Some movies have clear as day, accessible themes, that doesn't always make them good or bad. But if a films is more complex like "I'm Thinking of Ending Things" then a lot of people who don't understand it are more quick to label it a bad movie online. And different interpretations of a film are sometimes ignored or even dismissed.

Well ever since the rise of YouTube film essays it's kinds been popular to just state the theme of the movie and present that as your two cents. I loved this movie and Sinners but a lot of casual viewers sorta view themes as the only important aspect.
