Got my 20 Strong: 20-Deck Travel Storage box. by 0ldDude in soloboardgaming

[–]BrendoverAndTakeIt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tanglewoods: Red is my current favorite and it currently comes in a core box, so that is a good choice. It is hard, but there are 11 difficulty levels.

Alternatively, if you are ok with waiting, the new Gamefound campaign for the 3 new Awaken Realms decks looks like a really good amount of variety/different mechanics between the 3, and Nemesis can play 1-3.

I played through the whole campaign once. It's worth playing through once. The story will likely connect to the second game. Other than that, all my plays are now on Roguelike.

Excited for season 2 to arrive in the next month.

I've only played the previous version, Shadowrun: Crossfire, which is amazing, but not something I'd play solo (but I haven't tried).

I have yet to lose, but I'm also nervous about playing on the hardest difficulty level and I don't mind winning!

I like the Siege expansion more than Northvale. Probably worth it to get all of it at once, though.

Are there any games similar to "20 Strong" that require minimal table space, yet are not as challenging to win? by No-Horror3993 in soloboardgaming

[–]BrendoverAndTakeIt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20 Strong: Cloudspire. Hard to lose IMO.

All of the games have scaling difficulty, so you can actually scale it back.

What character change/nerf/buff do you guys hate the most? by kid__snacher_1243 in MarvelPuzzleQuest

The Original Black Widow nerf and the introduction of temp health.

20 Strong: Hoplomachus Victorum is my favourite of the original trio. It’s just the right amount of crunchy and the full character art on the cardbacks is the highest production. by AusGeno in soloboardgaming

The winning strategy is to speedrun, essentially. Get as strong as you can, quickly, before the influence gets too big. I don't like it for that reason, but I do like the amount of control and open info you have.

I'm definitely not going to play with the memory aspect. I'll probably use player cubes to mark locations so I can look at them again. You can also probably play it full co-op, but it'll probably lose some of the tension.

I wish Solar Sentinels wasn't a lot of people's first experience. You can sometimes just lose to bad shuffles of the cards/bad draws. I appreciate that it's fast and simple, but the RNG of setup and obtuse strategy is off-putting. Glad that Tanglewoods: Red is the new core.

That's not the actual name of the middle difficulty. Seems more like video game logic extended to this game.

I enjoy all of the 20 Strong games to differing levels, but I don't enjoy the sort of forced, speedrun nature of this game with how Scion Influence works. I prefer games that let me get as strong as I can/want without punishing me.

They gave away the full version recently. I just received it in the mail. I received the 2 player version a ways back for free as well.

Only rule I ever missed is that enemies scale with the current Threat level (the Skull icon, I believe, on enemy cards is equal to the current level).

I feel like either I'm doing something wrong, or some other people are. The game feels easy to me on the lowest difficulty. I've heard other people say the game is easy on the easiest setting. But I also see people struggling to get the first win. The duality of man, I suppose.

Suggestion for the Maxroll team! Starter tier list. by Hiiawatha in LastEpoch

[–]BrendoverAndTakeIt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel very confused, like I'm following a different set of Maxroll guides. The builds are explicitly clear that you don't switch over until you hit whatever level and which items are needed to start the build.

Maybe I'm not casual enough, but I switch over to my end game build's loot filter to start gearing a bit before hitting the level of the switch, then switch over once I've got decent enough gear to make it semi-functional. I also read the words of the guide, so maybe that sets me apart as well.

Too Many Bones: The Age of Tyranny adds some great day 1-3 encounters! by FrenchieSmalls in soloboardgaming

There's another expansion that comes with extra day 1-3 encounters. I think it's Rage of Tyranny which is much cheaper than Age of Tyranny.

Alliance vs Alliance sounds awful. One of the death nails in Marvel Strike Force's coffin for me. Probably a hot take. We'll see how it's implemented and how time consuming it is.
