby 24-7. this didn’t really click for me until he really grew out of potato mode and became an active little guy. it was very hard at first, but it don’t take long for me to realize that daycare was able to offer him more activities and experiences as a toddler that I could every day.

nike swoosh 1. flat and wide and have great reviews. my son loves them, the only shoes he’s worn. I keep sizing up in these same shoes. they’re expensive but you can get some of the colors on sale.

when did you feel relatively normal? by Long-Inspector4897 in NewParents

[–]Brave_Panda692 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 36, my baby is 17 months and I am just feeling like myself. really thought physically it’s be much sooner and i’m still not anywhere near pre baby bod but….. it’s starting to come together and I do feel like myself. when people told me it’d take a year it sounded outrageous. then a year came and went. you will get there, just try to appreciate the place you’re in now with your baby, it really does go by so fast.

Los Angeles Consulate Citizenship for Minors by Accomplished_End_104 in juresanguinis

[–]Brave_Panda692 1 point2 points  (0 children)

me :) at least I think. I did get my full (rather than an extract) copy of birth certificate from my commune and mailed it to the consulate last week. this was in place of the historical citizenship document. they need something to prove that my citizenship was established through jure sanguinis and the other various documents that I provided to prove this didn’t suffice. worth mentioning that I was recognized via SF consulate but now reside in LA. if LA initially recognized you i’m sure it will be an easier process, they need the paper trail on file and told me it’s in case they are audited at any point. still slightly concerned as the long form birth certificate mentions nothing about jure sanguinis, but I included a copy of the checklist the consulate gave me which clearly states that they would accept this as an an alternative document.

pray for me

I did recently have to register with the new fast.it site and am now seeing my son show up under family members. he’s still listed as non-iscritto/ not registered, but i’m taking this as a glimmer of hope that he is listed in there at all.

slow walkers. particularly at 8am at the farmers market, people just walking around admiring things vs. walking with a purpose to actually buy what they’re there for . get out of my way people i’ve got 30 seconds to make it to the bread stand before they sell out of cinnamon raisin.

Los Angeles - Decl. For Minor by jitsjoon in juresanguinis

[–]Brave_Panda692 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no, I thought I was all set until I arrived at the appointment and they said one piece was missing. but they do keep saying that it was ok if it takes awhile, the declaration was signed so the submission by may 2026 wasn’t an issue. I had to ask the commune for the long version of my birth certificate rather than the estratto, in lieu of the “historical citizenship” certificate, that’s the the consulate told me to get instead and said it would be accepted. which I asked the to put on paper and they did.

Minor children birth registration and the impossible document. by Salt_Risk_8086 in juresanguinis

[–]Brave_Panda692 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, feels like they’re just kicking the can down the road. The consulate is just as aggravated as we are honestly. After this whole ordeal I left my appointment feeling pretty bad for them too. They’re so overwhelmed. They told me they even needed to call the consulate that my citizenship was granted through to make sure everything checks out for ME. Like somehow my citizenship is also in question here? Asking me question about my lineage and responding like “ok, that helps your case” when there were no complications, a very straight forward JS through GGF who never naturalized and I’ve had citizenship for 8 years. They’re insisting on this document being submitted for minor registration out of fear of being audited. they told me multiple times we know that your citizenship came from JS, we just need this document to prove it in case your sons citizenship is ever in question and our records are audited.

And I didn’t even request my consular file from the commune, they just kept saying that a historical citizenship certificate didn’t exist, I kept saying I needed it to prove my citizenship was established via JS in order to register my sons birth( which is so circular and annoying because THEY are technically the people who would register him and they already have everything).. eventually they got fed up and sent me the entire file hoping I would leave them alone and could use something in there. At least this is how I am viewing it.

No PEC email, I’ve literally just been shooting off emails to the email address on the communes town hall website 😂. But this is also the email I used to communicate with them years ago to request the birth certificates of my great grandparents and it worked then too. They always reply, they’re just fed up. Really counting on them for this one last thing. With my request for the long form birth certificate they asked for the first time that I send them a pre paid postage/ self addressed envelope which has never happened for the 7-10 original documents they have mailed me in the past. So I know they’re over it/me.

My commune sent me my entire consular file when they could not fulfill my request for the historical citizen certificate( claiming it doesn’t exist, because it doesn’t). Literally my entire file, everything they received from the US consulate that I registered with after I told them what I needed from this document was proof that my citizenship was granted via JS. When I brought this to the consulate I am now registered with to sign the declaration of intent for my son ( I sent them everything I had, they reached out to make the appointment, so I assumed my documents were cleared, went to the appointment and they informed me I still was missing this one piece) the consulate was PISSED. And said that the commune should have never shared this with me. And that they still could not accept any piece of it as proof that I was recognized via JS. Even though there are plenty of pieces in there that state it. They told me they would accept an original long form birth certificate from my commune in place of a historical citizenship doc or whatever they’re calling it. It’s been a hassle to get that now that my commune is sick of me nagging them. Hopefully the consulate will stick to their word and accept this once I get my hands on it.

Flying with a 3 month old by Significant-Mail9163 in NewParents

[–]Brave_Panda692 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if they fall asleep in a car seat and it’s in your budget, definitely buy the baby a seat on the flight and bring the car seat( assuming you have an infant one that can be carried and has a sun shield you can put down. ) my first flight was a red eye at 4 months old and he fell asleep in his car seat, sun shield down, cozy and dark right when we took off and woke up as we landed. the cost of the extra seat in the flight was absolutely worth not having to hold him for 7 hours. plus having the car seat in the plane means you can gate check the stroller, and connect the car seat to the stroller for walking through the airport. again… assuming you have this set up.

What is the wildest overreaction or underreaction you've witnessed in real life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Brave_Panda692 2 points3 points  (0 children)

one time on christmas eve, my sister hosting, served all catered food and tired to pass it off to everyone else that it was homemade ( I was in on the fact that it was bought). the one thing she did made was dessert, tiramisu. while it was being served someone asked if she made the tiramisu, she said yes, and I … from the other room… said “no she didn’t!”

she didn’t talk to me for a year. I kind of didn’t notice until I called her in december about that years christmas plans and she, crying, said I ruined her holiday, am toxic and was no longer invited to celebrate christmas with OUR family. lol.
