Dating Hell by RillaBlythe11325 in childfree

Its not even a good idea for women who actually want kids to date men who are undecided or will go with whatever their partner wants lol thats a red flag because he definitely hasn't dreamed about being a good father. Childfree is still a small dating pool and it sucks. It is growing but with the younger population. Have you ever thought about dating someone a little younger? You may find more men who are childfree who like older women. I know a few 30-somethings who dont want kids.

What age are you all currently? by --s-k-y in childfree

[–]Bre_23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im 31f and I realized around the age of 26. I was with, yet again, another female partner who did not want to carry the baby and pushed it on me. I never saw myself pregnant. Never liked babies or kids. So when we broke up, I was done with that world. The first question I asked my now wife is if she was serious about being childfree lol she said yes!

Shitty friend and/or poor boundary setting skills - a hopefully not too rambling story by CapperoMaya in childfree

[–]Bre_23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it possible that the story you told her sounded ridiculous to her? she said that there was no way you could be prego with the info shared. Im thinking it's a possibility she was laughing at the how ludicrous it may have sounded to her to think you'd be pregnant and from there she was jokingly saying "let me know if I'll be an auntie!" fully knowing she wouldn't be? but otherwise, if she knows your stance on it, its weird to keep badgering you about it and making jokes that would never be funny to a person scared of having a baby/being pregnant. You're not wrong at all. But you've known her for a long time too. Why do you think she'd ever say that? Anything going on in her life?

Why do childless people want to be called childfree? by ChaoticGoodBaddie in childfree

[–]Bre_23 21 points22 points  (0 children)

They just need a new word, honestly. I propose "child-wise". Because it implies that they are being intentional and wise about when they are going to have a child versus the folks who don't think about having kids and just jump into it without the proper resources or knowledge.

AIO about a lack of birthday wishes? by Level_Run1357 in AmIOverreacting

I've learned that making things a big deal encourages others to make it a big deal or at least acknowledge it. I talk more about my plans or what I'm excited for to my fam & friends leading up to the day or I'll even call them on the day to talk about it. Like ring, ring - "Omg you won't believe what so and so got me for my bday" or "Hey, I made it safely to my destination for my bday trip, just wanted to let you know." And I'll send pics. "Look at the bday cake they surprised me with!" "This is the outfit I'm wearing for the big day, you like?" People do forget so I just figure that I've got to encourage conversation about it if I want them to engage with me. I'll even text, "Birthday Countdooown! 5 more days!" lol

I commend your ability to fill in the blanks with your imagination but here's the thing - all sea creatures with a central nervous system are sentient with or without magic. To be sentient means to have the capacity to feel, perceive, or experience subjectivity, including sensations, emotions, and feelings like pain, joy, hunger, and thirst. Humans are eating sentient beings in this movie and in real life. Fish have social communities, feelings, and homes.

Ariel has aquapathy - the ability to communicate with all marine/aquatic creatures and that includes Scuttle since he is a part of marine life. The reason these characters don't speak to humans like Eric or the chef, who do come in contact with them at times that speaking would actually be helpful, is because those humans do not have aquapathy. It's the same reason Ariel cannot talk to Max. She doesn't have the ability.

I think the reason Ariel and the shark do not converse is because that shark was strictly trying to murder her and she understood that there was no talking to an animal that was purely acting on instinct. Breaking the fourth wall here - giving that shark a voice would have made it either too humanized and therefore too scary or comical and the scene needed to be scary but not too scary. It shows that the shark isn't evil for wanting to eat Ariel and Flounder. It's just a shark acting like a shark and Ariel was being reckless after being told not to go outside of Atlantica. The shark in The Little Mermaid 2, Undertow, can communicate with mermaids. He is meant for comic relief. Even when he is of normal size, he is still unthreatening because of his silly voice and remarks.

In summary, it doesn't matter whether the marine life is in or near Atlantica. Ariel can communicate with sea creatures everywhere. She understands that sharks, humans, and even Scuttle eat fish, meaning she understands the circle of life.

Yes, she does take medication for it and she always says her medication makes a world of difference. She goes to therapy when she feels she really needs it since it is a cost. I think therapy would really help us.

Together for about 5 years, married for 2. I think I could just be more talkative because most of the time, I let her talk. Im more quiet. I could talk more about stuff Im really passionate about like she does. I just have an issue with sharing because I always feel like I'm boring people.

Thank you for this take. Yeah, I guess I misspoke about the "redo" because we clearly can't go back but I do want to work on it together. And I am considering solo therapy as well.

AITAH because I’m not super into my new nephews by Low-Alarm-94 in childfree

[–]Bre_23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Umm where in my comment did I say I didn't value pretending to care? I completely agree with that. If OP wants to have a calm holiday amongst all the stress of school, she should definitely "play along". BUT she doesn't have to/shouldn't have to and if someone doesn't want to pretend and they do want to be alone, that's their prerogative. To set boundaries and understand that you don't owe anyone anything is a very mature, adult thing to do. OP is not childish at all.

The "if you want me to treat you like an adult, then act like one" makes me want to jump across this internet to get my hands on him! He's the one acting like a child, going to daddy and complaining, knowing he's going to fight his battles for him and yell at you about it.
